ya like i brought up before if your going to change a character so much why bother to use that character at all. And instead just create a whole new character. Now sure their is plently of spidey foes that dont have strong backstory and what not. But doesnt mean they need a total change to who and what they are to be in a film. Now sure film will change a few things as we seen in past spidey films or in the mcu films. But make changes that make sense and have reason.

Keep him as is, just pair him with someone who makes sense.

Or some evil henchman. Adrian Toomes owns his own business as well. He can probably hire some people to try and take out Spidey before he dawns the Vulture Suit. Hell, he can be business competition against Fisk and Norman.

Henchmen are optional. Just do Kingpin, and pair him with the actual muscle to take on Spider-Man.

If Kingpin means we get to see Spider-Man take on a group of human bad guys then okay. Cause lately it's just been Spidey vs random supervillain every film. Never just regular criminals or bank robbers.

I don't see why ditching the grumpy, vengeful inventor origin is such a big deal with Vulture. It hasn't been an important part of the character for years. And besides, there are way too many evil scientests going around these days, we need some diversity!

Ultimately, we're going to get a younger Aunt May with Tomei anyway, so I would expect Vulture to be at most in his 60s, though I wouldn't be surprised if they cast an actor in their 50s.

You'd still the older vs younger dynamic with a 15 year old against a guy in their 50s or 60s , so its not like that would be lost if you cast an actor in their 50s through 60s. They're still a couple generations apart.

There are villains that don't need backstories and if anything, I'm hoping we don't get another drawn out villain origin and just have the villain established at the beginning.

If anything , the problem with the last few films has been that the villains backgrounds, motivations, and personalities have been too derivative of each other even though they all have different abilities. With characters like Mysterio , Kraven, and Fisk, you at least can start from a totally different perspective from the other films .

I'd prefer they start out with Mysterio than Vulture, and that they ditch the 90s villain team up shtick. If they have two villains in the film, my hope is that they don't team up. One villain working for the other one, as has been suggested, makes more sense then the forced pairings of the Burton, Schumacer, SM3, and ASM 2 films do.

Most of the comicbook films nowadays stick pretty close to the page as far as characterizations go. Back in the day they would change alot of things, but nowadays the studios are shifting more towards the films reflecting the comics than less.

If anything alot of the changes that are made to characters now are more aesthetic, and even then the films are embracing more of the colorful costumes and looks of the characters instead of having everybody dressing in black.

I'd like to see him fighting a minor villain at the start of the movie, like Shocker or Tombstone. That would be a fun way to start a film and mark him as being an established hero continuing from Civil War. I hope they have Brock in the series from the start that way they can build to him becoming Venom and give his appearance some gravitas. Maybe Spidey appears in Infinity War and finds a black suit while in space. If they plan a trilogy, I'd be okay with him being in the final movie.

I don't want another scientist ******** origin connecting them to Oscorp. I mean it's not a bad origin but we've had the Goblins in the Raimi series, Doc Ock, Rhino, Electro, Kid Goblin, and Lizard connected to Oscorp and had Norman, Lizard, Electro, and Ock all be scientists at Oscorp.

Yawn.

The Spidey reboot needs to go small scale. Nobody trying to destroy NYC. Have Shocker. Maybe connect him to Hammerhead. Say the gloves are from Oscorp or Stark or HammerTech whatever that they stole from some crate.

Have him rob and steal stuff along with him having badass Spidey fights. Have him feel like nothing is enough. Have him want more. Have higher risks and jobs sort of. Maybe if he's working for Hammerhead, he steals banks from other mobs and involve Fisk that way and Luke Cage's mob boss.

They need to go an entirely different direction. Enough of the scientist stuff. It now feels boring and been done before.

Sure it feels anti-climatic and smaller than other Spidey films but smaller doesn't mean bad.

I'd love that. It could go from this small-time thug to a bigger scale plot thats happening behind the scenes with the mob. The Maggia or something

^^ This. Daredevil achieved that tremendously and all they'd have to do with a Spidey film is up the scale just a little more.

There's no need for Spider-Man to have to stop a villain that is conspicuously threatening the whole of New York, we've seen enough of that.

well vulture you could do inventor background tied to mob/criminal stuff. I said it two i love to see two villain the main one and then one who is a minor threat peter deals with maybe 2 or 3 times in the film. Webbs them up and always getting sent to jail. Like i said that is something i liked in asm 2. With the start/end with rhino. So we open the film with a cool action deal, which then you can tie into peter ending up late to school. Then you see that villain again say mid way and peter is like not this yahoo again. Or if we did just one villain. We focus on the main deal with said villain, and maybe like i said before do a montage sequence somewhere in the film with spidey taking out some bank robbers, muggers, and here toss in someone like leapfrog, white rabbit, grizzly. A villain that doesnt need any back story and be tied up in a quick scene. And we fans go hey its .......... character.

maybe not.. but it adds to his story.. and there's several real world cases of people being fired or let go based on age discrimination. i think it'd be an interesting concept. Plus, you have to give him a good story for his motivation on being a criminal... i think it works.

A simple mob story ala DD wont ever happen with a spidey film.. especially a reboot.. that's suppose to usher in a new franchise... people want spectacle with spidey... spidey fighting Kingpin, Hammerhead, Chameleon and tombstone arn't all that visually interesting nor entertaining... you have to pair them up with some powered people (and no shocker alone wont cut it)

you can tell a great story sure.. but I know i'd much rather visually see an aerial battle with the goblins or vulture than spidey fighting guys with guns in a warehouse.

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think Shocker is the answer, he's TOO small scale in my opinion. Someone like Mysterio is the perfect combination of spectacle and small scale plotting.
