This is really an unfair comparison. To really do the question justice, we will have needed to see Katie as Rachel in BB, and Maggie as Rachel in BB. If the direction, scripts, production, etc are different in TDK, that makes for a situation in which Maggie could be neither better nor worse, just different.

That's my unbiased, scientific approach to an answer. My personal gut tells me, while Katie did a good job, Maggie will probably prove to be better-suited for the role.

You know, not every leading actress in a movie needs to be the hottest piece of ass in the business.

But in a Batman movie......we've had Kim Basinger, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Elle Macpherson - its kind of a tradition.

Plus, basic Hollywood blockbuster regulations mean you need a sexy lady in a movie.

Having said that, I don't really care who plays Rachel as it's a forced character anyway. Nolan clearly isn't much concerned about a love interest. Romance has never been as vital a part of the Batman mythos as it is for Superman or Spider-Man.

Maggie will give the better performance...but then again, this is a superhero movie. It's not going to win any awards for dramatic acting.

I'd much rather have a superhero film follow comic book aesthetics...and that means ridiculously beautiful women everywhere. Seriously, there are so many beautiful actresses and models out there. What is up with all these superhero movies and the actresses they cast?
