So far, Clark hasn't jump up, up, and away...yet. So when will he? From the episodes we know now, when do you think Clark will finally fly?

For my money, it has to be Legion. Something tells me that that's the one that will finally happen.

You?

Since the show has already ruined the mystique of the flying power, I don't think it matters. Instead of discovering a new, truly magnificent power, Clark is pretty much the latebloomer who was the last one to get it. I truly sighed in disappointment in season 7 when Chloe said "You need to get on that one," like he was a kid behind in his reading class.

I read that they didnt have him flying bc of special effects but Kara was doing it several times in season 7. He really should by now

doesn't flying eliminate his need to run superfast in a lot of situations? Doesn't it make it harder to keep incognito.

personally i believe it'll either be in the penultimate episode or the final one.

episode 8 when kara reappears they could finally come through with the promise of his lesson properly.
episode 11 with a flight ring there is no excuse
episode 22 its a finale and needs something big

.
But Clark has been portrayed as doing so for well over 70 years in all other media without this being an issue so I dont think this is really an excuse. When other villians are flying away, I think flying then comes in really handy as running wont do him much help

I really hope that wasn't the excuse. They had Bizarro fly for christ's sake. And that was just an evil Clark. So I don't see what's the deal with letting the real Clark fly.

Bizzaro, Kara, Brainiac, Lex/Zod, they all could fly and special effects didn't seem much of a problem.

When did superman first fly rather than leap in a single bound?

Superman didnt start flying or having super strength until sometime in the 1940's. I believe it was during World War II those types of powers emerged so he could fight the Nazi scurge and the "Japs" (their words, not mine.)

When he was created he was pretty much just an invincible guy who could jump over buildings and apprehended petty thieves and spouse abusers, etc.

Never knew that he didn't have super powers at first. Didn't his first comic book cover have him lifting up a car?

yes, he was storng enough to do things like that in the beginning but didnt have the crazy type strenght that we're all accustomed to seeing.

Makes sense that back then he had simple powers. Thanks for the info.:yay:

Its just ridiculous that he hasn't started flying yet.

well in the early years they wanted to keep him more earth bound and not turn show into "superboy" with tights and all that. But ya now things are different with zod/bizaro/zorel/kara all flying before clark sucks.

Probably wont happen til real late in the season

According to the producers, he'll fly at about the same time he gets his red, yellow, and blue.

The producers have not said no, in an absolute way, to him wearing the costume. Just for the duration of the series was it a no-fly zone.

It doesn't mean that it can't happen on the last episode.

Yea I guess but one episode makes me feel so ripped off hopefully its this seasons last episode an if they go season 9 it can be pulled off

If I can apply a bit of interpretation.

Smallville is supposed to be about Clark, prior to becoming Superman. Since he's not Superman, he shouldn't really be able to do everything that Superman can do.

However, if on the last episode, it became a situation where Clark donned the Superman mantle, they could show a scene where he says goodbye to Mrs. Kent, to go to Metropolis, it could then in the last scene show him as he was leaving the front door, taking off his shirt and pants and flying off with a suitcase.

That could actually be a pretty good scene.

Clark: "I dont need a flying ring." *tosses the ring back at the Legion*
