Days of Future Past X-men First Class Sequels?

What should come next?

  • Nothing, it should lead into X1

  • Continue with McAvoy finding Jean, Scott etc

  • Continue but with the cast of characters they have now

  • It shouldn't continue at all, I won't like it >:(

Too early in terms of story. There's plenty of Earth based stories and characters to go through before resorting to have to go to outer space.

I don't think it will ever happen, because Bryan Singer is still the producer and he always like to get away from stuff that are more fantasy-like. Singer prefers to keep his movies grounded and I don't think introducing the Shia'ar fits his style. I'm sure Vaughn shares the same vision as Singer.

That is why you reboot and change the creative team. Singer has had a good run but I would like to see a fresh interpretation that embraces more of the scifi elements of the Xverse.

Yeah, the problem with embracing the sci fi things is sometimes it goes too far and then that becomes all there is to a movie. Do we really want to see the X-men fight birdmen or would we rather see something with a lot of heart like the 'Gifted' arc of Astonishing X-men, Morrison's 'New X-men' or all the Ratnerless X-films so far.

There Is a rule some forget. If it ainet broke don't try to fix it.X-Men doesn't need a reboot.

With the cooncept of mutants powers you already are sci fi.You don't need alien or time travel.

I think Vaughn could make the space elements work, especially if he can find a good enough screenplay writer...

Vaughn, and Jane Goldman will probally rewrite the script so It would come down to what they and Bryan Singer want to do.

The ending of the planned Singer version of X3 when he signed up to do SUperman Returns when Fox was playing around with signing him had Phoenix becoming god like creature and leaving earth.

Why are we still posting in the X-men First Class forums instead of the X-men Sequels and Spin Offs forum?

Because this thread was made before a sequel was announced and just hasn't been merged yet

Right now it isn't but just incase, Wolverine and Second Class bombed. They would consider doing it.

I wonder if some mutant involvement in the Vietnam war could be potential in the historical era side of an X-men: First Class series in the sequels. What better place for Magneto to hide than a war zone.

Stryker in X2 mentioned being in Vietnam. If he becomes aware of mutant powers after seeing a display of power while there would be a cool callback.

I personally would like to see The Phoenix consume a star and destroy a galaxy AND I would also like to see the Xmen take on the Shi-Ar Imperial Guard. Could be just me but I'm kind of tired of the realism of the current crop of hero adaptations. Probably one of the main reason I am excited about the Avengers.

If they want to salvage anything from this mess, the sequel really will be the first true X-Men movie.

Magneto has gone off with the beginnings of his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and will likely start causing trouble, making ultimatums, that sort of thing.
Xavier feeling responsible for 'his old friend' will enlist Hank McCoy to rebuild Cerebro in the mansion and use it to seek out his first real students, Jean Grey and Scott Summers (though they'll screw it up somehow by bringing in Storm first or some such).

The bulk of the movie will be Hank building the danger room (yay! new CGI opportunities!) and Xavier teaching his new students how to fight as a team with cutscenes of Magneto and company hatching a plot to rule the world and enslave the mutant hating humans. This will feature lots of Mystique breaking into secure government facilities. It will culminate in a battle between the two teams where Scott shows some leadership skills. For romance, we'll have a kind of shallow, unexplained romance pop up between Scott and Jean maybe with some jealousy from Xavier who can't compete because he can't walk so he can no longer be the playboy he once was or some such.

I'd rather we didn't see Scott or Jean for at least another two films. What's with this impatient rush to get to the point where X1 kicked off? Can't we have a long period of exploring a previously unseen history? Once Scott comes in, we know he will show leadership and fall in love with Jean - it's sooooo predictable. Boring!

Vaughn has already said they will only add one more character in the sequel.

In fairness, he said that ages ago and we weren't even sure he'd come back to direct for ages.

Things may have changed since he said that.

I'd rather we lose Angel (Zoe kravitz) and Riptide and add a few new characters. The X-Men need a female member, for a start.

I'd be very surprised if the entire cast returns with just one new addition.

I really hope Rose Byrne returns as Moira in the sequel too. I thought she was a great character and a great "human among the mutants" type of character. I also though she and Xavier had great chemistry and I was sad at the end when he had to erase her memory. :(

Indeed. The mind-wipe would appear to indicate she won't be back and won't become Xavier's colleague in researching mutants (and setting up Muir Island). That was the disadvantage of that scene. It doesn't mean she definitely won't be back, but it would seem odd if they now became friends again.

As for new characters in the next film, my latest revised thoughts/hopes would be:

X-Men

Beast
Banshee
Havok
Xavier
Dazzler
Thunderbird or Cannonball

Brotherhood

Magneto
Emma Frost
Juggernaut
Polaris (who defects to X-Men and begins romance with Havok)
Azazel
Mystique

Just curious on why Thunderbird? Ive seen him mentioned a few times.

Never thought Id say this but not including Dazzler would surprise me, she seems a perfect fit for First Class.
