The Dark Knight Rises Would you consider Jim Carrey for Nolan's Riddler if he never did Batman Forever?

No. I would consider Sean Penn or Jeremy Renner.
Interesting choice, specially Renner, a great actor imo. It made me also think of Sam Rockwell as the Riddler (probably because of the Jesse James connection).

Riddler's narcissistic. I'd imagine he'd have doses of charisma to complement that side of him.

Hmmm... I worked with a narcissist that had no charisma at all once... I swear if he had charisma and a personality he could have been a cult leader... any way I like Jim Carrey but I don't think a serious Riddler is meant for him.

Oh god. In a heartbeat. Do you guys remember the performance Nolan got out of Robin Williams in Insomnia? Scary as hell. That's beside the fact that Carrey is a fantastic dramatic actor when big studio heads give him opportunities outside of "Fun with Dick & Jane" and "Yes man"

^^ One of my favorite movies of all time.

Definatly, he has matured so much as an actor... he would be the perfect choice for a more 'Nolan Universe' Riddler

I agree, I think a post-Gondry Carrey could work for a darker take on the character in the Nolan universe. He is a great actor.

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind... one of my favorite movies. Yeah I would consider Jim Carrey, I like most of his work and he does it great. But he´s already done the Riddler, so I don´t think neither Nolan or Carrey himself would like that. Carrey´s prescence in Forever is the main reason I won´t cast him as the Riddler, he has done his part. I am not saying he couldn´t do it, yes he can, I just don´t see it happening.

Yes, if Carrey was awesome enough to continue doing some more 'serious' dark roles, like in Number 23.

He would be able to play him if he put a lot of effort into it.. but like you said, since he already did Riddler in Forever, and it was cheesy then what with the whole camp Burtonverse and the bad Two-Face, no one knows if he'd be able to come up with an entirely new Nolan!Riddler. Or if anyone would take his character seriously, because of Forever's Riddler.

Yes. I would consider him now and do. just because something is not going to happen doesn't mean one can not imagine or consider the notion.

After how shocked I was about Ledger being cast as Joker, and seeing how it turned out (pwned all), I wouldn't say no to any actor playing a certain role, within reason.

PIcture John Cusack as Craig Schwartz in "Being John Malkovitch"
Sans the goof-times glasses and beard, this eccentricity would be great as Riddler.
****, Spike Jonze could probably deliver a great Batman entry. I can even picture a NIcolas Cage riddler. He's got such a great manic energy. Look at Matchstick Men and what is probably the most under-rated movie of the past 5 years "The Weatherman"

I agree with "Cage's manic energy" but I'm not sure that it is the main trait of the Riddler character, I certainly don't want to see a repeat of BF. Other than that Cage is a great actor so it's a pretty good idea.

Jim Carrey the actor for Riddler in BB3? No. Jim Carrey's Riddler for BB3? Not in an eternity. That interpretation of Riddler was perfect for Schumacher's vision, probably why some people actually like it. However, it does not suit the classic interpretations of that character in the comics, and fans know it. Even if Jim were to play an entirely different version (which isn't what the OP was asking, anyway), his presence would still connect the Nolanverse to the previous four films, which would destroy the whole point of a new franchise.

I still wish he could've got a shot to be the Joker actually, maybe not Nolan's version, but a straight comicbook permawhite Joker. If there was anybody born to play Mr. J, it was certainly Jim Carrey, at least from a physical standpoint, although he's shown the ability to act as well

I think Carrey could reprise the riddler role, as long as it was something new, redesigned from the ground up. (no sparkling white jogging suits this time please) but i doubt that nolan would want him. Who ever said cage....................really............................rea...bah..........................really? Cage has a habbit of taking a good sceen and completely over acting it and messing the whole moment up( any one remember "no, not the bees"). And as far as people all jumping on the bandwagon for depp, poop on that... ya im 100% sure the guy cold go the role, know why? because we've already seen him play that charcter type so many times. I want a actor that isnt the obvious cop-out choice. When it was first annouced that ledger was the joker i was like " are you serious? the homo if BrokeBack?" and now I have dudes giant poster hung on my wall.

so then to recap: Carrey-considerable(but not really), Cage-lol, Depp-pass

^^^^Cage did wonderful, subtle, restrained, work in "Leaving Las Vegas" among other films, I'm not saying he should be the Riddler but with the right director he can be really great imo.

I honestly think jim carrey could do great being the riddler again and would not be dissapointed one bit if he was casted.

People mentioned this, but look at him in The Number Twenty-three. It was kinda weird movie, but Carrey did awesome in the role about the guy being obsessed with that number. Apply that to the riddler except with the obsession with riddles.

doesnt look exactly like him, but i can so picture Carrey in that pose.

Carrey is a great actor with great range, unfortunately he probably won't be the Riddler again, damn you Schumacher.

Yeah, as long as they leave the day-glo neon orange wig out of it this time... Seriously, what was up with that?

Absolutely! He could pull off a Nolan style Riddler just as effectively as a campy, cartoony one. He's a very brilliant actor with a wide spectrum in terms of what he can portray. For instance, someone posted a picture from The Number 23, 'nuff said! :woot:

But yeah, chances of Jim returning for the role are pretty much non-existant... I'm not sure it would be right.
