Sequels X-Men: First Class

I don't buy "That last tweet wasn't me". I think FOX told him to shut the hell up.

I agree. Before this he only had around 70 followers and I doubt he'd have thought movie sites and blogs would pick up on it.

And while I don't think he has officially signed on, I do think Fox/Shuler Donner will have told him to keep his schedule free. I mean, they told Alan Cumming to keep his schedule free for X3 and they didn't even need him in the end. They do a lot of planning ahead.

Fox probably want make sure they have a director and everything is sorted before they start making anything official. Things don't always work out.

Why would Fox be all secretive about this? They need a director now to start prep and we haven't heard anything. Maybe they have a preliminary cast down but not even have a director announced up until now? Obviously it's going to be rushed either way but we would have heard something.

I just hope the new series has the real-worlddedness of X1 & X2, plus the action of X3... and doesn't focus on one particular mutant

They're still working on the script, and I'm sure it will go through re-writes. They probably don't want to bring on a director just yet. But then again, having a director signed early would help the development process...who knows...:awesome: (sorry, that smiley cracks me up).

I noticed out of most if not all of the character suggestions no one mentioned Quicksilver. Wasn't that supposed to be him in that little cameo in XO:Wolverine? The one with the near white hair strapped in that bungy material trying to run.

My first Class line up would be:

Scott
Emma
Jean
Forge
Storm
Beast (older by a few years than the rest and more of a student teacher)
Gambit ( a small part wher ehe opts to leave as he is a solo act)

Teachers:
Charles
Erik
McCoy

The Villain:
Mr Sinister and hint at Hellfire Club for FC2

^That's how I'd do it anyway

I want First Class to obviously revolve around the first set of students at Xavier's. Obviously Beast, Storm, Jean, Scott and Emma should be there. As for a villain... Magneto. I want to see Xavier and Erik split; have their falling out. I'd like Pietro and Wanda to be involved, too.

If Sinister is in it then Gambit should be as well. They can get Creed in there and maybe cover the mutant massacre. But I don't think the run time will allow that story. I just say focus on the characters that we have already been introduced to for the most part.

I think Magneto will start out helping Prof. X with the school. Their break up will not be till the third film in this series.

I thought Magneto was supposed to come next... but then Origins 2 and Deadpool was announced and now First Class is moving forward too...

i just hope no lasers-and-blades-on-deadpool changes happen again...

We have heard nothing to suggest X-Men: First Class will be rushed.

The film hasn't even been announced to be in pre-production, we don't have a director, and filming starts apparently early next year? How is that not qualified as anything but a rush?

Yeah I don't think they are going three films/reboot with this thing. Unless this makes 300 million no chance of that.

They should leave X-men Origins, X-men and X2 like that...
then make a new trilogy starting with X-men First Class

maybe go on to Magneto, then something with Brotherhoodd for the third movie.
That will be a non-Wolverine trilogy =)

My thoughts on this project are that the Disney/Marvel deal will make all the other companies that still have dibs on Marvel properties up their game. I believe it will. I'm still one of the ones who's optimistic about the Disney thing and think it's a good thing.

"Why does anyone care about this......it's Fox"

What he said.

It will take a good creative team, and for FOX to back the hell off, and let the creative team they hired do their thing without studio interference for me to show interest in another Fox superhero film.

Since too many mutants has ended up with many characters being shortchanged, they need to focus on fewer characters.

Cyclops,Storm, Beast and Jean Grey. Thats it for the team, though Id like to see Havok in there somewhere.

I would enjoy seeing Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch involved. Blob has already been established and can be used as well. Those 3 alone should be enough to give the original four member team trouble.

I know this is asking for too much, but Id also like to see these new films not treated strictly as action pieces. Action is fine, but Id like to see the paranoia, social commentary, characterization, etc. Really delve into the subject of what it like to be a mutant and how Xaviers students deal with thei abilities.

The first film takes place in the not to distant future, so it will also be interesting to see what decade/time period they base the prequels films in.

For the team I'd use:

cyclops
emma
jean grey
beast
quicksilver
scarlet witch
storm
toad

Shuler Donner took this as an opportunity to address ‘Pocockgate’. The actor Tim Pocock, who played the young Cyclops in Wolverine, posted a tweet last week that announced:

currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010…then X-men first class ;)

Since then, he’s requested that everybody run a retraction:

victim of cruel prank.last tweet=NOT me.AM filming Aussie show till2010.no official word on XM:FC but am interested.please post retraction.

According to Shuler Donner, there’s no truth to the initial claim at all. She announced that the film has no scheduled start date and will definitely not be kicking off in February. What’s more, she confirmed that no actors have signed contracts to appear in the film.

I asked if they had signed the young mutants up for an option on future films, and she admitted that yes, everybody was under option. No surprises there.

So does anybody else think this movie won't actually happen?

This whole movie making process is becoming tiresome. With Spider-Man they set release dates, hire script writers and get the director on-board. But with X-Men they just seem to be hiring someone to write a script and see what happens from there.

Magneto's script has been ready for nearly 2 years, and Josh Schwartz has been working on X-Men: First Class for around 10 months. I know we know next to nothing about what goes on behind the scenes so for all we know things could be gearing up, but everything just seems stale at the moment.

I also don't like how Lauren Shuler Donner keeps hinting at future movies (X4, New Mutants). While it's not a bad thing looking to the future, they should just focus on one movie and make it great.

Maybe they are just convinced a film can not work without Wolverine. Next film will probably be a Japan movie. If it does well then they probably won't do anything different until after Wolverine 3. If the sequel flops the MAYBE they'd try a First Class movie. They'll probably replace the actors by then IMO. We know what happened with Kitty Pryde's character afterall. I would prefer to see the same cast from Origins, but I just don't know if those kids can act.
