The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Who would be the best MJ?

I like that brunette!

Just saw Percy Jackson.

Still think Alexis Knapp is the best option, but if I can't have her then I say yes to Alexandra Daddario. She's the perfect age, gorgious, amazing blue eyes, and I would love to see her as a red head.

I hope MJ stays out of the trilogy, or quadrilogy. Even though I think Gwen will die in this movie for some reason.

That hope is already dead, dude.

She was already in ASM2, and she will DEFINITELY be in ASM3.

MJ has to be in any Spider-man franchise at some point. Once Gwen dies at the end of TASM2 they will need to have MJ come into things. At first she will likely be nothing more than a friend, and that's good because if they move too fast the general audience will not like the new MJ. In a lot of ways I would like to see (after a little time) Peter develop a friendship with MJ, but also start to get involved with the Black Cat. It can be all flirtation, with stolen kisses and such, which would add some fun to the third movie and help us move on from Gwen.

trust me she can't hide the accent. and anyways, she can't pull off mj. she could be conceited mia, but she can't be mj.

Mia is an egocentric character, who dreamed of stardom, too worried with his appearance, but she had a good heart and was loyal to his friends, and she also had a complicated relationship with his parents.

It's not just the U.S. that has good actresses and how this is a debate, I liked the idea of my sister out of the cliché.

Mary Jane NEEDS to be in in this franchise. She's a huge part of the Spider-Man mythos. The female lead. It would be like Superman without Lois Lane. If anything, Gwen is more expendable than MJ. If they don't feel like delving into MJ's character, she should at the very least have a small cameo at some point. But SpideyFan866 is right. They will most likely introduce the character in TASM3. At least, I hope so...

Quit stating assumptions as fact, dude.

It's not an assumption. As has already been said, it's stated fact that MJ will be introduced in TASM3 after her introduction in the series was postponed from TASM2.

A few more pics of my girl Jane, looking very MJ-esque.

She's strikingly beautiful. :hrt:

^ I sincerely doubt that - if Woodley misses out on the role of MJ in TASM3 because of scheduling conflicts - Webb and Co. will 'retool' the character for a 'supermodel-type' actress.

Woodley returning remains my preferred scenario, but, if she can't come back, Webb and Co. need to find someone who is more 'school-girl' than 'supermodel' because that's what their version of the character is (as is evidenced by the few screencaps we saw of Woodley's MJ).

She reminds me a lot of Emma Stone...

I don't understand the logic in this desire to see an actress portray Mary Jane who bears a very strong resemblance to the actress that portrays Gwen.

It would be like if they had cast Jake Gyllenhaal as Harry Osborn in relation to Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker.

All of Woodley's scenes have been thrown out. The character hasn't been written yet. Essentially, MJ doesn't exist in Webb's world and the script for the 3rd film hasn't been written yet. Webb and Co. could easily change whatever direction they were going to take with the character inTASM2. I wouldn't mind if Woodley returned, but if she doesn't, I think that would be the best move.

Start from scratch and recast the role to an actress that would bring something different to the table, rather than casting a Woodley 2.0 (someone they had to settle for because they couldn't get Woodley). Obviously, they saw something in Woodley that they liked for MJ, but that doesn't mean that Woodley should be the "MJ mould" for this franchise.

And I've always said that Emma Stone and Jane Levy do look too much alike to play these characters.

well, it's not like they were drawn with too many differences other than hair color, so wanting emma as gwen and jane as mj is just wanting canon!!!1111oneone

Boom. Ur rite. It is just liek the comics! I don't know what I was thinking! How foolish of me.

Thank God someone around here gets it.

If we're talking Mexican actresses from a pure looks standpoint (although she has won an award for best actress) I would say Angelique Boyer

Anahí is also more of a best actress award and also has an Ariel Award is the highest award given by the Mexican Academy of Arts and Sciences.

It really looks like the character and has played a character very similar to Mary Jane.

A character might be removed from a given story, but unless said character was a 'beta' or placeholder, they're usually not discarded. Even if Woodley doesn't return, I don't see Webb and Co. discarding their approach to the character, and therefore honestly believe that they will be looking for an actress who, like Woodley, reflects that take, which rules out actresses who are more supermodel than schoolgirl.

^ I disagree. There's nothing tying Webb & Co to the schoolgirl approach (or whatever they had originally planned for the character), especially if Woodley does not return (which they will figure out during/before preproduction of the next film.) The script for TASM3 hasn't been written yet, so if Sony, Webb, or the writers decided to change the direction of the character (whether it be 616 fiesty supermodel or ultimate brainy journalist) now would be the opportune time. With all of MJ's scenes completely cut out of TASM2's story, the character no longer exists. The writers are free to start from scratch in TASM3. As far as I'm concerned, nothing has been ruled out yet. And let's be honest, if they were truly happy and satisfied with their approach to MJ in TASM2, the character wouldn't have been completely scrapped from the film.
