Sequels X-Men: First Class

Two things:

Unless it's flashbacks only, a 20-something Xavier is in no way compatible with XO Wolverine. And with Deadpool potentially not being compatible with Wolverine either Fox are seriously going to damage the integrity of the franchise.

2. Who the feck is this Jason folk keep mentioning? If he's only a recently prominent character then he won't be in the film.

This is the best news ever. Even if it’s a prequel, I’m okay with it. If the X-men were in their thirties in the first movie, then they surely would’ve faced a lot of villains before and not just Magneto and Stryker. But the greatest part is no Wolverine! And I’m just tingling with Singer’s quote about ‘there will be a great villain.’ Sinister perhaps?

Stryker's son.

I'm excited for Singer's come back to mutants! :yay:

Pratically they combined the First Class with the Magneto movie. Good.

I only (ans seriously) hope that they don't forget the continuity.

From X-Men Origins: Wolverine we learn that:
- Cyclops, Emma and (maybe) Banshee joins First Class with Xavier;
- Gambit is not an X-Men;
- Jason/Mastermind is a young kid on ice.

From X-Men trilogy we learn that:
- The First Class is Cyclops as leader, Jean Grey, Storm and Beast (in the third one he says that he was part of the first team);
- Emma - maybe - is run away from the Xavier's school;
- Banshee is not here;
- Wolverine, Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Kitty...They can't appears because they join the team years after First Class;
- The Brotherhood is composed by Magneto, Mystique, Toad and Sabretooth.

So, Fox and Singer MUST film a movie with a continuity. It will be interesting see how Victor Creed became Sabretooth.

P.s. I think Sinister is the villain.

Hope Banshee is in First Class also considering Tom Hardy played Patrick Stewarts clone in Star Trek he would make a good young Xavier I suppose and his a great up and coming actor.

Love to see Sinister as the villain. Mark Strong would be awesome as Essex.

Now thats two suggestions id love to see....:woot:

Singer is back to the X-franchise? Oh thank God!! Now we can get back on track.

Now with Singer on board, I wonder if Patrick and Ian are coming back digitally younger? Might look weird for a whole movie, but would Singer want to recast those roles?

It's nice hearing that there will be a new villain. Hopefully we'll get Sinister or something on that level.

I am loving what I am hearing! The end of Magneto and Xavier is a crucial point to build a story around in the X-Men lore!

They could even have the Sentinels and that's why they had a training program of them in X-3.

The whole trust in the team aspect of the early X-men would be something great to see for the audience.

i am 100% sure they will recast the roles for the younger Prof. X and Magneto, seems like a lot of work to do throughout the whole movie, but i'd imagine Patrick Stewart will at least make an appearance.
I could not be happier that Singer is back to do this movie. I wanted to see Sinister in X4 and have him holding Scott captive, but if he is the villain in first class ill still be happy

The article mentioned Xavier and Magneto would be "twentysomethings". I really doubt Stewart and McKellen can pull that off, the world's best de-aging digital effects aside.

20's would mean 1960ish... what the heck will they do with that time frame? Certainly can't have any prominent X-Men. And if they are that age for a good portion of the film, it just shortens the time you have to develop everyone else.

Here Is what I Suspect they will do.have the film In 2 time peroids.

1:See the meeting of Xavier and magneto In their 20's.Show them become
friends and start their work together.

2:Jump to around the time of the end of wolverine.Xavier brings Cyclops
and the others he found to the school to join other students already there(
jean,Storm,Beast) and during this time we will see the following out between
Xavier and Magneto,how Xavier was crippled,and the first X-Men team against
a Villian.

As for as casting goes it Is possible to have younger actors as Xavier and
magneto for the first part of the film and then use Patrick Stewart and Ian
Mckellan for the second part howerer It think It Is more likely to hire actors
who with makeup can do both being In their 20's and being older.So Inless
they bring back the actor who played the young Cyclops In wolverine it Is quite possible this will have a totaly new cast.

I don't know why they'd be banking on multiple X-Men prequels... two or three films could work, but if the first one flops its all a waste. If they start with young Xavier/Lenshers, then it shouldn't be more than 15-20 minutes before we start getting introduced to the mutants.

