**** I'm pissed enough this got moved now Shutter Island got moved in the same month?

Honestly what else is coming out in October for SI?

And this trailer looked great on the big screen.

Oh you saw Wolf Man trailer on the big screen?! Sweet!

Saw the trailer with Inglourious Basterds last night--it does look hella good. :woot:

They did a movie more purely based on the novel that's akin to and released shortly after Bram Stoker's Dracula that wasn't too bad with Robert DeNiro as the Creature. It changed a few things from the book, mostly involving Frankenstein's wife, but it was pretty good, actually. :yay:

Hehehe, you should watch out when you bring up that Frankenstein film made from and starring Kenneth Branagh. I really liked it but it always seems like a **** ton of people hate it bigtime for whatever reasons.

With the way Johnston has made this film look and feel, a new Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man would give me a coronary. I'd die with a smile on my face right there in the movie theater.

I have never obsessed over a movie trailer like I have with this one. I'm embarrassed. I have been studying it frame by frame all day long and it just looks so great and perfect...I can't get over it.
They seem to have taken it so seriously and also taken a risk with a Wolf Man look that could have been laughed at. But he looks incredible and vicious.

I hate to say this, because I have watched every werewolf movie ever made, but this trailer alone blows away every entire werewolf movie I have ever seen.

American Werewolf in London is great. But the werewolf didn't impress me. His face looked great but the body was awful and they barely showed him. The howl was the scariest howl I'd ever heard. It's a great movie but it wasn't the definitive werewolf movie for me.

I liked a couple of the Howling movies, but again, just not there yet.

Wolf wasn't entirely bad, the fight at the end was kind of cool, but the wolf men themselves were just ok. Not there yet.

Curse of the Werewolf, is one of my all time faves. It almost feels like this new Wolf Man movie is secretly honoring that movie as well. "Curse of the Werewolf" is a wonderful and epic werewolf journey. But still weak in many spots.

Dog Soldiers is just entirely over-rated. Did nothing for me. Just a few good scenes overall. Not the best werewolf movie at all.

The Underworld movies were good, not great, and the although the werewolves looked pretty cool, the movies didn't make them interesting enough.

Wolf Man 1941, which started my craze, is a beautiful movie, but even it has many weak spots and cheesy acting scenes. Yes, it was the time, but the constant reciting of the werewolf poem by everyone always bothered me.

Love the Paul Naschy werewolf movies, but they really are horrible dumb movies. I think I just loved Naschy's funny obsession more than anything.

These are all just my opinions, so please, no one get mad at me!

I am pretty partial to the classics. I personally prefer the Wolf Man as opposed to the Werewolf, if that makes any sense. I just like the "non-snout" wolf man, with the torn clothes, running and leaping and growling etc.

This new WOLF MAN movie is a total dream come true. An absolute GEM.
It is exactly what I was hoping for. My God, that shot of him jumping from roof to roof over London. Hiding and London Bridge in the back ground. Leaping onto the gargoyle and howling. The transformations look painful and real. When he's strapped to the chair and he lashes his tongue out and you see that subtle movement of his throat. When he leaps out of the dirt pit.
(BTW, Anyone notice the deer/buck in the background?)

There is something so unabashedly honest about it all.
So blatant and classic.
Everything about this movie screams perfection. That's why I am feeling like just the trailer alone blows all the others away.

Not sure how they'd take the sequels. I know Del Toro wants to do Frankenstein, but he's said that he wouldn't do a straight adaptation of the novel. He'd make something that combines all of the Frankenstein lore into one kind of action/adventure/horror film. He has said that he'd love to direct Frank Darabont's original adaptation of the novel before Kenneth Brannagh ruined it, but i don't know if that'll ever happen. But Del Toro has also said that his Frankenstein's Monster would look like Bernie Wrighston's:

If you don't own the Bernie Wrighston illustrated edition of Frankenstein, you're not a horror fan. It is BEAUTIFUL! But imagine that vs this Wolfman? It would be pretty epic. But herein lies a problem: Can it be possible to pull of a battle of the monsters and have it taken seriously? Think about it for a moment. It's kind of cheesy. Personally, i'd love it regardless. But could it be made a serious horror film? I don't know. I'd say throw in Dracula and just re-do Van Helsing. The movie was **** but i loved the idea. This time, make Van Helsing an older man like in the novel, knowledgeable in the ways of the supernatural. He knows who Dracula is, he is Dracula's bitterest enemy. Abandon all the crappy CGI spectacle nonsense. No gadgets reminiscent of James Bond. Give Van Helsing a team of sorts. Treat it like this film. And it could be good. Speaking of which, i really need to finish writing my Dracula film that encompasses the original 1931 film, the novel, and ideas proposed in the original treatment for the 1931 film and the first draft script. I abandoned it at first, thinking it too close the novel and wanted to change it to make it faithful, but creativity has gotten the best of me and i think i'll keep it the way it is.

I'd also suggest that before they think about sequels for The Wolfman, worry about getting Dracula and Frankenstein off the ground first, and then go from there. Because as i said, it's going to be complicated if they want to have cross-overs. Better start off seeing where the other characters are first, and try to work it out.

And CHEZ, don't be dissin' the Naschy! The man has a dedication that very few people have. Night Of The Werewolf, man. Check it out.

