Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix Skepticism Thread

Sorry but you also said a while ago that there was a rumour Singer ghost directed FC, almost like you was trying to find a way to make singer look more responsible for its good reception

And now with apocalypse you are saying he and kinberg clearly clashed which resulted in a lesser movie when i can't remember reading anything like that and he clearly had good words to say about him recently so there is clearly no bad blood there.

Infact since singer is producing Dark Phoenix whose to say wasn't one of those reposibile for getting kinberg to direct just like he did when he got Vaughn onboard for FC?

i only responded to what i hear.there were reports or rumor singer ghost directed a few first class scenes.and you do remember i have called first class overrated.with the gifted pilot and other film singer is most likely a producer in name only with dark phoenix so this film is all kinberg.

So why were you telling people a few weeks ago that they had double standards because Kinberg's decisions with this movie would likely have been made by Singer? Flip-flopping on your stance

Because its true.

There are certain decisions that Singer would probably make for the sake of this same story also.

Based on?

Based on the unknown

Singer has said he doesn't like doing action for the sake of action but many directors don't share that same view, its just different visions.

Dude...you gotta stop this contrarian thing. It's just going around in circles at this point

Ok, so the way I've understood it is that Cyclops came into X-MA as the "Wolverine" of the group. Jean ends up with more to do and say in the movie's 2nd half.
Unfortunately, Quicksilver has definitely gotten enough focus and spectacle to end up hogging the limelight again so much so that he becomes the new punching bag. So, I doubt he won't have a pertinent or show stealing role.

Yes, I feel like this is exactly what happened and will happen.

Cyclops in X-Men Apocalypse had the same role Wolverine had in X-Men 1.

I can see Cyclops having the type of role Wolverine had in X-Men 3

good take on cyclops in apocalypse.it was said cyclops and jean in apocalypse were intended in apocalypse to be like wolverine and rogue in first x-men.

cyclops with a last stand wolverine type role would go over better.

I thought the point of this thread was to take the negativity out of the main news thread. Certain users coming into this thread clearly like getting a rise out of people.

they are on social media.i certinly didn't make them up.the rumors would explain some things if true.

The exact source? Or is it just "social media"? Was it actual reporting or someone with history of insider info? Never heard any of this stuff before.

I agree. Close this thread. The last thing this site needs is more echochambers. The positives and the negatives should be in engagement in the same spaces.

Keep this open.

Having a containment thread was actually a very good idea.

I agree it keeps from derailing the topic of the main thread, so it should stay open so some can let it out.

That would work if people didn't start complaining about the people complaining. This is a divisive project that I don't see non-X-men fans on the internet being excited about tbh. But perhaps I'm wrong.

"This movie won't be popular."

Tough. *shrugs*

There are enough other movies for the "I love comics (movies), I'm such a geek" fad to continue even if X-Men never mimics the thing some people want it to mimic.

Contrary to memer belief, a studio is not going to avoid making a movie just because of the "movies only profit if they make over a billion in revenue" meme.

eh. Don't see how that can be gauged at this stage. We only recently started getting legit info on this.

Well this thread is going to be busy for the next 17 months. Skepticism thread? This is a skepticism board regarding X-Men movies! :oldrazz:

Yeah, I have my doubts, but heres hoping to the best on this one.

Hopefully this rejuvenates the main X series. But I don't it. It needs a complete overhaul with a new vision.

Yea I think we do. Singer and Kinberg's visions are outdated by at least 10 years.

Problem is outside of Charles, Erik, Logan and now Deadpool (possibly Quicksilver).. no one outside of X-Men fans gives a **** about the X-Men as individuals. And that is down to the poor treatment by Singer and co.

The franchise needs a new voice and vision. Someone who will make Cyclops, Jean, Colossus, Beast, Nightcrawler and co cool and interesting. We've had 6 X-Men films now and the only characters worth a damn are Charles, Erik, Logan and Mystique. And Jackman is finished and Lawrence is clearly sleepwalking for a paycheck.

Yeah that's why they make movies like Fantastic Four (2015) that end up losing money for them, but I'm sure it satisfied your "it's not for a comic book geek" movie thirst.

Honestly I am not expecting much from this from a story perspective, Kinberg being basically the director and head writer on this makes it a bit one sided. I just hope the movie is visually pleasing though. If the movie has good visual effects and decent action sequences I will be content.

Sorry, but the "$1B or it failed" meme is just a meme.

Anyway, the problem Fox is going to keep having (if only making hundreds of millions in revenue on X-Men instead of reaching the meme number is a problem) is that the movies haven't been reaching for the fun-for-the-whole-family vibe. That's the difference.

Most of the folks who go see the superhero comedies don't read comics. Not reaching a billion has nothing to do with comic book geeks (but the opposite, actually).
