Will Zak Penn ruin Marvels future?

The only reason Marvel likes him is he's cheap. I think if Marvel give him enough guidelines he can't screw up too bad. Beside, directors and actors can add their own input like Ed Norton and the improv work done in Iron Man.

I can't see Zak Penn doing Avengers justice unless he gets a lot of help.

Doesn't Favreau want to direct it? If he's attached to the Avengers movie, I can't see it being a bad movie. The guy puts his heart and soul into his projects, and won't let it be ruined by a ****ty writer. Plain and simple. So lets keep fingers crossed that Favreau gets on board.

I just sayin i liked X-3 fine and it was amazing some scenes. If no one likes the Xavier death scene or bridge sequence then thats sad for that was wicked cool.
Also Avengers are differant from captain america. Also there are usually alot of writers on one movie.
So Penn should get all the bad credit.

It had some generic action sequences which IMO werent amazing at all, they were shot poorly, the majority had poor special effects and i for one just didnt give **** about the characters involved.

First, killing off Cyclops was a terrible decision. He could have been in X3, but Fox didn't want Mardsen back and wanted to punish him for doing SR. Look what else came that summer, Ian McKellan managed to be in X3 and The DaVinci Code because X3 was shot so late, most filming for the other pictures had finished. They could have accomdated Mardsen like McKellan but chose not to, so we get the character killed off. Fox also wanted Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) more center and wanted to write out "the other man," even though technically Logan was the other man.

Curing off Rogue was a terrible decision that all agreed upon. It should NEVER have been an option. As for Mystique. That was just shoddy writing. If they wanted to write her character out of the movie, fine. But they could have done it in a moving way. Have her cured and Magneto try to care for her, but she is extremely sad and Magneto kills her and uses her death to galvanize her supporters, etc. The relationship Singer built up between the two in X2 was a great one and for him to walk away from her in the same breath he says "You saved me!" was ridiculous. It was shoddy writing and unemotional because it rang out of character and hollow. Just as that whole scene where all the "bad mutants" join Magneto without asking questions or having any personalities or motivations of their own. They were there for SFX and the movie was blunt about as the writers didn't even try to explain them. Nor did they explain Magneto's actions well because it was out of character...like Wolverine becoming a team leader, Xavier talking like an ******* to his proteges, Rogue deciding to cure herself, etc.

The whole movie was a terrible decision, i honestly wish it was just erased out of existence, i hate it that much.

I have always said David Koepp would bea good writer for an Avengers movie. Spiderman is one of the better comic book films out there. Then theres Miller and Gough who are brilliant. Give Penn some help and he may do better.

Some of the **** you guys write on here is pretty effing incredible. The ridiculous rumors, blaming this guy for everything you didn't like, saying he wrote nothing in the movies you did like.

Has even ONE PERSON HERE READ THE SCRIPTS?

Have you seen Elektra?

His list of movies is not very impressive...I think he needs to stop working on comic films.

I really have no idea what is wrong with Penn, the guy is an accomplished screenwriter. He is bringing the heroes you know and love to life.

But his track record in bringing them to life can be described as half-assed.

Just saying.

yeah and making them as cheesy and non-vibrant as possible

the problem is is that he's doing it POORLY.

I've not been impressed by his work, and most of the work for TIH was Norton's, as I understand it. He must be related to somebody at Marvel or something...lol.

Unless you read the drafts of the writers, its pretty silly to blame the guy for the movies he worked on that you didn't like, but not give him credit for the ones he worked on it that you did like. Isn't it kind of convenient to assume that he is the problem on all of the movies, even the ones you think are well written?

Its like blaming a goalie for his team losing, then finding out he stopped fifty shots and let one go by. You need to understand the whole picture to figure out who is screwing up a movie.
