Would the movie have been better without Venom?

I wouldn't remove any of the villains. I loved all 3, no matter what their amount of screentime was.

The simple answer to this question is...no. Although I don't particularly like Venom much, he redeemed the film. He was what made the ending badass. Sandman sucked. I my eyes, the film was best once Peter lost the symbiote and it bonded to Eddie. That's where it picked up.

Yes and No.
Eddie Brock had no time to develop, but he was the only true villain (other than Dark Spidey) of the movie. Eddie's scenes were very hurtful toward the movie, and should've been for Sandman or Harry, but Sandman and (especially) Harry were nothing more than wasted opportunity, while Venom, for what little time he had, succeeded in what his purpose was for the movie.

This movie should have just gone with one new villain and the continuation of Harry's story.

Just replace sandman and venom with the Lizard and it's gold.

They dropped the ball by thinking only about $$$, now with box office doing so well they have no reason not to make another sloppy movie with lots of villains running around in it.

Some people don't want that and that's why there's such a harsh critical reaction. We've already jumped off this bridge before!

Harry's costume should of had a latex Goblin mask,and he should of used his father's glider.

We should of seen Harry and Peter have more battles with each other all through out the movie.

Peter should of taken off the black costume when he thinks he killed Harry,not when he pushes MJ.

This movie could of had the best cliffhanger that any movie has ever had if they would of ended this movie in the church scene with the last shot being of Venom.And Venom in that shot should of looked like the Venom at the battle royale.

There is no doubt that it would have been better without Raimi's "Venom". Not only did it subject us to a weak symbiote origin and Topher's excruciating acting but it bloated the story. The focus should have stayed more on Sandy, Gobby 2 and Gwen Stacey.

Well, I really think Sam dropped the ball with all the characters in this movie, you didn´t like his venom and topher acting (I actually liked venom, even if he acted a little bit to similar to carnage and I like Thoper, and his eddy). but I didn´t like his view of sandman, and we didn´t even got a new goblin, just a guy in a flying skateboard (not to mention Harry morronic face and smile with his amnesia)

this movie should have been about MJ and peter relation his going down the drain, Harry causing the death of gwen, a violent black spiderman, Peter vs Eddy and finally venom

Here's an Idea...Lets introduce the symbiote (which has a BIG part of Venom involved) and only have Venom last 20 minutes...those last 20-30min or so, was made by Venom, Venom WAS spiderman 3, no one gave a **** about sandman, not ganna lie though, he was pretty bad ass without a doubt...But the movie should of been based around VENOM, and not sandman, if not, then based around venom, more than sandman.

I have seen so much of what you posted in regaurding this movie and Venom and disagreeing with you. But I gotta back this idea of yours 100% and works out quite better for everyone then the film we got.

Raimi didn't like Venom, so Venom should have been saved for a director who DID want Venom in the movie. I don't have too big a gripe with Raimi's Venom, just that Avi should have let him at least do it as 3 and 4 rather than having to cram it into 3 and have it be so brief.

I have a feeling that next year after the 3.5 release, there's going to be a completely different dvd release which focuses more on just the Sandman, Harry and the symbiote. Harry might not be dead just yet.

Alright here is my stance...

I think the movie could have potentially been better without 'VENOM' but i would have still kept his origin and the symbiote in it.

I would have limited his appearance to his meeting with sandman where we don't see his face or apperance but merely his sillhouette and he would tell flint to capture mj and take her to the construction site. Where harry and pete would then do battle with not only one giant sandman but minature replicas of himself that have taken the whole site hostage.

harry still dies saving pete but sandman is half defeated, has his talk with peter but instead of running away, pete promises to help his daughter if he hands himself in.

marko stops and gets taken in, harry dies, pete goes to harry's funeral but also sees uncle ben while he's there. Pete and MJ have their little dance...

then final swing at dawn where it starts off with someone in a red and blue suit, then his costume starts to go dark, webbing starts coming from the top of the wrist and it turns to venom, where he then lands on the top of the church and screams at the top of his voice while the camera zooms back.

END.

What if the butler never told Harry about what went down? In fact instead of Spidey showing up to ask for Harry's help what if Venom had showed up @ the end bearing a proposition to kill Spiderman together followed by a "To be Continued" screen in comic book text. It probably would've been better if Venom had teamed up with Harry.

