Wrestling Formally Announces Its Intention Of Interfering In This Thread - Part 235

The UK Championship looks great, but there are some questions I have:

- Is this title UK only? Or is it only for British/Irish wrestlers and can be defended on US Soil between two British wrestlers?
- If the latter is the case, will there be a UK Championship match at WrestleMania 33?
- Will Brits/Irish already in WWE like Neville, Sheamus, Noam Dar, Finn Balor and Jack Gallagher compete for the title?

Also, Nigel McGuinness will go from calling ROH matches with Kevin "Hermie" Kelly to Michael "Maggle" Cole. That's a push.

Oh yeah....

Cole did say he had been trying to get McGuiness for some time now

people seem to forget that Cole is in charge of putting together the announcers/commentators

Im excited

apparently ROH is none too pleased that McGuinness went to WWE

also Michael Elgin is done with ROH, citing communication issues with management

He didn't close the door on ROH entirely

Q: You were with Ring of Honor, and of course Ring of Honor and New Japan have the working relationship. Any Ring of Honor stuff for you in the immediate future?

ELGIN: No, you know what, I reached out to them about January 14. I had that weekend open and they never responded, after saying that I'd be on all the shows they do in the States when I'm home. And maybe they're just taking their time, but I've already filled that date now. So, I'm not waiting for them. I'm a New Japan talent. And I'm going to do whatever's good for my career. I believe that I'll be at Wrestle Circus in Texas now on that date, and they have a great following. Fans are really supporting them, and I want to be part of that—one to try and help maybe get some fans of mine who aren't familiar with Wrestle Circus familiar with Wrestle Circus, and get them some more following.

Q: So, they [ROH] didn't even say no. They just didn't respond at all.

ELGIN: I mean, don't get me wrong. They had Final Battle last week, so I'm sure they're busy. They might respond next week, but now I've already filled it because I've announced that I had that date open. Found out they had a date and reached out.

...

And if you're not a fan of me, all I ask is that you support wrestling. Whether it be NWA Smoky Mountain, whether it be Ring of Honor, PWG, EVOLVE, whatever local shows in your neighborhood, please just support wrestling.

Outside of joint NJPW shows (if asked to be a part of course) I'll no longer be working for ROH.

Basically, ROH isn't making him a priority right now so he's not making them a priority. He's going to focus on NJPW and hit up indie shows in the US/Mexico/Europe when NJPW isn't touring.

Nigel McGuinness is not bad as color commentator.

It's a divisional championship. It's like how the Crusierweights can fight wherever they want, but they can't defend against people outside of the division.

So rest easy, Roman will not be a UK Champion anytime soon lol

I think the UK title, might be my favorite current WWE title design.

And be like D'Lo and hail from whatever city they happen to be in.

Hopefully Neville can be UK Champion since he can't be the CW Champion since the WWE won't let him appear on 205 Live.

Well remember, it's really supposed to be a spotlight for the UK. So I doubt we'll see any current main roster guys compete unless they move to the UK full time. For the most part, this is a way of adding a new, international brand overseas, but it's not really tailored for American audiences as it is a response to things like ICW and WCPW, which have been exploding in the UK lately.

I want that to happen now. It would be enough to cause the dissolution of NATO.

We all know what Vince's ultimate goal for Reigns is....

For him to win every title in the WWE, including both Tag Team titles, by himself. And then for the next 1,000 years, he will battle an army of robot Roman Reigns clones. After that he will battle Vince for the next 5 million years in an inhabitable earth after both find some magic potion that will make both immortal.

Hulk Hogan is the latest victim of porch pirates. The suspects are seen on camera taking packages off his property. Wrong guy to steal from, brother!

Why not just bring back the European Championship and go with that?

That being said, that is a cool-looking belt (and distinctive to).

Because that would have been too logical. :oldrazz:

The European title comes with some baggage. Creating a new title isn't the worst idea, at least it doesn't reek of Sunday Night Heat and Jakked.

Who's watching Total Nonstop Deletion right now?

I did. It was a very bizarre episode, but I wonder if it's their testing waters for a second show based on this.

It was also awesome to see my favorite tag team of all time, the Rock & Roll Express, again. This is not the first time they appeared on TNA.

Cole did a good job on Commentary for NXT takeover Japan. When Vince isn't yelling in his ear he seems to be pretty good.

It is a British & Irish title. Irish wrestlers will compete as well.

The championship is open to wrestlers from England, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Everyone's favorite bruiserweight, biter and owner of a pineapple head, Pete Dunn will be competing in the UK championship competition.

Hero just had a great match with Dick Togo at Evolve 74
That's on my to watch list.

Is Elgin still injured? Sticking with NJPW for a while where he can be appreciated for his Hoss Style is the better idea anyway.

I understand where ROH is coming from with the depush because when he became champion he ****ed up royally by making it known he was going to leave and try out for baseball. I wouldn't invest money in pushing him on the chance he does something like that again.

the mere fact that What Culture runs a promotion is offensive to me
I don't like that they're trying to hurt the British indy scene which just worked hard to strive again after nothing for years. That's my biggest fear of WWE running a UK based show in that they'll take talent and lock them away into contracts where they won't be able to work on any shows with streaming services.

Just watched Total Nonstop Deletion.....

I thought it was extremely stupid and not in the fun way. I kind of equate it to this:

If you sit down and have a couple cupcakes they are really good, but if you have 30 cupcakes you will get sick of them.

The Broken Matt stuff works in pieces, 5-10 minute segments but when you essentially dedicate 2 hours to it...........the schtick wears thing IMHO.

Worth a watch for those who have kept up with the Broken Hardy's stuff but honestly....'Tista might be right, this may have jumped the shark.
