These are Batman's early years. No official sidekick is needed.
So you're saying they're campy in about every single version we've seen them in? So your point is...?Majik1387 said:I think a lot of people are underrating the sidekicks because of some campyness from the old 60's show, the comics, and B&R. They can work easily in Nolan's batverse.

JokerNick said:ok, use a kid, in Nolan's gotham city..... wouldn't work.... some 4'4" kid can not take out Ra's or even the Scarecrow, Bruce, who's trained for a good portion of his life could barely do that, and I doubt some 10 year old kid could withstand the training Bruce went through..... Robin, Batgirl, all them are lame ass characters

At some point Batman is going to need evidence runs, stake outs and criminal spooking done while he deals with bigger issues, deeper investigations or maintains his obligations as Bruce Wayne. That coiuld be glossed over, you could bring in Alfred, Lucious or Gordon to do it OR you could have Bruce train an orphan, and use that, like the other supporting cast, to flesh out Batman even more.
There are some things from comics that don't work in BB (Man Bat for instance), but a child ally with a red shirt isn't one of them. We know that because there was one in Begins. Stop being so blind. Robin's not campy in the comics... far from it. Neither does he wear green or short shorts in the comics. Neither is he a sidekick in the comics.
Though, honestly, I think I like the idea of Gordon's daughter helping by computer as well, it would be easier, simpler and more direct, however, Robin is one of my favorites... and he's classic, there's precedent for a similar character in Begins... and there's a lot of Batman character development available in the relationship... I think it'd be the best way to go...
I think Robin should be the sidekick that makes into the Begins universe, however, instead of being a 'sidekick' he should serve the purpose he does in comics now... being an errand boy and occasional undercover for the big bad bat.
12 year olds can take pretty intense training, especially if they're already professional (and olympic level) acrobats.
And finally, there's no rule that says Robin will have to have an army splunking costume... in fact, that would make little sense in the scope of the film... he'd have something slight and utilitarian if he had any costume at all... though, honestly, at first, he'd just be a background presence training... I highly doubt he'd "do" anything the first time he's introducted, just as Harvey Dent isn't evil in Dark Knight...

Anyway, Nolan has gone on record saying as long as he's directing the franchise, there will be NO Robin...
