Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 2

Some made suggestions and some responded to said suggestions, lol. Don't be so ignorant -- especially with your "Thank God some of you ain't going to be helping make this."

Simply saying, "I'd be cool with Zac." doesn't automatically mean, "ZAC EFRON FOR VENOM!", sunshine.

I still say we should have a main villain and then toss in a few z lister for a fun moments to build up his rouges nicely. And certain z lister don't need much of a backstory or history on film. Where as certain main villains should.

As for first film villain I still go mysterio or vulture as main baddies. Second film I still feel better to put kraven, chamelon, scoprion there.

Charles Dance as Vulture. He's got the look and does villainy just perfect.

Prowler is really an all around terrible choice. I like the character and all.. but...

1) he's a hero, and an ally far more so than an adversary
2) he's also been practically non-existent over the last 15 years in the books.. and only occasionally popped up prior... recently he's just a hired actor basically to play spidey when peter needs to have Spidey and Peter in the same room for Parker Industries public events
3) he's a C list character (at best) and a complete unknown to anyone besides heavy followers., he also hasn't even been given an action figure yet (outside of spider-man the animated series) yet we now have 2 Jack-o-Lantern figures in 6in scale... and even 3 beetles... if that further shows us how off the radar he is.

Those are all terrible reasons for why Prowler shouldn't be used.

1) Yes, Prowler's a hero now, but he started off a villain. Ronan had the same situation, yet they were able to use him as the villain for GotG.
2) You could say the same thing about characters like Rocket Raccoon, Nebula or the Inhumans, yet Marvel is clearly using those types of characters in their movies.
3) Being C-list or below doesn't matter. Comicbook fans are the only ones who still think like that. To the general public, all of these characters are essentially unknown. And that logic doesn't really work because if you look at something like Star Wars, did anyone know who Luke Skywalker was before the first movie came out? Did anyone know who Martin Riggs was before the first Lethal Weapon movie? And really, I don't think Kevin Fiege gives a **** whether certain characters are Z-list or not, as long as they have potential to be used in new and interesting ways. As mentioned before: Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Nebula, the Inhumans, Jessica Jones, etc.

personally i dont count shocker as a total joke villain or put him with the z listers. Sure he might not be known for many great stories over the past 40+ yrs he been around. But he is definately better then alot of the real z lister types. Come on he is def better character/foe then the likes of white rabbit, leapfrog, grizzly, warlus, hypo hustler to name a handful.

The problem with Shocker is inconsistent writing, sometimes he is a serious threat and other times he is a total joke. Sometimes he is presented as a lovable loser and other times he is willing to commit mass murder to just make some money. There is no rhyme or reason to the character, no defined personality, no real important stories. He has potential to be a good character, but its never been realized. I think he would work better as a henchman at this point in a film.

That's why you rewrite the character to make him interesting while keeping the essence of who he is intact.

Well ya like I said it'd more about what the story they tell with the characters and how the actors play them to see how public will go for them. Personally still if or when we see shocker I don't want him to be just a total joke or easily defeated villain in just a min or two. Maybe being henchmen would work like the enforcers are. But I don't wsnt him to just be a joke.

Again if we toss a few joke guys in films. I want it to be the real z lister who don't need any backstory or time really spent on. But we fans can go oh hey its ..... and be a nice fun scene.

Eh, you never know if they skip over Eddie Brock and just go with Flash Thompson Venom.

If MS isn't going to do the Venom that the fans want, they might as well not bother. Flash is a marginal character who has had more than what is owed to him in live action. It would be a waste of time to rehash the "Peter dealing with a bully" for a 3rd time. Let Spidey move on to bigger and better things.

Why would they skip to Flash though? That wouldn't make any sense. Agent Venom isn't Venom. And his character is different without the original villanous Venom preceding him

Prowler shouldn't be used because his fan base is minuscule (unlike GOTG which was getting a decent fanbase out of comic readers... something prowler has never had) not only that.. but it's a completely wasted slot for much better villains and allies.

he hasn't been depicted as a serious threat since his first appearance... he's not a mastermind.. he's kinda a running schtic of a hired gun. he can't carry a film, and he's never "won". And he's never remotely done anything important. he is 100% in the same villain class as Beetle, Blizzard, Boomerang, Speed Demon, and constrictor...

he's got good abilities.. but they are all basically hired hands and bank robbers that can't carry a film. and Always get beat by the hero.... he's not a complete joke like the legion of losers, but id only put him and the fearsome foes class as a step above that.

