Why the Hate for this Movie?

i'll agree that BB had it's flaws but i don't think it's flaws make it a mediocre film. it raised the standard for superhero flicks regardless of the plot holes, awkward acting, and quickly edited fight scenes. it took fleshing out characters and ideas to a new level...which is something that this movie could probably have benefited from.

the chances that the action in this movie will be more entertaining than the action in BB are pretty good, but there's no way this movie could reach the level of BB. it would actually have to be creative in order to do that and i haven't seen much creativity from this production so far.

What exactly is so creative about Batman Begins? It was just a really bad mash-up of Year One and other Batman comics with some really horrible silly ideas thrown in for good measure. Again to each there own... Begins is pretty over-rated, though I like the cinematography.

To each there own... I give Begins some edge in terms of style and visuals, but over-all the movie is disjointed mess, with hokey plot points, and actors fitting really awkward in charicture roles that don't really become real till Dark Knight, plus the action is crap. So I could see myself easily liking this more than Begins, if it at least a fun ride. :)

As far as the action in BB, it was edited that way in order to keep Batman himself in mystery which never came across as a problem to me, and I agree with Dorky, DB and any sequels that follow wont even amount to BB. And if we still want to throw the trailer up, anyone could be mistaken and think that Chow Yun Fat is the main character in this film. This seems to be an ongoing thing with fox doing half ass jobs on adaptations. X-men and Fantastic 4 can be forgiving because it still followed in the spirit of the source material. To me, it seems like unecessary stuff was somehow made necessary for this film, and key elements that made DB unique were dropped in favor for "realism"

Stuff like X-men can be grounded in reality because they're universe wasn't much different from ours, DB seemed to have taken place in a different type of earth, talking animals, robots, etc. While some of it may have looked kinda cheesy, it actually made the show rather unique, so why not carry the same trend over into a live action movie. There are only two types of people that are going to watch this, fans and newcomers, It feels like this movie is catering more towards the newcomers.

as much as i'd love to defend BB from Movies205's criticisms, i also don't want to stray off topic. i'll just say that, despite BB's flaws and being overrated, it was a great undertaking that produced a pretty solid and thought-provoking movie.....which is a lot more than i can say about this movie from what i've seen. BB might have had to borrow from novels, but at least they took the source material seriously enough to follow and build upon it. that is the total opposite of what this movie is doing, which is making unnecessary and pointless changes that don't help the film. BB took strong ideas from the comics and made them stronger. this film took strong ideas from the mangas and made them weaker.

Dude i agree, in all honesty stuff like talking animals and what not would not have hurt the film, it would have made it unique. If you took all of the aliens and creatures out of Star Wars, it would be just another space themed film, but add in the aliens and creatures and look at the amount of attention it garnered, no one to my knowledge ever said that the film overwhelmed them with creatures, so why would they be omitted in something like DB, that was a part of their universe, the hair was a part of their universe. The whole "realism" thing may not work for something like this, it could actually water things down

The animals would have affected it, there trying to promo a serious action film. Talking animals would bring it down and its not even like itd be Narnia or Golden Compass type where there real looking animals.

In Dragonball theres pigs, dogs, boars, bears that stand upright and where clothes.

Itd be too kiddy.

If they wanted to make a serious action flick, they shouldn't have chosen a franchise that's full with silly and comedic elements.

Fox labels the film as a "Sci-Fi adventure".

same as F4 movies. This isn't the next x-men. This is the next F4 except we won't get a sequel because it might bomb at boxoffice especially domestically.

I just love it how you make speculation seem like fact.

My favorite part is how he connects the dots!

It's the same genre as FF so it's obviously the same quality!

Iron Man and TDK had the same rating so they were obviously the same film!!!

I sincerely envy DBZ2cool and his almighty prowess to see into the future of the cinematic world.:cwink:

"Actually, now that I think about it Dragonball has 2 A's in it's title. You know what other film has only 2 A's in it's title? Batman & Robin! :wow: Fox obviously did this intentionally to show how this film is headed in the same direction!"

i found many of those silly things to be the CHARM of the show. without the comedy and wackiness it would've just been a straight martial arts cartoon.....which it eventually evolved (or devolved) to.

DBZ is more popular because the action is better....not necessarily because the comedic aspects were toned down. regardless, this is Dragon Ball that they should have been making, not DBZ.

Dragonball was all about the characters in my opinion, thats what i loved about it, you actually cared about the characters, and to me this will be the clincher if they get the vibe of the personalities right.

The special fx could be the best in the world but if the feel of the characters ain't right then it ain't gonna work.
