Sequels X-Men Reboot

Should the X-Men film franchise be rebooted?

  • Yes, reboot it! Doesn't matter who or how.

  • Yes, but only if Marvel has the rights.

  • No, Fox is doing just fine. Let them keep popping out sequels.

  • I don't care. X-Men are X-Men.

^ You think X-men is a Valentine's Day release?

If anything the next X-men film will latch itself to a big US holiday release date, maybe June 29th to coincide with 4th of July. Unless X-men isn't on any of those dates announced so far.

X-Men would probably do very well in the Deadpool, Kingsman and Daredevil February release. That summer slot doesn't guarantee them anything and Apocalypse was more then enough proof of that. Right now it can't even bring in 160m domesctally, and if it can't do that I don't think the over crowded Summer will do it any favors. Unless it's an event crossover of sorts featuring all Fox related Marvel films.

If X-Men was to be released in 2019 then that summer has what Avengers, Justice League,Toy Story, Transformers, Indiana Jones and Star Wars already? Time to move away from Summer, until the franchise gets some more steam and is guaranteed not to drop anymore.

Well I said that with the assumption there will be another film released that year since if you are gonna just have just one fox comic book movie that year... why put it so early in February?

Although yeah saying that Logan is out March and there is nothing else out in 2017 but i am still gonna take a guess and say the next X-Men will be in 2019.

Next X-Men movie will be summer 2019 or 2020 IMO. After Logan I think things will line up like this:

March 2018: Deadpool 2
June 2018: New Mutants
November 2018: Gambit
February 2019: Deadpool 3/X-Force (think it will ultimately just be called X-Force)

On that note, I'm more inclined to go with a Oct/November release tbh, go in the direction of other more recent sci-fi movies like Arrival, Interstellar and Gravity.

It would be more fitting if they finally went with a space-bound Dark Phoenix Saga.

X-men: Apocalypse might not have been able to scare off Disney from releasing Alice 2 the same day (which ultimately bit the Mouse in the arse) but maybe an ensemble X-men movie would have more pull on a Fall release vs. other star vehicles.

Who knows, maybe they're eyeing that November 2018 release. #toosoon

According to me, better is to reboot completely.

If we keep on this new timeline, we 'll never see Wolverine again, Cyclops, Sotrm, Jean adult version

If we reboot the saga since beginning, we can have new Dark Pheonix, Stryker, Trask, Hellfire club, brotherhood, Apocalypse, new villains as Sinister, Bastion, all x-men together (Cyke Wolverine Jean Emma Storm Iceman Beast Angel Psylocke Gambit Kurt Colossus Rogue Kitty like Second Coming comics arc) and relocate Deadpool/X-force and new mutant in this rebooted universe

A recast Wolverine probably wouldn't work in a new timeline/universe either. That's why we're getting X-23 instead. And the big three are all adults if we'd get that 90s X-Men movie. They'd be around 27.

So basically everything we already had again?

We can have all of this in the current universe as well.

But Fox dont want to make it. They only focus on x-men team in the past, not in present day,

Jackman Cumming and Cudmore wont back.

We'll never have Psylocke and Gambit in x-team.

If they reboot Dark Pheonix in a new universe, not in this retconned timeline, they can make Jean dying and Emma Frost substitutes her. In actual universe, Emma is 30 years older that Scott

And we would have the full team. When we read comics, we'd like to see that in live action https://comicnewbies.com/2013/09/17/icemans-daily-schedule-at-utopia/

Forget about X-23, her characters sets in future, a dystopian world without mutants. What's interesting

If fox uses X-23 after Logan it will robally be In Deadpool III:X-force

wolverine is going to be recast eventully.it may not be In X-men;Dark Phoenix
but it will happen

Fox will want Deadpool and X-Force to be their own IP's.

I agree completely

What's Alfonso Cuaron doing nowadays? Fox should just snatch him up for a space X-Men film based on Gravity and, to an extent, Prisoner of Azkaban.

