Which movie has to succeed next year?

I like the first movie. I'm hoping for another good one, since I didn't like films 2 and 3. Johnny Depp is great as Jack Sparrow. I like Jeffery Rush, and it seams the only films he's making are these pirate movies. ILM has done a great job throughout the series and I'm rooting for them.

Definitely Green Lantern, because it's kind of going to be the water tester for the studios, and so i'm hoping it does well enough for them to warrant investing in other JL heroes.

I don't know why people are putting Harry Potter considering it's a lock to break records when it comes out.

I'm going with Thor and Green Lantern. There both going to be quite different I think than any of the other comic films to date. One's mythological involving magic and whatnot and the other will hopefully be a space epic.

Captain America i'm not too worried about so long as it's done seriously, which it looks to be doing for the most part looking at the pics.
This. I also not sure why ppl are putting Harry Potter down? The thread is asking which movie has to succeed I think Harry Potter is a lock to succeed..
It would of been nice if TS would of posted movies coming out next year so we can parooze them. To be honest all of the Comic movies coming have to succeed it adds credability to the genre for the future. To be honest I don't hold high hopes for those coming out,but hope I'm wrong. I was excited for GL until I saw the trailer and all i thought was Fantasic Four....Thor/CA I'll wait until I see more from and again I hope they don't go for cheesy one liners with GL just because of Ryan Reynolds....
I also say Spider-man and Xmen movies are the most in need to be successful, but I'm not sure how the public is gonna welcome them one being another reboot and the other haveing a lackluster spin-off.

Well, at this point Harry Potter succeeding is a given. It's the last film with 7 wildly successful films behind it. That movie is already huge.

For anything new that has to succeed. I would say Captain America and Thor, considering they have get people to want to see them again in The Avengers.

Here's a list of films that are on the radar!

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
Sucker Punch
Thor
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II
Captain America: the First Avenger
Green Lantern
Cowboys and Aliens

Maybe these too.

X-Men: First Class
Caesar: Rise of the Apes
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Conan
Super 8
The Three Musketeers

I'm either quite interested or would at least give each of these films a try except Transformers 3.

Cars 2...just to keep Pixar's streak going.

^If anything I think we have found the chink in their armor.

Finally a year they don't win best animated feature...

They didn't win for the first Cars movie, or for Monsters Inc.

Oh I was just meaning their current streak. I think they've had it for about 3 years in a row now and will obviously win next year too.

Not that i'm saying its a bad thing. They def deserve it.

For a long time I have thought that "chink" could only be used in a negative light, oops.

Green Lantern. Out of Cap, Thor and this, GL, has the best chance of succeeding. Audiences love science fiction and since we thought Avatar would be too strange for audiences to grasp, this shouldn't have much of a problem. Men and Women will be drawn, as there is something for everyone. Women will go for Ryan Reynolds and men will go for the action and visuals, while teens and kids will go for both those things. That and the fact it's the most different comic book film to hit. We've never seen one take place in space and on different planets and where the protagonist gets chosen instead of himself choosing.

If this succeeds, this will open the door for more DC character to come to film and you can bet that Flash will get the greenlight along with the GL sequel.

I don't understand the hate for Cars 2, it may be aimed for the kids more than the usual Pixar movie but doesn't mean it's going to be bad.
Now I'm not saying either that it will be the best movie ever but don't be so quick to judge it, just give it a chance.

aimed at kids? its made for 100% profit. nothing in the trailer looked like it was done for artistic reasons.

But in the end every movies it's made for profit, and this project is dear to John Lasseter. Ok, you can't expect a masterpiece from this but then judge it after seeing it, there are other people who will enjoy this movie.

EDIT: And if it's made for wanting profit, will that stop it of being a good film? In some cases yes but then again this is Pixar.

It matters more to me that they are good movies, but that should be a given.

Same here, but those three guys have alot at stake for them. GL for starting a franchise and initiating more DC characters after HP is done and Thor and Cap for The Avengers.

GL needs to make money so that maybe in the future WB will make a WW movie.

This.

Our hopes of a JLA movie ride on this.

Avengers will already be filming if Thor and Cap fail.

WB so far has no plans for a JLA movie. Which I couldn't care less about.

This thread is kinda strange because there's nothing really on the line for some of these films except sequels, which already goes hand in hand with these types of movies. I guess the only films that do have something riding on them are Thor and Cap, but even if they don't go over well Marvel still have Iron Man to fall back on in terms of promotion for Avengers. There's nothing really at stake here folks for most of these films.

I dont really understand the question. Are you asking what movie we want to make the most money, or what movie we are most looking forward to, or what?
