Yeah, we probably won't see Kingpin in a Spider-Man movie for a long while, definitely not in SM17.

Olyphant is a fine actor that would be capable of pulling off Scorpion's turmoil and rage. Nothing too deep or intricate there, really.

Oh, and I agree that Kingpin and Venom need to be let go in terms of being villains in Spider-Man's films.

As for my picks:

1. Vulture
2. Kraven/Scorpion (since I doubt Lizard will be used again )
3. Doc Ock

That's just as a trilogy. Should it move past that, you could have Gobby for the 5th with The Sinister Six being in the 6th movie ('cause that just works ).

Edit: A 4th film could have a few multiple villains, making the eventual S6 film easier to get going. Perhaps The Enforcers with Rhino swapped out with someone else(can't quite think of a replacement, maybe Mysterio?).

I don't see where he says the Spider-Man movies. He says a series of movies, not a movie series. A series of movies can mean two or three movies in a row. There's several movies in his early career he's out right called terrible.

Well it makes more sense to me. If it was the Spider-Man movies he would just say so, rather than be cryptic. However if it's three or more different movies he's talking about it's easier to say a series of movies, rather than rhyme off the individual names.

Plus James has always spoken so highly of the Spider-Man franchise and the fun he had making them, so I don't see why he'd renege on that now. He even seemed a little defensive that they rebooted it so soon after Raimi.

Well, it's clear that Franco has a pretty good working relationship with Sam, and with Spring Breakers 2 it sounds like he very much disagreed with the reason the film was being made. So I still doubt he would have openly criticized the Spider-Man trilogy if that's what he meant.

Having a good working relationship with a director doesn't stop someone from being critical about any work they've done with them. Whether he disagrees with the reason a movie is made, or didn't enjoy making a movie. Franco is not shy about being outspoken. In fact he's quite notorious for it. He doesn't do cryptic. Not about anyone else's work, and certainly not about his own. If he was talking about Spider-Man, he would have said Spider-Man.

I could actual see Gyllenhaal as Norman Osborn. He's 35, so they'd have to age him just a bit, which is easy with grey hair and a touch of makeup. But, I think he could nail the Goblin aspect of the role.
