Because now what seems to be "cool" among X-fanboys is to say they´ve loved Cyke since they were born, and that they´ve always hated Wolverine.
It was the same with Gambit...there was a time when there were like 1.000.000 Gambit threads around here, and I really don´t believe that all the people posting were die-hard Gambit fans. It was just that the right thing to do at that moment was to cry and moan about the injustice of Gambit being left out of the movie.

It seems to me that on these boards people just want something or someone to hate. Add in a natural tendency to support the underdog and we get the current Wolverine hatred.

Yes, Cyclops did get a raw deal, but would his fans have preferred to see him recast? James Marsden got poor reviews for X2, is not seen as a box office attraction and was unavailable for much of the production.

Whereas Wolverine has been seen as the standout of the franchise. They took a virtually unknown actor and turned him into a star. With a less charismatic actor, Wolverine wouldn't have dominated the franchise to this extent but would it have been as successful?

I saw X1, because I liked the idea of a Marvel comic book movie. I saw X2 and X3 for Jackman's Wolverine. I know I'm not alone.

It's not a trend to hate Wolverine, is it so hard too believe ppl dislike him because, oh, i don't know could it maybe they are fans of other characters who didn't really get too do anything because of all the focus on Wolverine Or maybe it's just as plain and simple as they don't find the character appealing. His powers where never that impressive, The fact that he could heal didn't make him human and made him unrelatable to me, and the claws was trying to get something cool out of nothing. All my opinion though.


James Marsden was giving one chance to shine in X2 and he cried, he did an incredible job and yet ppl thought it was too much(prob. because Cyke would never do that). Im not a Jackman hater but IMO Marsden can act circles around Jackman, Jackman needs to start practicing on not letting that accent through so much . I don't hate the guy he's good, i just think Marsden is better. As for these reviews? where? i havn't seen nor heard of them. Care to show me?

He´s the main character. Simple as that. Even if it´s a team, he was always supposed to be the main character in the movies. And it was not supposed to change in X3, and it´s not a surprise he´ll get his own spinoff movie.
Plus, I only see hatred on these boards. Not from the general public. It seems that the cool thing these days among fanboys is jump on the "I hate Wolverine" bandwagon. It´s like "you´re not cool, if you like him."
I could care less. I love the character, I love the way Hugh portrayed him, I love that he´s having his own spinoff. Hate him as much as you want, the fact that Wolverine is an amazing character and that it was recognized by the general public is not going to change.

Exactly...Wolverine is not only a popular character, he´s a wonderful character too. People keep on moaning and complaining about "too much Wolverine", but they forget that the fans put him on the place he´s now. And why? Because of his originality and complexity. Simple.
I will never get tired of watching and reading about him, either...

Any ensemble/team movie I've seen usually piggy-backs on one of the members to have their story come up front a little more. It's that way in star wars, ghostbusters, the only one i dont think had a main character as much was Black hawk down. Maybe that's what some wish for the x-men, but I prefer they try to keep it simple and focus on one character's development at a time which in effect will show us different sides of the people he/she interacts with in the story.

i do hate that he's been made to be the uber-x-man though and totally eclipses the rest. That's not how it's supposed to be.

I was a big fan of Wolverine ever since I saw the Animated Series, but after the 2nd movie I really saw how overrated he was. It was disgusting how oversaturated he was in the comics as well. I mean there are other characters to focus on. Wolverine needs to return as a supporting character and nothing more. He's already got his own comic, he doesn't need to guest appear in every other X-related comic.
