Who Should Take Osborn Down at the End of Dark Reign?

I still consider him a small-time, street-level villain who shows up to throw some pumpkins at Spider-Man from time to time.

And who should be dead.

They already had the heroes take down President Lex Luthor. It would just seem like a rip-off of Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America taking him down.

That's why just Cap should take him down. The best of the best takes down the worst of the moment. SYMBOLISM!

The interviews seem to indicate that this upcoming mini is the end of dark reign and they were kinda worded in a way that was osborn saying, "I'm going down but I'm taking you down first" but maybe I misread that. I'm gonna say public sentiment kills osborn, that seems like a bendis ending.

He is pretty straight forward villanous in some ways, but shows pangs of actually wanting to do good. Even if it means downing a plane of innocents.

But yeah, Dark Reign can end any time now.

Though, I've always liked Osborne a little bigger, due to him owning a huge company.

We've already had that symbolism in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies with Superman fighting Lex Luthor saying that his legitimate career is over.

It's already done and it's already cliched.

Considering that Osborn wants Red Skull to take over Steve's body and use him for the Dark Avengers, I think Steve has a legitimate reason to take down Osborn.

Come on first most of the action in NA comes from Crossfire like exchanges and sound bites of clint ronin barton and norman osborn. Bendis loves to write people just talking, you know he'd love to write a whole finishing move sequence of just talking or some such anti climatic ********. Second he never writes the heroes winning any big event or such thing, think about it? Third I don't think they're any worse then the DC people electing lex luthor ****ing president. At least norman's never tried to like kill everyone on earth or some **** like that. Plus they didn't elect norman he just played public sentiment, he'd never last in a campaign but if he just grabs power in one swift move and then just limits public appearance it's not like he's doing fireside chats with the green goblin or anything.



If I had a choice, Zemo should do it and be hated for the act or something. That could have a cool ripple, he shoots osborn (but doesn't kill him cause of the healing factor) and the public believe Zemo's evil when he's actually trying to help.

There's a big difference between President Lex Luthor and Director Norman Osborn.

At least with Luthor, the populace of the DC Universe thought that he was a good person because of the image that Luthor built for himself and successfully managed to cover up his evil deeds. And now that he's been exposed, his reputation and everything associated with him (the White House and LexCorp) have been irreparably damaged.

With Osborn on the other hand, the Marvel Universe knew that he was the Green Goblin. He was publicly outed and exposed and sent to prison. Then he becomes Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. and the darling of the media which makes no sense because the Green Goblin has a more "evil" reputation than Lex Luthor (who is more delusional and power hungry than evil in my opinion, even in his current "mad scientist" incarnation).

Please, he was lex ****ing luthor. You're talking about the DC universe actively electing him. At least Osborn has been shown kiss the president's ass. Now I'm not sure how much was retconned with the reality bendings but I know luthor wasn't clean when he was elected. You have to say say **** it to a few things, but luthor got his ass elected that's a bit more unbelievable than some supposedly formerly insane guy rescuing earth with a headshot and getting a PR boast cause stark and fury dropped the ball. Osborn is just directing SHIELD not running a country and it's not like he's gonna last a year (marvel time) it's not that big a streach I don't think. Just saying I accept that luthor could become president in the DCU and I accept that Osborn could run SHIELD if he got the drop on certian people.

How do you know Luthor wasn't clean when he was elected? Everything I've read indicates he was. There were allegations around him, but nothing was proven and I don't think he ever went to prison, according to the continuity of the time.

I believe his excuse was that cadmas labs replaced him with an evil clone that did all his evil ****. So they were like ok that's fine, hey you want to be president? That's pretty ****ing stupid, especially when superman says you're ****ing evil in public.

Yeah, Lex wasn't clean when he was elected, but the people thought that he was because he successfully covered up his illicit activities. Accusations from people like Lois Lane didn't stick. His humanitarian actions in Gotham (while Bruce Wayne fled the scene) really, really helped his image.

It took him to go crazy and don an Apokaliptian kryptonite powered battle armor while abusing a drug cocktail of Venom and liquid kryptonite in front of everybody for him to go down. He also made out with Amanda Waller.

When is Dark Reign going to end anyway? Does the end of DR necessarily mean the end of Osborn as head of H.A.M.M.E.R?

I imagine it would. It's not like Osborn is gonna suddenly clean up his own act, so his reign will always be a dark one.

I want to see Stark do it. After the **** he has put himself through to keep everyone elses identities out of Osbornes hands it only seems right.

But I think when they say Cap's return was planned all along I get the feeling his return will be the moment that galvanizes everyone into action against Osborne. So you could say it would be Cap.

But then there is Spidey. He should get a say in the matter.

And then there is...DEADPOOL! Yea he got his money from Osborne. But Osborne made it out that Deadpool joined the Skrulls and was a traitor to earth, when Deadpool was actually getting the info that Osborne used to get where he is today. And he has just turned up in San Fran so...

And let's not forget about Osborne's personal "bodyguard" The Sentry. If he wholeheartedly sides with Osborne then well, game over for anyone you tries to stop him. So I think Sentry's decision will play a major factor too.

The Sentry has been shown in huge hesitation before. Hopefully, they'll just play it that the world's oldest, and greatest superhero sorta figures out how he inspired an entire generation of heroes again.
