Will Hans Zimmer Score Superman?

I liked he did his own thing for Batman and I trust he won't be coming anywhere close to Williams's theme.

They should just call it superman begins if there going the clark discovering why he should be superman route. Easy to market, comparisons to batman begins, you really can't go wrong.

As much as I dont think it sounds great its a good idea to get across the fact that its a reboot and not a sequel to SR's

I hope they just go with The Man Of Steel as the title.

The studio will probably want Superman in there though.

I would say for the 1st one it should be called Superman. The 2nd could be called The Man of Steel but I think there should be a double meaning to it. I thinking maybe John Corbett as the main villian.

You mean John Corben

EXCLUSIVE: Hans Zimmer Scoring 'Superman'? Not So Fast.
December 6 5:12 PM 12/6/2010 by Borys Kit

As expected with information on the Internet, it travels fast and can get miscontrued. Last week word spread faster than a speeding bullet that Hans Zimmer was going to be doing the music for the new Superman movie, being directed by Zack Snyder. ("Hans Zimmer to replace iconic Superman score,” said Entertainment Weekly.)

Part of the fuel comes from the fact that Christopher Nolan, for whom Zimmer did the music for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Inception, is producing the new movie.

He is expected to reteam with Nolan for The Dark Knight Rises, as the third movie is titled, but as for Superman ... well, we’ll let Zimmer speak his mind to THR’s Kevin Cassidy.

THR: The internet is buzzing with rumors that you’ve signed on to Zack Snyder’s Superman project. Any truth to that?

Hans Zimmer
: You know, it’s like some dirty quote taken out of context. Let’s just be absolutely straight here: I have never in my life met Zack Snyder. I think I need to give him a ring. But here’s the thing: No Ronni [Chasen]. Suddenly all sorts of stuff starts flowing around with no warning.

THR: So if Ronni was still around this probably wouldn’t be happening?

Zimmer
: No! Absolutely not! You know, I can’t even remember ever talking about Superman. It's a little bit, you know, it’s a little bit like "guilty by association" isn’t it?

THR: Because of Batman?

Zimme
r
: I met Chris Nolan once and he knows Zack Snyder and therefore I’m doing Superman. You know that’s all it is.

THR: It may stem from the fact a lot of people would like to see you take that project. Based on the Batman films.

Zimmer
: How can I say it: My heart belongs to Batman. I wouldn’t even know how to go and give voice to it. I haven’t thought about it.

THR: Not to mention following in the footsteps of John Williams.

Zimmer
: Right! John Williams, the greatest living composer -- full stop. And that happens to be one of his greatest themes. So no. And I’m not thinking of rewriting Beethoven’s ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that’s unequivocally a no. I have never spoken with Zack Snyder.

LOL. I love how Zimmer equates trying to follow-up John Williams' Superman theme with re-writing Beethoven’s ninth and refers to it as a thankless task. Smart man.

Well, I hope you're all ****ing happy. :cmad:

Was literally JUST about to post this.

Thank you lord. Now, I am the farthest thing from a Zimmer-RC-MV basher. I love HZ and others to death, but I wasn't a huge fan of him doing this. Kinda in the same vein as Powell doing Captain (Horner would have been better imo)

Of the two Batman composers, I've always thought Howard would be a better fit for Superman.

This does mean though that Michael Giacchino could still be a possibiliy. There's the bright side I've been looking for.

Well, it was like re-writing Elfman's Batman theme. Zimmer himself said how, after Batman Begins' release, everyone told him to do a more Elfman-esque score and he would refuse every time. So it's not like it would have been the first time accepting such a challenge.

Ok, Zimmer is not doing it. I just want to know no one else is thinking that Williams's theme is the only way to go. Re-hashing that in a franchise not connected to Donner is simply cheap.

Realistically, I expect Snyder to bring on Hirschfelder or Bates. I'd be very surprised if Snyder went with someone else.

... and I'm glad Zimmer went on record debunking this. Hey, Mr. J or Hunter Rider, change the title to reflect the truth: "Hans Zimmer NOT scoring Superman."

Just more proof that Nolan is not hand holding Snyder and picking the cast and crew for him.

And now fanboys are going to ***** about the movie is ruined due to the Bat-Composer not working on it.

And it'll probably be the same ****ing people who were complaining about him being the composer last week.

It makes perfect sense, considering he's booked and there was never a mention of him doing TDKR in his schedule, so he'd be working on that in place of Supes.

I found that comment perplexing, considering how with his previous statements he encouraged the next composer to do their own thing.

And it'll probably be the same ****ing people who were complaining about him being the composer last week.
No, no it won't.

So he's not doing? Oh well, I'll have to focus my attention elsewhere.

This is disappointing. Now I worry about a Tyler Bates announcement.

Sawyer, this is EXACTLY what I'm hoping for. At least Zimmer knows what he can and can't do, though. I do think Giacchino is one of the only guys out there who I don't feel one ounce of trepidation about in terms of what I feel he could do for a Superman score.

I think John Williams would be awesome

The Watchmen score was greatly overshadowed by the song soundtrack.