And I don't see how there is anyway the actors will return considering this movie is still another 2 1/2 to 4 years away. They will probably recast the actors from Origins as well, since they will be too old by then.

Very good question. Maybe Omega Red since it is the Cold War...Not saying that's what I want but just throwing it out there.

Also with Chris Mcquarrie writing the second Wolverine is it possible that Singer might direct that afterwards?Maybe even be a producer on future X-Universe films. His presence is prefereed. It doesn't seem like they know what to do without him.

Well if this is going to dwell into the younger years of Xavier, I wish the movie would have Xavier's psychic battle in Egypt. I really liked that "scene". I don't remember anymore in what issue it was. Some old TUXM from 70s/80s.

I'm sure they recast Xavier and Magneto for the first half of the movie, the origins of their friendship. When Xavier built the school and save the young mutants from the captivity we'll see Stewart and McKellen de-aged.

I'm only hope they follow the continuity. So, Cyclops, Emma and Banshee (with other few mutants) are the first young mutants to join the school.

They must introduce Cyclops, Jean, Beast and Storm. Maybe Emma joins the team but she's leave to join Hellfire club?

What are some other really good stories they can explore Pre-School For Gifted Children?

I assumed that the reason Eric left was because Charles kept Jean's power in check...Eric thought Jean would be the ultimate weapon to use against humanity "if" the war should happen + Eric's anger from his past/the treatment of mutants made him leave....this split 'tween them should end the 1st act of the film...and the 2nd act should take place a yr. later with a new recruit being Storm/Banshee and Xavier still searching for Eric

All I want to see is Iceman freeze somebody and now I can't even have that. This world is cruel. Curse you Fox!!

as far as a villain is concerned i have no idea who they plan to use. Mr. Sinister or Apocalypse would be awesome, altho i think apocalypse is too strong of a villain for them to battle this early on when toad was a problem for the main three of them in the first x-men.
the mutants seem to be cyclops being the 'leader' with jean, storm and beast in there as well. i'm glad they didnt use storms cameo in wolverine cuz she seems to be too young and the guy that played cyclops is at least 15 from what i could guess and storms cameo was i think 10. based off of what was said in x3 beasts hair would probably be shaggier and from what was eluded at in the wolverine movie emma frost and possibly banshee will be there. i would love to see gambit be an early x-man since he just disappears at the end of wolverine. maybe he ran back to find xavier?

i have faith in singer to keep the continuity with his other films. iceman, colossus, all those others wouldn't have a part in it yet. if the film ends with magneto and xavier going their seperate ways, itd be neat if magneto happened to come across a wondering sabretooth...if nothing else then to be something to see after the credits leading into the first x-men. for all we kno tho, they might make a mini-franchise out of the younger x-men between all the years between first class and x-men 1.

based off of what they did with the end of wolverine and the beginning of the last stand, i'm sure they could have magneto and xavier look the appropriate age for the whole film .i think itd be very very strange to not see those actors portraying their respective roles after they went through the trouble of not recasting them for those 2 significant flashback sequences. i just wonder who they recruited to the school first, jean or cyclops and the gang?

i still think there is faith and hope for a 4th x-men film after the last stand. this will be redemption for all the characters who died in the last stand, but for everybody who made it out alive with their powers after x3 i still feel there is a lot of potential to be pulled from those characters. itd even be nice if, lets say, apocalypse was a villain in an x4 and they use the remaining students and introduce jubilee and bring back nightcrawler and have angel as a horseman, they could even redeem magneto who still might have powers and he could do one brave last thing with the remainder of his powers to save the x-men so it would come full circle

altho if they never make a sequel to that film i guess the 3rd film has enough closure

When do you think X:FC will hit theaters? Summer 2011?

He is doing too many movies at the moment, you are looking at May/June 2012 earliest. If he's directing multiple stuff between now and FC it may even be 2013.

I don't want X-4 with Singer or Fox. How can Singer even make it work without having one hand tied to his back based on what has become of it? More prequels the better because it only means improving the existing universe as opposed to expanding and possibly ruining it in endless directions, which would be the case for a sequel trilogy.