There are so many untitled movies with a release date, it feels like a mess. It is like they are not sure if they can keep the date and not delay. So screw these dates for now, 2018 and 2019 still feels like a long time. Announce it with the name of the film next time.

Apocalypse is pretty much a prequel to the new future that we saw in Dofp. Prequel or not, they are stuck in the past and I doubt the GA would want to see these X-Men to be stuck in the past for every new film.

But like I said, these films aren't going to stay in the past forever. The next X-men trilogy is moving forward to the new future ending of Days of Future Past with film 1 in the 90's, film 2 in the 2000's, and film 3 in the 2010's. Plus, If New mutants becomes a trilogy, then it'll fill the gaps between the 3 X-men films while the Deadpool films does it's own thing with introducing the X-Force.

Where did you get that information? No one from fox said t hey would another film set in the 2000s and 2010s for the X-Men" main team.

New cast can't play x-men in 2010's. They are too young.

Look at McAvoy in Apocalypse, he plays Xavier at 50 but he looks too young

Isn't that precedent for why they could play the 2010 X-Men?. The film makers don't care that they don't look the correct age.

Well see the thing is that judging by what the deadpool writers said they don't intend on using X-Men all that much if even at all which was always the thing that people seemed to insist the X-Men needed to be in the present for, so they could MCU it with cross overs... Well i don't think anyone involved has that same view point of things anyway.

And honestly i don't think it matters how many movies they set in the past since i could see them making films set past 2023 also which obviously is not the "present" and even if you say we are getting closer to 2023 well chances are the further we get the further in the future they likely get, especially since i imagine if X23 joins X-FORCE they will age her at least 5 or 6 years before doing so as she is likely 11 years old in Logan.

It really does not matter in the long run, just enjoy the ride and wait and see where each movie takes us.

Yes, thats why Havok (between 35-38 years old) and Xavier (around 50) are not credible in Apocalypse :yuk:

after seeing the spider-man homecoming trailer.if there is full on reboot after Deadpool:X-force I hope fox does it itself.

And they did and are doing great things with their chance, such as Bryan Singer's X-Men, X2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, and Tim Miller's Deadpool. James Mangold's Logan looks very promising, and Singer's Apocalypse wasn't that bad, either.

I have a been a spidey fan since i was a kid but i can't say i was that impressed with the spider-man home coming trailer, i like what they are doing with spider-man, he is a pratical joker and all that like andrew garfields version but these random other friends characters who i have no idea who they are and the humour around it felt very cheesy.

me being longtime spidey fan is why i am so disappointed.yeah i didn't like
Spider-man in civil war.I had hoped trailer would make me change my mind.
it didn't.yeah there should be a lot of humor with spidey but it should come with him In costume not when he's just peter parker.Peter's life looks too upbeat.they are putting too much stark in film.Spidey should be more a loner.
and they are just slapping names of classic characters it seems on randomly
cast teen characters.Michael Keaton as the vulture is best thing i saw.

Spider-man:Homecoming is showing why I don't want X-Men In MCU.A reboot of X-Men may be coming after deadpool:X-force.it will depend how new mutants, next X_Men film, and X-force In Deadpool 3 goes.and if Reynolds wants to keep doing deadpool after Deadpool 3

A reboot would be more possible now if only Deadpool wasn't a big success. It would be more complicated to go on a full reboot now when Foxcould just use the Deadpol and X-Force cross over card to X-Men in order to get the people's interest.

But I am a X-Men fan first and I don't really care about Deadpool and splinter teams like X-Force and New Mutants. So screw it, reboot X-Men if that means, we would see Rogue, Iceman, Angel, Psylocke, Emma, Gambit, Havok, Banshee, Bishop as X-Men and in an universe where Mystique isn't Xavier adopted sister.

Deadpool used a completely different Colossus from the comics. How that does stop them from rebooting the franchise.

Like I've said. Personally I would use New Mutants as a reboot of the franchise, with a new actor as Professor X.

And have a new X-Men movie featuring said actor as Professor X afterwards. They could use Tim Miller's take on Colossus, as well. Stefan Kapcic could easily play Piotr in human form.
