The Avengers Who's going to die in the Avengers?

It's a Joss Whedon movie, so you know someone's going to die. Who's it going to be? If he doesn't turn out to be a Kree or Skrull, my money's on Agent Coulson.

Coulson will be revealed to be a Skrull. Then, when he eventually sees the error of his Skrully ways and saves the team, he'll be shot from behind and die in the arms of Cap, who will absolve him of his wrongdoings.

If Coulson is going to die, I bet that Clark Gregg now wishes that Joss Whedon wasn't attached to this movie. If it were another director, he might've had a long career in many Marvel movies. Now his chances of dying have been more than doubled.

I wouldn't be too comfortable if I were Colby Smouthers (sp?) either. Maria Hill isn't exactly integral to the future of the Avengers.

I think the heroes should be safe until the third movie.

Ok I am pretty new to these boards and I do not read a ton of comics. So I don't know what has happened in the past but as far as who will die in the avengers, I am taking cues from firefly/serenity. Im not sure about you guys but i had no idea Wash was going to die at the end. I think the same thing will happen in the avengers. Meaning that a close member of the team will be killed off. My guess for who that might be is Ironman. Im sure no one would agree...but I think that would pave the way for ant-man to join avengers 2. And I think RDJ will not return for an ironman3 film so this would facillitate that. I also agree that coulson wont be around much longer. But would he really be missed? I dont think so. Stark getting killed would be crazy and have a huge impact emotionally on the team. Ok, you may begin telling me im crazy.

Iron Man 3 is already in pre-production for a 2013 release. No way will they kill The Downey!

It just feels like someone will eventually get replaced with ant-man. Whatever though...Im new to all of this and enjoy speculating!

Whedon will not kill someone right off the bat, he only killed a main character at the start of a series once and it took 6 episodes to happen. Whedon does not kill to kill, he makes you deeply care about the character and as they reach the point where they can truely be happy or at there best, he rips your heart out. doubt there will be a death this early.

Wash, Kitty Pride, Preacher, Felicia Day's character in Dr. Horrible...

I'm not saying he kills people just to kill them. I'm simply pointing out that he has a history with this sort of thing.

yes but they werent death for shock value (well maybe Wash) it was all to push the stories and plus we knew alot of these characters leading up to it. He does have a history of death, hell fred nearly killed me, but I think he is going to try a different tone with this one. And Kitty didnt die. The only reason I can see someone die in this is if they die saving everyone and the group decides to stay together to honor that sacrifice.

iron man was on the team for many years and i don't think he will kill anyone in this movie.

I didn't say he does it for shock value and I'm not criticizing his history. I'm just saying that if he has a pattern, it's to kill off someone you care about. It's always done very well (with the exception of Wash), but it *is* done.

Jackson's signed on for like 9 movies. I highly doubt the rest of those movies will have him in flashbacks.

Just because they have him for 9 movies doesn't mean they need to or will use him for 9 movies.

Killing Iron Man would be killing Marvel Studio's Golden Goose (or Golden Avenger). At the moment he's their most lucrative franchise and may very well be the character that appeals to the public the most. Joss Whedon may have killed off characters, but he never killed off the main rainmaker. Sure, he killed off Buffy, but that was only to bring her back again, and I'm sure he had every intention to. No-one needs to die to make room for Ant-Man (who isn't even financially or commercially proven anyway). In the comics, until a 7-member rule was insituted, the Avengers' roster was crowded with easily at least 10 on a team, and others in reserve.

Maybe they'll introduce a new character (well new to the movies, old to us fans) & kill him/her off? I sort of don't think Whedon will kill Coulson off as it'd be too obvious.

It would be a powerful cap to the six planned movies if Coulson died: despite being a kickass agent he's like the everyman in these films, and he goes to the other side having met the most incredible characters.
