Worst Attempts at Accents EVER

Yeah, it takes practice. Most pronunciations in any English dialect are imitable. Although whenever I attempt an Australian I can never get that deep "o" sound. Can't ever be perfect unless its your natural. Even if your parents were from another country and you lived in the US your entire life, it's tough sounding completely caucasian American.

Brad Pitt's accent in.. well, every movie he needed to do an accent for

You never seen Snatch? Believe me, coming from someone with experience of pikeys, his accent was SPOT ON.

And Jason Statham's so called "American" accents are terrible. Glad to see he is just sticking to playing the Londoner in America in his films these days.

Jason Isaacs in Black Hawk Down, Cate Blanchett in The Gift, and Christian Bale in Public Enemies.

Jason Issacs awesome his done about 3 different types of American accent and they where all pretty good.

William H. Macy's performance in Fargo comes to mind, not saying it's super bad, I just think it was just a tad over the top. The keys to their accents up there are more subtle in the longness of their vowel sounds.

i thought it was a good attempt at a southern accent

I was responding to someone who said there's a few Brits who do good Southern accents. The accents I mentioned were all perfect or nearly so.

Ralph Fiennes and Clive Owen can't do American accents to save their lives.
Joseph Fiennes is even worse at the Yankee accent. check out The Great Raid, he way overcompensates on those r's.
"I'd like to be herrre ferr yerrr surrrrenderrrrr."

Seeing the new Inglorious Bastards tv spots, Brad Pitt does a cringe worthy job at his dialect. I don't even know what it is. Redneck/southern/hick/????

I'm sure this has already been talked about but it's on tv every 5 f'ing seconds.

Aren't they all the same? This is the mind of Tarantino here.

Word.

To make it clear to everyone mentioning Cruise not using a German accent, it was because Bryan Singer felt the accents would distract the audience from the focus of the film.

ya....cuz that makes sense. Every1 had a accent in the film except Cruise, so making it switch from German to english for the audience as translation is pointless especially if every damn character in the movie maintains their german accent, but one character miraculously develops an english one. The only reason they dropped the accent was cuz Cruise couldnt friggin pull it off.

I thought that all of the different accents in that movie were hilarious. Angelina did this weird German thing, Kilmer did the traditional vaguely British-y accent that most Americans use when playing Ancient Greeks or Romans, Farrell just said "**** it" and stuck with his Dubliner accent, and Rosario Dawson did this bizarre multipurpose accent that people used to convey bi racial looking quasi Eurasian-ish characters. Hilariously bad stuff all around.

That sounds hilarious. I should watch it sometime.

Every accent in Van Helsing sucked a$$.
Sucked...hehe. Vampires...GET IT!

Oh...and this...

Stephen Graham - Public Enemies

Your kidding right
I thought his accent was very good and considering the other accents listed in this thread , i hardly think this was the WORST ATTEMPT at an ACCENT

Stephen Graham is a great actor. And considering his normal accent is a thick Scouse (Liverpool) accent, pulling off any other accents is about 1000000000 times harder for him.

btw i know he did is for the laughs but Mike Myers so called dutch accent in Goldfinger is in fact german. I haven't seen Inglrorous Bastards yet but judging from the trailer , his british accent also seems forced.

Also is it just me or does the southern accent seem to be the "easiest" thing to master when non-american actors try to talk in a american accent ?
SOmetimes it works ( Kelly Macdonald in No Country For Old Men) and sometimes it's so-so ( Jason Isaacs in Black Hawk Down).

Yea I think a southern accent is quite easy. I can do loads of different accents (more for comedy rather than realism) and the southern one is probably the easiest I find. I do them on the phone to my mates sometimes I'm like "Now lissun herre boy, this is ma town ya hear!" or some **** :D

Myers is so obsessed with European accents, it's not funny. I know he's Canadian from a Scottish heritage, but wow...

Bale's got a good American accent. I remember listening to the commentary on American Psycho and they were discussing how Bale stayed in his characters voice throughout shooting (being a method actor) and then at the wrap party he switched to his natural accent and everyone was caught way off guard

He i remember watching the LOTR:TTT extended edition dvd and they were interviewing Brad Dourif . Brad , trying the method actor approach , talked with his Grima Wormtongue accent all the time and once the shoot wrapped he swittched to his normal america accent.
It's quite funny to see him talking in his Grima accent when the camera wasn't rolling ( he was saying something like " That's a big Ten-O" ) and then when he wrapped the scene where he stabbed Chris Lee , he switched to his american accent and said "You should see me with a 357 MAgnum. I'm awesome ! "

I blame southpark for completely ruining my attempts at trying a southern accent.
"dey turk errr jeobs!"

I know Myers is obsessed iwith trying to nail a scottish accent but IMO he just fails at it every time. Fast Bastard. Shrek. Just horrible.
