Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 4

As much as we get any villain, i hope the movie, specially this movie (Spider-Man Homecoming), doesn't become another ''Will the hero beat the bad guy and save the day''.
I want the drama go back to what it was in the era they seem to be take inspiration from, the 60s, the Ditko/Lee/Romita era and have it be ''Will the hero beat the bad guy so that he can go back to his regular life/ date with a girl/ end his homework/ finish his test/ go back home before 2:00.
That's the drama that Spider-Man it's all about and what made SM2 so great, the drama of a teenager that's also a superhero and him having to balance it or try to not cause clash between two worlds.
The problem shouldn't be saving the world from the big corporation, or from the powerful bad guy, it should be Peter's regular everyday life, his life as Spider-Man and how it affects him.

Feige and Co pretty much said the same thing (ie that the biggest problem for their Spider-Man wouldn't be some world ending threat, but balancing his dual lives), so I wouldn't worry about that

Except Spider-Man 2 had a dynamic villain, Dr. Octopus was both a sympathetic villain and a villain who presented real stakes, his plan would have inadvertent destroyed NYC if it went through.

I don't think the movie would worked as well if Dr. Octopus character had been reduced to "bank robbing super villain who robs banks because he is a super villain."

Amazing Spider-Man 2 strikes me a s a movie where Peter's personal life got all the attention and the villains felt like an after thought. The Gwen and Peter romance was the only good thing in that film.

Electro was a barely character, just the most cliched picked on nerd becomes a super villain trope you can have and Green Goblin felt with shoe horned in and his conflict with Spider-Man made no sense (why didn't Peter give him his blood if it would have saved his life and why was that Goblin disease going to kill Harry in a month, when it took several decades to kill Norman?)

A good Spider-Man story can balance an compelling villain and a compelling personal life for Peter, those two things are not mutually exclusive. If the villain doesn't represent any real stakes, why shouldn't Peter ignore him in favor of his personal life? Banks are insured and the money is marked, a super villain trying to rob banks and do nothing else is one of the most low stakes affairs you can have. Peter having sacrifice his social life to live up to his responsibilities, only works if a villain is threatening actual human lives, not threatening some banker's insurance rates.

Spidey is supposed to have a really great rogues gallery, we don't need another Malekith style villain in the MCU.

Still, I highly doubt they'd let a movie end with the suicide of ANY villain. If it were to happen, it would have to end with another villain being beaten heroically.
didn't almost all the villain's in the OT kill themselves at the end of their movies?

it may not have been suicide, but, still

Goblin died of his own stupidity.
Ock died through self-sacrifice.
Venom died through his obsession.

I just hope they let the villains live and be arrested so they can form the S6. After I get the six they can kill off whatever villain they want.

I really want to see Eddie Brock involved in Peter's life. Develop him over the course of the first two movies, then have Venom. I really feel as though they could nail Venom this time around.

While I liked Peter's interaction with Eddie in TSSM, the 'bro' thing was a little too much lol but it's not a bad idea though. Heck, even build up Norman Osborn over the course of a trilogy or something but we can have Venom taking on Spidey first and that way too, we can still have Gwen alive and well along with Captain Stacy who can still play a role within the MCU. Personally, we won't need to see Green Goblin for a while anyway so he ought to be saved for a long time so we can see other villains getting established first, and that also includes Doc Ock and the Sinister Six ultimately giving Green Goblin a proper reveal.

As for who should be the villain for Homecoming, I'm kinda liking the idea of Mac Gargan and Scorpion being the villain, especially after the mind control thing while watching Civil War.

After watching Elysium again the other day I kind of want Sharlto Copely to play Kraven. I know hes the wrong nationality but I like the idea of a mental South African poacher trying to get a bounty on Spider-man or something.
You could even make him a dentist.

I'd like for Sharlto Copley to get some more work in the Hollywood arena. Heck, if not Kraven he'd be quite a menacing Carnage too.

After seeing this movie I really want Mysterio as a villain. The quipping possibilities are endless. Tom killed it.

I think Sharlto Copely for Kraven is a good idea. He can do accents, so I don't see why he can't do a half decent Russian accent.

I hope Kraven uses more weapons like blades and daggers and skills rather than guns and stuff proving that even if Spidey outclasses him in strength Kraven can outclass him in skill

I'd still like to see Eric Stoltz as Norman Osborn.

My pick for Kraven The Hunter if he was the villain for Homecoming would be either Luke Evans or Marton Csokas as Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven

Now for Norman Osborn like how you people aren't picking Jason Isaacs for Norman really shocks me it astounds me he is perfect not only looks wise but he can act but also he has played characters similar to Norman Osborn...Lucius Malfoy anyone ring a bell

We've seen Csokas in a Spider-Man movie before ;)

I don't have any evidence for this, but I suspect Marvel will give first priority to GG and the original members of the Sinister Six. I don't think we'll see anyone else anytime soon besides villains you could have in the background like the Chameleon. But as far as main villains go, I think they'll first stick to those seven.

That being said, I also don't think they'll reuse any Raimi/Webb villains anytime soon. Even if they would, GG is too big of a villain for your first film. That narrows the options down to Mysterio, Kraven and Vulture. IMO, it's not a stretch of the imagination for Vulture to be the villain, especially not when he was the first major Spidey fought in the comics (I know Chameleon came first but I'm referring to physical adversaries only).

My pick for Norman would be Michael C. Hall.

I hope you're right. I want them to focus on the classic villains he faced in high school, while building up the goblin in the background.

Vulture's going to seem played out now that Spidey's fought a similar opponent in Falcon in CW.

Edit: Sorry about the untagged spoiler.
