Lex is there greatest villian because hes a world threat not just a bat villian. Jokers great but not in the way Lex works. Lex is the villian people want to be. He may not have powers but he has the intelligence of genius and the desires of a world conquerer. Hes great because hes rational and plots against you. He gets others to fight for him so hes always in control

Joker is f***ing overrated.

I voted for this guy. Iconic as hell. Never mind being DC's greatest villain. He's the greatest comicbook villain of all time imo.

I totally agree with everything you said.

When I see questions like "Who will be remembered as DC's greatest villain of all time?" I somehow always boil it down to what the general population of non-comic reading people would think. In most instances I think this population can be personified by a single person: your mom.

I think Mom would more likely answer The Joker over Lex Luthor. Mom might not even recall Lex's name. I think part of the reason why is because Luthor lacks anything visually distinctive. He's bald; but not always. Moms would likely be more familiar with Hackman's Luthor. He's got that green armor, but again, that's not consistant either.

Now, The Joker's had his share of looks, costumes, and interpretations - but he's always what he is: Joker. He's a brand name.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. Hell, look at the Crisis. Whether you like the way its going or not, Luthor is a central figure. Now, granted, most of what we've seen has been Alex posing as Luthor, but the fact is that Luthor is so feared and respected among the villain community that when he came calling, they answered (except for the Secret Six and a few others). The Joker, on the other hand, was one guy that no one wanted to work with... partially because he's crazy but also because I don't think anyone really has any confidence in him.

Yeah he is the A-1 nutso...why would they have confidence in a guy who would shoot them without thinking twice. His only major goal is chaos but that could actually be used as an argument for The Joker.

it would be gorilla grodd if he got any media exposure. Look at how well King Kong did. People love gorillas. Look at how many people loved Mr. Ed. People love talking animals. And people love cunning villains. King Kong + Mr. Ed + intelligent villainy = greatest villain ever

In my believe, The Joker is the greatest villain of all time (take that, you StarWars fans!)

Its not even close. The Joker.

I wouldn't go far as to say that. I'd say the Lex Luthor is really, really close.

Down to Lex or Joker....I think in the long run Lex will be relatable to future generations, while it will get harder and harder to believe Joker roams free

I personally see Luthor as the greatest villain in the DCU. He's just so driven and brilliant. Read Lex Luthor Man of Steel if you want to really see evil's heart. And you may find it's not that different from your own. Just so much more of a complex character.

Ehhhh I would not go that far...Joker is about as complex as they come

King Kong didn't actually do that well considering the ridiculous budget but I think your points still stand.

If you're Ra's Al Ghul are you a bit depressed that a monkey got more votes than you.
