X-Men - Part 2

Yeah, Carey was good. If he liked better characters, I'd probably still be reading Legacy.

Carey is highly talented but that was my problem too, I didn't like the characters he liked to use. Is he staying with Marvel to do other work or is he moving on? I'd like to see him get another book.

As for the new writer, my number 1 pick would be Brian K. Vaughan. Ive wanted him to do a 616 Xbook ever since his Ultimate Xmen run. If not him than Yost and Kyle

Screw those two and the horse they rode in on.

I've loved Carey's X-men Legacy since it's focus on was professor X and I've liked what he's done with Rouge.I'm sad to see him go.About Vaughn that would be great but he's doing a book for Image and I don't think with his television responsibilities he would have time for more books.I hope whoever they get can keep up with the quality Carey has had.But 5 years on one book is a rarity these days but I'm glad Carey was on as long as he was.

I quit reading when the focus switched from Professor X to Rogue, but the Professor X stuff was good. Chuck was a badass.

That issue where Charlie singlehandedly took out the Acolytes was delicious.

I loved how other characters were outraged at how he was playing fast and loose with his powers after years of very tight restraint. It's about time someone reminded readers that Chuck can easily f*** you up if he wants to.

That was the great part about the issues of Legacy that focused on him. This was Charles regaining his memories, but without the emotional attachments to them that caused him to be so reserved in the first place. It turned him into a man who doesn't hold back, but wanted to make up for his past mistakes. It was perfect.

And then Carey switched over to Anna, and no other writer wanted to use Charles. So he became wasted space. He isn't even in the promotional posters for Regenesis.

I wondered what happened to him. Figured maybe he got killed off again or something. No one seems to know what to do with Chuck anymore. Maybe because he's the father figure of the X-Men but the X-Men are all grown up now. Cyclops sure as hell isn't about to fall back in line behind Chuck (no matter how much he probably should, given how terrible his time as head of all things X-related has turned out).

Xavier should take that father figure role back in New X-Men . Or Young X-Men. Or whatever X-book there is that focuses on teenagers now. Generation Hope?

that role looks to be fufilled by Sebastion Shaw:wow:

Looks like Sebastian Shaw is taking the fatherly role to Generation Hope for some reason. Xavier would make a better choice.

Its funny people compare Cyclops to Magneto now when he has actually become more like his son Cable who took the young X-Men New Mutants and turned them into a proactive military strike force of of soldiers in X-Force much like Cyclops has turned the X-kids in to soldiers and made the X-Men under his watch proactive.

Like father like son.

Last I heard about him, he'll be showing up in the first issue of Wolverine and the X-Men. Logan invites him out to show him the new Jean Grey school.

Wow, what a f***ed up situation the X-Men are heading into, where Wolverine is staying true to their original ideals while Cyclops is off being super-hardcore military badass.

With Wolverine , it's probably cuz he decided to take a hard look at his actions after killing several of his children. Cyclops being a "super-hardcore military badass" seems like a natural progression from all the s*** that's happened to him over the years. Like when Apocalypse possessed him for a year , his son dying , finding out he had a third brother , etc.

I just hope this gets the franchise on the road to being all back into the mansion following Chuck's orders like the old days. Half of them are there, so it's a nice start.

Seeing as how the writers and editors change the status quo of the entire X-franchise every year, I don't imagine going back to basics would last very long.

Yeah, something will be along within a year to at least heavily damage the new school in some way.

The utter chaos that happened after Decimation felt like there were no editors.

What we have now is a group of very organized editors with ADD. They shake things up, wait 3 months, and start promoting the new event that will shake things up again. They can't let the X-Men get dull and boring by letting the comics do something stupid like establish themselves.