I think he could pull it off. I could totally see him playing the "desperate, sleezy photographer", plus there's no denying that he looks the part:
Zac-Efron-rectangular.jpg
and has the right physique for Venom

 He's very much on Marvel's radar.

umm... no he doesn't...at all.

Peter Parker's Physique... yes. Venom and Spidey do not have the same body type at all, in any incarnation.... (well aside from Topher Grace's venom)

not only that but "my high school bully becomes a super villain" is pretty blahzay and cliche as all hell...

and making him the hero agent venom from the comics is also incredibly boring and doesn't really add much to the over all story of spidey's franchise.. but instead just sets up a spin-off for agent venom.

not only that.. but kick scream whatever you want about classic brock venom.. but that's the one the general public knows, the look they love.. and the venom they want. regardless of what comic fans want.

agrees, the only "venom" thing about agent venom is the color scheme.... and gotg venom is too robotic looking imo... too sleek and just again, doesn't look like venom. he resembles more of an Orca whale

if we wont have brock.. the only other venom that makes any sense is Gargan. But i don't think it's needed to have anyone but brock

Maybe for an adult Spider-Man. But we know Marvel are going for the skinny ripped look from the Ultimate comics for Spidey's physique, so Efron's body type would be/is different from Holland's body type/physique:

And even then, Efron might not even need to bulk up, because there's a good chance Venom could be motion capture ala Hulk.

I'd rather Efron play a character like Human Torch than Venom. Can't see him pulling that off

I like Zac Efron but I don't think he's right for Eddie

Effron's build can never = brock even by working out. it's not his frame.

and yes, he'd be great for an adult peter (obviously because Effron is 28)

but just because he's got a different build than holland doesn't make him a good venom

Jumping straight to flash would be a totally dumb move. First you loose the whole evil venom angle. And the attachment for symbiote to peter and for brock in the story. Plus if we where to get symbiote in solo 2 cause of infinity 2 parter likely be out before we see sequel out. We would still be in hs setting. And what would you really want it to be like usm the toon and it goes to brock and what not. It would be much better to wait.

So we can do peter story with it for a film or most a film. Do brock for a film. He gets defeated. And he is locked up and maybe dying of cancer. And the govt takes control of the symboite. And they are playing around with it. And at a later date we could do an agent venom story to justice.

Spidey boy it seems to you and a few others almost a vast majority of the rouges we are likely to see this go around you think are unworthy or can't lead a film. Personally I do not think that. Again we don't know the story they want to tell and the scale of things. Plus again with the right push they could easily move x baddie up a few pegs. Look at for example where ironman was before the films. He was a total b lister hero. And right push blew him up. If you can do that to some villains you can move a b lister to a lister status. Or a c lister to b list status. I think it's silly to say oh so and so can't work. Just cause they may not be a perferd villain of your likely.

Mr. Negative or Prowler as the villain? Zac Efron for Venom?

Last time I checked they were doing a reboot not ASM3. Thank God some of you ain't going to be helping make this.

I strongly disagree. Those are the kind of ideas that led to this whole thing happening in the first place.

No, poor choices in story direction, marketing gaffs, and studio interference ruined ASM and brought us to this point. None of that had to do with coming up with creative ideas for villains and supporting characters.

To the GA, Mr. Negative is every bit as an unknown as Mysterio. I'm not saying I'd pick him over Mysterio, but I'm not going to boycott a movie with him, nor do I think it would tank the franchise like you claim.

plus again like kevin has said in past reports they want the film and likely this series take to be less on the villain blowing up the city/wanting to control the world and have a more smaller scale deal. Like how antman was a more smaller scale story. You can leave the earth destroying threats for the avengers/teamup films and all that. Heck maybe to be different this go around like the netflix shows are keeping things more grounded. They will have spidey in his street element and play off the street crime, and over the course of 2 or 3 films we get the more huger threat carrying foes.

... a vast majority want his iconic villains on screen.. not the unpopular ones. My god.. if you think people were in an up-roar over Amazing 1 & 2 and Raimi's 3... by all means, imagine the people who'd be pissed off waiting for the next spider-man movie only to have it be about peter dealing with Prowler and puma... -_-

this is just common sense.. it's not that hard to understand.
