Wolverine VS. Sentinel clip

"Yeah...good luck with that." was funny, especially coming from Logan's mouth :p

I can't believe people are rating a 58 second unfinished clip like it's the whole movie.

Sometimes I get depressed that I hang around internet message boards

Then I remember light bad

light very very bad

Coupled with the trailer...I think it is fair... If that is what the producers feel is a worthy representation of the movie they are making, then I think we have every reason to speculate that this movie is not going to as good as we have been lead to believe.

ok i don't ahve time to read 56 pages and although yea i kinda didn't like the way colossus looked that much either i want to know why everyone else keeps saying they should of kept it like in x-2 it think they are the same someone explain to me the difference? and i will argue against it :D

I think by "X2," people just mean they want the effects to be better. It's not so much that it appears to be different than X2, it just doesn't look as good as X2's. The only difference thus far (that I can tell), is that it doesn't look as good, and the hair is different. Aside from that, you got me?

Even though it might be considered a cheap way of handling the Sentinel for that particular scene, I thought the way it was done was well executed...especially if you watch it in a theatre (with loud speakers), and not expecting it to happen.

I just didn't like Logan appearing from behind it like that. Maybe they'll fix it with editing?

I'm very inclined, with pretty much full confidence, to believe that there will be NO footage of completed special effects and SFX anytime before the movie is officially released...

I've understood from the X2 days that in almost every case, the sound and effects are the very last things that they work on...Now, they CAN'T edit these clips for TV and BHS features and work on the effects on the entire film at the same time, so the effects, editing, and music/SFX in the tv spots, trailers, and whatever clips that you see, will NOT be exactly what you see/hear in the final film version...

Not even the finished Nightcrawler effects were revealed in any BHS feature or clip until the movie was released, and I was pleasantly surprised at how different/improved it became after just watching an exclusive on FOX where the effects were slightly different...

I remember in one particular case in particular, was an editing job.

Was anyone catching the X2 clips here 3 years ago? Well, back when X2 was in production/post production, they showed a clip of the scene with Bobby, John, and Rogue running in the mansion when the soldiers stopped them at the doors as they were trying to escape and Wolverine jumps off the mezzanine at the soldiers. When he's done with them, he gets into a Wolvie-stance and retracts his claws and we see his back and Bobby, Rogue, and John are looking at him. In almost 75% of all the clips and tv spots or whatever that showed this clip, they showed the unedited frame with Shawn, Anna, and Aaron standing on lifts/boxes.

I was worried about this for a while and it kept happening. I'm around 60% sure, but I think it was even shown this way in a clip shown on a talk show and I was a little bit worried. But, in the final film, the boxes are cut out and everything was good...There are a few more examples of this, but I won't go into details about the others.

After doing more thinking on this, I'm gonna revert and say again, for a clip with as much complexity and special effects as this one, I say, there is no way that we're seeing a finished product. Even Kinberg/Penn have said it sometime a few weeks ago and I'm starting to agree/remember...We won't know what the final effects/sound effects will look like until we see the full film in its entireity in 4 weeks. There's very little that can convince me otherwise.

 But that was only a 58 second clip, which wasn't even the whole scene!!! Like LS said, it was just a clip to make Wolverine look good, it was cut in between. The final cut will probably be better, besides, the Danger Room isn't the main focus of the movie!!!

i think one of the things that played a difference in colossus from x-2 and this clip is that in x-2 he has this white blue glow because of the flash light and now we see him with a red orange color but it all varies cuz of how his metal reflects. Im not complaining im just saying.

It scared the hell outta me. I was like, "Woah!". And then...

Maybe he was hiding inside? Doesn't matter, the actual effect of him walking right from behind it was so awesome.

I wouldn't go that far! The trailers were fantastic. This is a 58 min, heavily edited clip taken out of context with, more than likely, temp music.

I fully agree. The X2 clips were all mostly unfinished as well

Oh, I am sorry I do not just accept what ever is thrown at me as being good. My bad, my bad. Enough with these remarks. They serve no purpose to what is going on.

Ok I finally saw the clip and that thing was AWFULL!!!!!!!!! Horrid dialogue, crappy effects, and poor acting. Just a really, really bad clip.

Good point. I think a lot it is unfinished. However, I worry that someone at FOX actually might think that Colossus looks good enough and doesn't want to spend the money to fix him up. And with time running out, they might have to be selective with what they choose to touch up/enhance and Colossus might not be a high priority.

Wolverine didn't magically pop out from behind. I don't understand why some got that impression. He's walking from where ever he landed after he cut the Sentinel head of. It just so happens that we, as the viewer, don't see him until he reaches the head of the robot.

If he was standing right behind it the whole time, then he wouldn't be walking the way he did when he appeared.

Great post, TNC. I've been wary of the whole "It's unfinished!" defense I keep hearing because no one ever seems to back it up with anything. But you've provided some good examples of the same thing happening with X2, which is helping put my mind at ease.

Colossus is a big part of this film and has been said that he metals up a lot. They will take their time and money to make him look good. I promise...he will look better come May 26th.

It was not temp music. If it was temp music then they have a serious problem in the scoring department. The score should be nearly done by now and they should be practically finished mixing the sound. You all need to face reality. The effects are more than likely done in this shot...Colossus will look like that on film. ANd, I disagree, while decently edited, the trailers featured some fairly over the top action and very bad wirework (wolverine and beast) in addition to some cringe worthy dialogue (cage the beast, anyone?)

Sigh. Will people forever judge prematurely? Obviously it's a clip showcasing an unfinished product and as it is the clip was entertaining. All of this useless ranting is just moot. There's A LOT to like in this clip. And the stuff not to like is naturally unfinished and henceforth it would be futile to dissect and try and pick it apart, piece by piece as some posters are attempting to do.

So what about the millions of people who watched the show? Are the supposed to deduce that from the clip? Was that somehow implied? You are not thinking on a large enough scale, I think. The producers felt that the clip was good enough to show on national television as representation of how the film will be. Are you sayin you acknowledge the fact that the clip is not very good?

:O it's too bad they did, i feel that as x-men fans we should be the one who need to stay positive for the films sake cuz if we rip the movie apart (which we have the most power to do so) then what will other non comic book fans say?

Exactly. It also makes his eventual appearance that more exciting; because we don't expect him to come out, when he does it's a "Woah, awesome!" moment of unexpectedness. That's the thrill Brett was undoubtedly trying to convey and he did it brilliantly. We're expecting Wolverine to be possibly injured or wondering where the hell he is and him just walking casually right from behind the Sentinel is just classic. Really well done.