I also had this *****in'(in my opinion) idea for a Werewolf of London remake. But it seems that with this one taking place in London, it's kind of repetitive, but i need to flesh it out a bit. If this one doesn't end with Werewolf on Werewolf action, i could also figure out a way to incorporate Werewolf of London as a sequel....hmmm

I think once Wolf Man comes out and (hopefully) if it is successful, Universal Studios should look closely at using Wolf Man as a template to introduce all the other classic monsters in their own individual movies each year. Then bring them all together in one epic monster mash of a film.
With good writing and solid directing, it can be done seriously. I mean, this new Wolf Man could easily have been laughed at, but look at it, it looks incredible!
The Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein monster looks terrifying, and would be crazy awesome to see fighting the Wolf Man on the silver screen.
If set up in a strong, interesting plot that brings the creatures together into a climactic battle, audiences would love it.

AND NOOOO I am not dissin' Naschy!! HAHAHA! I love the guy and have seen every one of his movies. They're great! BUT, you know what I mean. They are for a certain taste of horror movie fan. They are not good movies.
They are not well directed, edited or well written. BUT they're a blast. I still love them. Naschy is Wolf Man royalty, man, you don't have to tell me!

Anyway, all your points are well taken. But they should wait and see how this Wolf Man movie does before launching into Dracula and Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon remakes. Because if Wolf Man is a big hit, they should build these individual movies and keep them the same universe so they can later bring it all together in one movie....which would be the last day of my life....

By the way, good luck with your writing!

What's the budget for this movie? From the looks of the trailer, I would guess $70 million?

I remember seeing the Comic Con bootleg from last year and it seemed very odd to me that this movie's release date kept getting pushed back because the footage at Comic Con was awesome...and much of it is in the official trailer. Makes you wonder if it's all a big ruse and the movie really sucks or if it's just one of those unlucky movies that gets screwed over with its release date, such as Zodiac (got moved from fall 2006 to spring 2007 and flopped...also got snubbed at the Oscars with zero nominations because of its release date).

I may be a little late but i just ran into the trailer for the Wolfman film and i have to say that from what I've seen it looks excellent. I was pretty captivated by the small amount of scenes in the trailer especially by the transformation scenes!. Here's another movie to look forward to:up:...

So how many transformation do you guys expect to see from Talbot? Three at the most for me. The first time, maybe a second somehow and murders again and finally the time when he's in the room in London being watched by the crowd in the room then reaks havok on London.

I'm anxious as hell to see how the Wolfman chasing Gwen in the woods will work out.

Three sounds about right. Unless...
a fourth change comes when he is faced with the final confrontation against PapaWolf.
I'm sorry but I think we really are in for a papa vs son werewolf fight.
I like the idea, but I know there are many here who don't.

But, I could see that happening....

Wow. The trailer was surprisingly good. I didn't wait this from Johnston.

And this needs to be R. I want to see some brutality! Blood and gore everywhere!

Watch the CC trailer. There is. And it's not PG-13 violence. Del Toro's eyes are blood shot and his face is bloody. This has to be R. With all that blood. It better be.

Shakira can do the soundtrack for the sequel, The She-Wolf.

As long as the violence isn't the centerpiece of the film, this should be good. If this is gratuitous for the sake of it, this movie fails already

Transformations, if they haven't altered much of the script, is 3, if im not mistaken.

Saw this trailer last night and it was glorious. GLORIOUS!!

I am of the mind that there should be no sequels. First, I'm worried about the movie's quality gien it being moved now three times. But if it is as good as it looks, let it stand. Those old Universal horror monster mashes of the '40s were fun in a campy way, but they were never great like the chilling classics of the '30s (and 1941 with the Wolf Man). You have to camp it all out to put them all in a movie and we just saw that with Van Helsing (which could have been MUCH BETTER than it was). But this looks like a classically made horror film, similar to when Coppola did his version of Dracula. That film needed no sequel and neither should this . The Wolf Man, like the original, should end in tragedy. While it is okay to tack on campy sequels in the '40s, I don't want to see that now and I KNOW Benecio Del Toro would never do them.

Hopefully this rocks. I am down for another adaptation of Frankenstein. It doesn't even have to be as faithful to the book, as I am of the mind that James Whale's two pictures in the '30s were far superior. But more fun in that regard would be fun.

As for Dracula. I don't need to see another adaptation ever again unless it is faithful to hte novel. I've seen a number of classics based on the novel with Nosferatu, Lugosi's and Coppola's. I've seen plenty of Draculas. I don't think we need more unless it is to finally do the novel justice.

God, I can't wait to see this movie. Been a Wolf-Man fan for years, this flick is gonna rock. Oh and for the record Branagh's Frankenstien was a masterpiece.

...a masterpiece??? Really? I mean it is enjoyable but still...

Did I just hear CHEZ saying Dog Soldiers was overrated?! Blasphemy I tell you!!!

Oh and for the record Branagh's Frankenstien was a masterpiece.

Must respectfully disagree there.

Neither Coppola's Dracula nor Branagh's Frankenstein were the genre-redefining masterpieces they were sold as, but Frankenstein is definitely the weaker of the two.

I'm very curious. I saw the Avatar and Wolfman trailers yesterday and Wolfman is the film I'm anxiously awaiting.

Did I just hear CHEZ saying Dog Soldiers was overrated?! Blasphemy I tell you!!!

I'm sorry, Doctor Jones. I meant no offense to a fellow werewolf fan.
It's just that after so many years of werewolf movie watching, to hear people talk about Dog Soldiers as being this fantastic werewolf movie just irks me a little. And on top of that, there's actually a list online of the best werewolf movies of all time and it places Dog Soldiers at number one.
I mean...number one? Come on, that's absolutely ridiculous, man!

Well, not number one, but definietely in the top best. Top five I would say.

It's a fresh take. Like Predator but with werewolves and a british team stuck up in a house defending themselves. With great characters and done on a low budget.
