I am unsure why Joss Wheldon has this reputation, but if he was to kill off anyone, I'd put my money on Happy Hogan. Then they won't need to recast him for Iron-Man 3. And he did die in the comics.

He wouldn't die in an Avengers movie. An Iron Man movie, sure. But not here. Happy is only in one franchise. Coulson is in several.

None of the major characters will die permanently. Maybe temporarily, for example Thor sent to the afterlife or Iron Man's heart reactor shuts down, but none of the Avengers will die in this movie.

Maybe Doctor Selvig will be killed off. I have a feeling of that.

I don't think Hawkeye or Black Widow are going to be killed off, but at the same time, I don't think their spin-offs or the SHIELD movie are ever really going to happen anyway.

Since many of us think Coulson is likely a walking red shirt at this point, maybe the better question to ask or try to speculate about is just how we think he'll die. what would make the best use of such an act?

When I asked the question of how he should die, I was thinking more about what kinda of scenario would capitalize on a known character dying in the best, most emotionally effective way rather than simply what mechanism will be used to kill him. C'mon, this is the hype. Let's start spitting out scenarios to see who can come up with the best idea and eventually see who gets closest to what really happens(even though we still gotta wait a year to find out).

Maybe he dies near the end when Loki's plans are unraveling and he's on the defensive. He disguises himself as Fury during and escape and when he gets Coulson alone...WHAMMO! Right in the kisser. With a dagger.

I think it'll be Agent Coulsen. He's a cool character, so if he does die he'll be missed. Also Professor Selvig maybe.
