Which villain(s) should the reboot start with?

kind of thought it funny how in Dark Knight Rises they put a killer croc reference about big aligators exisiting in the sewers... or did i dream that .

Mad Hatter needs to stay away. I really can't stand that character.

There are characters, that for my taste, aren't interesting at all, and would be a waste of other villains if they went with them. Mad Hatter is at the top of that list for me.

I don't see anything interesting in Deadshot, Man-Bat or Killer Croc that hasn't already been done in other comic book movies or action flicks in Hollywood.

I think the focus should be on creating stories that we haven't seen before. Even Riddler as a main villain seems kind of "been there done that". I can just imagine the kind of detective/crime story we would be getting with a more serious Edward Nygma. Probably something we've seen before in Batman Forever but less goofy or something Dark Knight-ish like what happened with Joker, or Se7en with Spacey's John Doe character or even something out of a Dexter Episode. It might be cool for one movie but I doubt it will be very original for all audiences going to see this thing.

The thing is we have yet to see Batman really fight someone outlandish in regards to superpowers. Freeze and Ivy didn't really get to shine in B&R. I mean someone who is more than a physical match for him, has sci-fi abilities and is honestly more monster than man, but still has some humanity.

Clayface

Clayface and Mr. Freeze for outlandish characters.

Even though id like to see a different look and perhaps a slight change in his creation for film. I think they could do something creative with Clayface. It's gone through changes over the decades and I don't see why they couldn't pull off another one that's exclusive to the reboot in the same way that Bane was the essence of the character but still it's own thing that fit in TDK Trilogy.

I'd rather see Croc and Ivy done realistically as side characters. Or not done at all. At least not for a long time.

Penguin & Black Mask as freak mobsters instead of getting into the traditional Italian mob bosses like Maroni and Falcone.

Your first two are who I want to see most in the new films. Croc and Penguin need to happen as well, Ivy might be a hard sell though.

Visually, Freeze Killer Croc and Clayface have the most potential out of any Bat villain

Hugo Strange would be a good choice for the first movie, and I would personally cast Christoph Waltz in the role.

Waltz would be perfect for Strange. But like I said, im not sure if that character will get main villain status for a while, coming off of Marvel's "Dr. Strange". 2 different characters but it is what it is.

And I agree Rorschach2012, Freeze and Clayface are visually something extremely different. My only fear with Clayface has to do with how he looks and the shapeshifting...just how they go about it. Shapeshifting seems to be a popular thing now. X-Men has it in their movies, we'll see how they handle it with Martian Manhunter if he's even in the first JL movie. Clayface has the potential to be the best shapeshifting visually, than all of them..but they have to watch the "originality" factor.

Also how is it designed? Or the CG? They need to stay away from Sandman comparisons or Swamp Thing once Dark Universe comes out.

But I disagree with what u said Rorschach on Killer Croc. I don't see much potential for anything interesting or new. I think of the Lizard CG perhaps done better but I don't think of anything else really. I think Batman movies and comic book movies in general need a break from the sewer dwelling villains haha.

No Killer Croc, he is so uninteresting. Never liked him.
The only version of him that is somewhat interesting and scary is from Azzarello and Bermejo's Joker.

I would love to see Andy Serkis as The Mad Hatter, in live action for once. He can be a creepy little fellow.

Have you seen the brilliantly fan made trailer Batman Resident Evil on youtube. Its just over 7 min long.

Love it & it makes Daniel Day Lewis as Mad Hatter seem a realistic & worthy foe for any Batman film.

Check it out.

Wasting DDL on Mad Hatter would be the biggest joke of the century.

I'd love to see professor pyg but not as anything big. Say batman is already established and fighting criminals. Just have him in as a quick little thing showing Bats doing his work taking him down.

The Riddler. They should start with the Riddler.

It makes me happy that none of you will ever even remotely work or influence a Batman movie. :yay:

I know it's from the first page- but I echo this sentiment 100%. It also works if one replaces "Batman" with any other superhero name.

To be honest the arguably best and most known version of mad hatter is essentially a child molester i don't see them using a figure like that as a main villain. He'd make a hell of a villain for a GCPD tv show however.

Don't push it with such statements, because we are geeks, and we are nuts im sure some of us will try influence a Batman/Superhero movie. Also we are comic book fans and individuals, each of us with his/her own sense of taste, personal preference and style. You can argue all you want but unless somebody says something like
"The Condiment King as the next Batman movie villain because he is so powerful and awesome and totally not campy" you can't be a ***** about our choices regarding Batman or any superhero.

"Don't push it"? "Push" what? I get that everyone loves the comics and cartoons and Arkham Asylum and they want the live action movies to be "just like them", but pretty much every idea I've seen in this thread sounds awful.

I don't understand how I'm not allowed to be critical of anyone's ideas simply because "we are geeks" (whatever that's supposed to mean). I see it in the Superman and Spider-Man forums as well. Fanboys speculating, offering up ridiculous scenarios that they've gathered from cartoons and video games that have no business being in a live action film (if it's to be taken the least bit seriously).

When I read things like: "I want Professor Pyg to pop up and for Batman to take him down real quick just to establish his status" I'm left scratching my head, because this is something that sounds great as a side-mission in a video game, but would be laughable and ridiculous in a film...and since this is a public forum, these things are fair game for criticism.

These are some of the reasons why I'm glad that none of you have any say in these films lol.

You're entitled to your opinion, and so are others to theirs. If you think an idea is 'laughable and ridiculous', it might be more constructive to explain why.

I think Phantasm or especially Black Mask could be an interesting live action villain. Maybe take another stab at Poison Ivy as well.

Also, I'd love to see Red Hood incorporated somehow for future films. Not sure if they'll go the resurrection route, though.

Hey now, The Condiment King would be cool to see, the other villains won't even...catch up... to his stature in the Batman lore.

I would like to see the Red Hood as part of The Joker's origin. I think you need that element to the identity for it to be meaningful when it resurfaces.

Ok i kinda see your point but how "mad hatter for this and that reason played by this dude" is a "rediculous" opinion ? Just HOW ? we are speculating, discussing, arguing thats the point of a forum and going into a forum you have to expect a bunch of different answers. To my eyes thats how films get made, Joel Schumacher was gay and put nipples on Batman, Tim Burton likes dark romantic fantasy and made his version of Batman, Nolan is a sci fi-ish realist he made his own Batman if an avid video gamer picks the mantle of the Director im sure he will make it look like video game stages. Bad or not thats what makes it different and who knows it might work, Burton did his thing and it worked, Nolan did his thing and it worked.
