Nick Fury is not the main character or one of the main characters. I'm fine with Samuel L as Nick. You could change Maria Hill to a Latina for all I care. Making Thor or Tony Stark black is a disservice and pandering.

Bond can be Asian, now that would break down some serious barriers. Indian or Chinese first generation. Get Kal Penn or John Cho in there. Too drastic?

I think we need a Bond breather to be honest. I mean, what about a younger special forces Bond that wasn't the super spy yet? What about a prequel trilogy with its own continuity? What about a Prince Harry inspired Bond, where he literally lives a double life? It would almost be a Bruce Wayne/Bond hybrid if he's blood of Royal family. I feel they need to do something different rather than the same formula spy movie. If it ain't broke don't fix it, but the world would not stop revolving is my point. You can always revert back to formula.

Except the version of Fury they most likely based it on is from a now canon alternate universe in the Ultimate line, who's Fury was black and based on Sam Jackson.

I would prefer Cavill as Bond after seeing U.N.C.L.E.

Once again, being white is not a part of Bond's character (his thinking, environment, character development, conflicts, etc) but being black is pivotal to the other characters you mentioned above.

An example of a white character that SHOULD be white (at least for the next couple decades) is Superman. Why? Because he's the ultimate immigrant but because of his complexion, he's considered an all-American farm-boy. There's actual irony there that plays into the psyche of the character.

As far as Bond goes, I'm not asking for a black Bond, nor am I asking for a white one. I'm saying that you have no valid reason for Bond to be white (or anyone to pick any race). Just pick the best actor.

The only true for Bond being white is "because he always has been white." People LOVE to bring up the "he comes from old money" reason which is not a strong argument at all. And once again, someone has the compulsion to bring up Shaft. Whenever any white character is in a discussion about a race change to black, it always comes up. It's such a weak point to bring up.



With that said, keep Bond white. He always has been. An American playing him would be awesome.
