Bucky is a beast in this film, and he's definitely one of the main characters.
Awesome. Can't wait
(edit: does anyone know exactly which collider interview he's referring to?)Well here's a ******* #tbt So...back in the #wintersoldier film 2013, one day on set, as I was changing, I found that helmet in a bag. And it stared at me. I grabbed it and immediately after I took this picture, I sent it to Kevin Feige. Little did I know, that a few years later I would face the man. Let's go. #civilwar this weekend. See what this picture became. P.s. This is what the Russos referred to back in the collider interview. #wintersoldier
Howard Starks last words, "Sgt. Barnes?"...
I completely forgot that they knew each other.![]()
Bucky was fantastic in this. He actually had more to do than I thought he would, with more lines as well. Heck he probably had more to say than BvS Superman.
Some website actually counts that Spider-man in civil war got more lines than superman in BvS. That says a lot.
I went to see the movie again today for the fourth time. This is my thought.
Bucky barnes is a good man, captured by hydra and unwillingly turned into Winter soldier, a killing machine.
When he was finally free from the shackle of hydra after SHEILD collapsed, he doesn't get the peace he craved. Instead, he was hunted by various parties, all wanting to wreck vengeance on him.
He is a tortured soul. He understands the circumstances but it doesn't makes him feel less responsible. He carried alot of guilt in him. The worse thing is he is helpless about it.
By willingly puting himself under cyrostasis again, he has put everyone before himself. He is selfless, he is a hero to me!
Thought the scene where the other Super soldiers were beating on Bucky was hard to watch. And then Bucky getting his handler out the of cage area. It shows what a pawn poor Bucky has been all these years. I know he killed people as the WS but for goodness sake this dude needs some MCU LOVE! At this point he is the most tragic character. And then when tells Steve he needs to go into cryo until his head is fixed.....come on Stark! This guy is as selfless as Cap in his own way. Understood Starks reactions in the film but I also hope the Avengers can come together as family once more and extend it to Bucky.
Because he's not been portrayed well. His character is limited, the performance is limited, and his arc is minimal at best.
The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am with Bucky in this franchise, not just this film.
They've just done almost nothing with his redemption arc. He's been the same cold, distant superkiller through two films. Granted, in this film he's not so much a straight up assassin, but he's also not winning any good guy points.
The big redeeming moment in Bucky's arc came from Cap's character in TWS (the friend speech), but here...they just don't do much of anything with the character. And the resolution? Eh.