Okay I'm going to post on here how I would have done spider-man 3. Forgive the diaologe, because I'm merely trying to get to the point. I can't post a whole script of here, not that I'm capable of writing one.

I'm not done typing it yet, but I have the whole thing written in my mind. It will probably take like 10 minutes to read, if even as it's just a summary. The opening scene has more detail than the other scenes as it's necessary.

For right now I'm just posting the beginning as like a teaser. I swear that many of you will think what I'm writing here is better than what we got. I'm not saying what we got sucks. I just feel it's nowhere in the same league as the last two movies, and it kind of put the franchise in a dead end.

I'll start a new thread when I'm done, but I didn't want to yet. I just wanted to give you guys a teaser so that way more people would read it when I post it. I swear it's worth reading.

Lizard, Symbiote, Dock Ock, and Harry Osborn

I swear it's not crammed, and it's not full of farfetched insane coincedences. there is no emo peter in this story either. He doesn't suddenly go shopping for different clothes just because he gets the symbiote. If you like it, please ask a few other posters to read it, so it gets quoted and shows up on the next page or so.


Movie starts off like so

Peter talking about how great life is, how Mj got a great new job and in a few months they are moving in together, he's doing so great at school, that conners gave him a job helping him with some very important research, and Jonah is giving him a high profile assignment. Jonah: " peter I want you to fly to cape canaveral, and cover my son John landing back from his mission" peter; "what mission is that sir" "I dont' know, he's bringing some hunk of dirt back from that planet. what planet is that robbie?" Robbie "Mars Jonah"

Eddie is there, and jonah says he will be covering it with him too.

cut to MJ's apartment. she walks out of the bathroom to see peter hanging upside down from the ceiling in his underwear, t-shirt and spider-man mask. they do their kiss. she tells him his weight is going to ruin the ceiling. And peter smirks "hey I think I'm in pretty good shape here"

cuts to Peter and Brock on the airplane. something interesting happens to help interesting conversation. Maybe brock getting a flight attendant's phone number.

cuts to cape canaveral.

Reporter standing in fron of camera at cap canaveral "Two years ago today, NASA sent a rover to the surface of the planet Mars. After obtaining a sample of the martian soil, it flew back to the International Space Station where astronauts loaded it onto a shuttle, with the intent to fly it back to earth so that scientists can study it for signs of ancient life."

Onboard the shuttle the symbiote creeps out of a container.

Cuts back to brock and peter talking about something. have brock trying to get peter to hit on some hot chick, but he wont.
Cuts back to shuttle.. The symbiote englufs John. He flails around bumping into controls. His partner grabs something heavy and tries to hit the symbiote but hits something else instead, causing an electical spark and fire.

then some kind of siren goes off, the reporter says "something is very wrong. the shuttle is coming in with an irratic flightpath" the shuttle falls in the ocean which is right near by.

Brock says : "Whoa this will make a great story. wont it pete?" he looks to see pete is gone. "peter?"

Spider-Man comes to the rescue, getting the astronauts to saefty on top of the shuttle which is floating. John is rambling franticly about something he saw in the shuttle.
A helicopter drops down to get the astronauts. Peter is about to climp up, when something triggers his spidey sense, but in a weird way. Almost like it's calling to him. He goes back inside. The crowd stares silently as the shuttle sinks.

 

[Eggyman]

I love SM3, but I would have never put Venom in the same movie as Peter's struggle with the Symbiote. We needed a full film to show how the Symbiote corrupted Pete/Spidey, and then setting up Venom for a full movie so we can see the BEST aspects of Venom -- stalking Peter, playing mind games . . . they were always the best parts of Venom IMO, not the fighting.

I think it might have been better to introduce Eddie Brock, utilizing a little bit more character development, saving Venom for a sequel and have the villainy focused on Sandman and Harry. It seemed to me like Harry's emotional attacks on Peter were all too brief.

The mistake was that they rushed it. I can understand why. At first I think the studio that this was the last one. And everyone wanted to see venom so they through him in there.

This movie was okay I'm glad I didnt pay to see it thought.

any one who has worked with producers (I'm an artist in the games industry) will tell you producers think like this:

if X number of selling points = X amount of money
they Y number of selling points = Y amount of money

absolutely NO JOKE

it isn't a question of quality its a question of money.
spider-man 1 and 2 made heaps of money they just HAPPEN to be good movies. I'm telling you right here right now the produces of BB would trade their critical acclaim for SM3 BO in a new york minute.
