People here have movies that they want to be successful next year, but out of them all which one has to rise above them all? In my case it would boil down to Green Lantern and Sucker Punch sharing the one spot, and if one of them doesn't meet my expectations, then the other one has to at least.

That Is all.

Captain America: The First Avenger

It would be really upsetting if this turns out to be a failure .

Same thing for Potter but I don't believe it could drop low enough in quality for people to be really dissatisfied , most fans seem content with what they have now.

Agreed,on one hand I am expecting it to be good. It shouldn't even hard a time being good even if the reception of it isn't good overall,to me the idea of Captain America doesn't actually seem like a hard sell to the general audience despite most people not caring for period movies regularly. I think that he's reasonably grounded in reality.

Agreed.

Who gave you permission to triple post! Better be glad you have such an awesome avvy.

On a serious note, of the dark horses of 2011 I really hope Sucker Punch takes off. It looks awesome and I'm one of the biggest Snyder supporters you will find on this board.

I hope Transformers 3 is not a big hit if it's like 2. But we know the American audience...

WWII with superheroes should be enough appeal for the general audience. Would be a huge shame if Captain America under performs...especially if it turns out to be a great film.

As far as the superhero genre is concerned, GL, Thor, and Cap have to do better-than-solid. Potter doesn't matter because if it underperforms, and I don't believe it will, there's no planned sequel to be cancelled.

Agreed about Potter,I don't think people should worry about it since the HP movies are consistently enjoyed by many, aside from HP:ATDH Part 2 not going to lead on to another Harry Potter movie.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (groan) are the last movies in their respective franchises (Bay's out after TF3, but there may be a reboot in the future), so they don't need to succeed financially even though they both will. "Green Lantern", "Thor" and "Captain America" have a little more pressure on them, but at least the latter two have "The Avengers" to fall back on. If "Green Lantern" fails, that's all she wrote. But I don't think it will. It's got some appeal to it, and having Ryan Reynolds helps.

I don't know why people are putting Harry Potter considering it's a lock to break records when it comes out.

I'm going with Thor and Green Lantern. There both going to be quite different I think than any of the other comic films to date. One's mythological involving magic and whatnot and the other will hopefully be a space epic.

Captain America i'm not too worried about so long as it's done seriously, which it looks to be doing for the most part looking at the pics.

thor and captain need to do well for the sake of the Avengers film. along with them gl needs to be good and fresh, otherwise comic books movies risk burning out their audiance

I don't think it's a hard sell either . So far Iron Man and TIH were great , also everything I've seen from Thor looks good . I just want to enjoy it as much as the others.

That's true they do have something a little different to offer and their success would be good for the future of the superhero genre.

GL needs to make money so that maybe in the future WB will make a WW movie.

Sucker Punch is also important for the hollywood movies. its a movie where all the main cahracters are female. we need more action packed movies with femaele charasters. girls can kick ass and they deserve more movies. Jolie doesnt count.

Cowboys & Aliens.

I think more summers need to have variety to them. Something as unique as that concept should hopefully push the blockbuster in that direction.

it may be a comic book movie but its still incredibly different from what we are use to seeing every year.

Any good movie released next year. :)

Here's a list of films that are on the radar!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
Sucker Punch
Thor
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II
Captain America: the First Avenger
Green Lantern
Cowboys and Aliens

Maybe these too.

X-Men: First Class
Caesar: Rise of the Apes
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Conan
Super 8
The Three Musketeers
