Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

Yeah, we probably won't see Kingpin in a Spider-Man movie for a long while, definitely not in SM17.

Eh. He wouldn't be too bad I guess.

Olyphant is a fine actor that would be capable of pulling off Scorpion's turmoil and rage. Nothing too deep or intricate there, really.

Oh, and I agree that Kingpin and Venom need to be let go in terms of being villains in Spider-Man's films.

As for my picks:

  1. Vulture
  2. Kraven/Scorpion (since I doubt Lizard will be used again :csad:)
  3. Doc Ock
That's just as a trilogy. Should it move past that, you could have Gobby for the 5th with The Sinister Six being in the 6th movie ('cause that just works :oldrazz:).

Edit: A 4th film could have a few multiple villains, making the eventual S6 film easier to get going. Perhaps The Enforcers with Rhino swapped out with someone else(can't quite think of a replacement, maybe Mysterio?).

Hm, I'm trying but I can only see Franco in roles of sarcastic wise cracking villains. Shocker, Electro and Mysterio come to mind for villains Franco could play.

C'mon guys. You all know they're not gonna use former cast alumni. They're doing everything different this go around.

Yeah but even i wouldn't mind Franco as Scorpion, it would be quite interesting.

Franco apparently didn't enjoy making the trilogy, so I doubt he would want a role anyway.

I don't see where he says the Spider-Man movies. He says a series of movies, not a movie series. A series of movies can mean two or three movies in a row.

It sounded like he meant a movie series, and Spider-Man is the only series he's done, but I guess you could be right about a series of unrelated movies.

Well it makes more sense to me. If it was the Spider-Man movies he would just say so, rather than be cryptic. However if it's three or more different movies he's talking about it's easier to say a series of movies, rather than rhyme off the individual names.

Plus James has always spoken so highly of the Spider-Man franchise and the fun he had making them, so I don't see why he'd renege on that now. He even seemed a little defensive that they rebooted it so soon after Raimi.

Even if he did mean Spider-Man I doubt he would straight up say so out of respect for the filmmakers, but yeah, you might be right.

Well, it's clear that Franco has a pretty good working relationship with Sam, and with Spring Breakers 2 it sounds like he very much disagreed with the reason the film was being made. So I still doubt he would have openly criticized the Spider-Man trilogy if that's what he meant.

Lets hope they don't overstuff this movie with villains. That's what led to the downfall of Spider-Man 3 & TASM2.

Having a good working relationship with a director doesn't stop someone from being critical about any work they've done with them. Whether he disagrees with the reason a movie is made, or didn't enjoy making a movie. Franco is not shy about being outspoken. In fact he's quite notorious for it. He doesn't do cryptic. Not about anyone else's work, and certainly not about his own. If he was talking about Spider-Man, he would have said Spider-Man.

He called the 2006 movie Annapolis he did really bad (probably one of the movies he's referring to in that link you posted); http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2013/03/13/badass-interview-james-franco-on-spring-breakers

He called the 2002 movie he did, Deuces Wild (another one I bet he's referring to in your link), a really bad movie; http://flicksandthecity.com/james-franco-brad-renfro/

He said Your Highness sucks; http://www.ibtimes.com/james-franco...ays-he-wants-make-pineapple-express-2-1259999

Then there's the most convincing evidence of all;

I refuse to believe a guy who posts Instagram pics of him having dinner with his Spider-Man towel bib dislikes his Spider-Man experiences ;)

I actually think Gyllenhaal would work as Gargan. He's become such a massive character actor as of late I'd lobby for that ****.

Oh, it'd definitely work. I just can't see him taking the role.

If Gyllenhaal were to be cast in a Spider-Man movie, I'd only accept him playing Spider-Man (but sadly that ship sailed a while ago).

Other than that, as much as I love JG, pass.

Well, he could always play a future alternative version. :o

I could actual see Gyllenhaal as Norman Osborn. He's 35, so they'd have to age him just a bit, which is easy with grey hair and a touch of makeup. But, I think he could nail the Goblin aspect of the role.

There's only one reason I would ever want Venom in the MCU
