Ahmed Johnson was like the precursor to Mark Henry and NO! not because of their skin colorp). But because they were always injury prone to the point where it became a running joke.

Yeah, plus he cut bad promos and botched. I mean look at Simmons he could have been what Vince wanted Johnson to be but he was a WCW guy, so no dice.

My vote is for Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk. I haven't seen a better match from WWE this year. It was one of the most brutal bouts I've ever seen and one of the more realistic. The angle that built to it was excellent. Prime example of how to build and execute a great payoff.

My order out of those three:

1. Brock Lesnar vs CM Punk
2. John Cena vs CM Punk
3. John Cena vs Daniel Bryan
4. CM Punk vs The Undertaker

Now this is not to say that Daniel Bryan/John Cena was a weak match. It was great. But Cena and Punk have had a great chemistry and it continued with their RAW match. Both guys are able to get Cena to step outside the box.

Taker/Punk was good, just not as good as the others, and I would argue there have been better matches this year. But Taker in his late 40s continues to put Rock and Triple H to shame with his hard work in the ring.

I love that Kalisto already seems to know how to work the crowds at Live events and I love that his persona isn't all that different from what I've seen of him as Samuray Del Sol.

I know WWE wants to call him up relatively early but I really hope we get to see him take on Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville before that.

Rewatched Punk and Lesnar from Summerslam. One of the best matches I've ever seen live and my favorite North American match from this year.

 

[Slushy]

Punk Vs. Lesnar was definitely match of the year. The buildup, the 50 / 50 outcome, the workrate, and the crowd reaction made it an instant classic.

My other favorite matches from this year:

Punk Vs. Rock - Royal Rumble (Weak finish, but everything else was epic.)

Punk Vs. Jericho - RAW in February (Their best match together ever.)

Punk Vs. Undertaker - Wrestlemania 29 (One of the best underdog matches ever.)

Cena Vs. Rock II - Wrestlemania 29 (It was better than their previous match.)

Lesnar Vs. Helmsley - Extreme Rules (Hunter getting knocked by his own sledgehammer was fu**ing awesome.)

RAW Money In The Bank (My favorite MITB match of all-time now.)

Cage Vs. Del Rio - SummerSlam (Christian's one more
match was worth the two year wait.)

Bryan Vs. Cena - SummerSlam (It was exciting and a lot of people weren't expecting the outcome.)

Team Mysterio Vs. Team Ambrose - Survivor Series
(It came down to the wire and a new star was made.)

Honorable mention: Van Dan Vs. Ambrose - Summerslam (Solid match with a logical finish.)

Jeff Hardy vs Daniel Bryan/Dolph Ziggler and the SHIELD would be great,I want to see Reigns spear the crap out of him!

In terms of sheer drama and intensity, I'll give it to Punk/Lesnar. In terms of pure wrestling, Shingo/Gargano is better. But I'm proud to see I've seen both matches live this year.
