X3: Are we in trouble?

I'm not worried at all. I'm a huge Spidey fan, although I didn't go opening day for 2, folks kept teling me it suck. It almost swayed me and I have to say I was a bit worried and tainted by all that neg. spewing from friends and co-workers. But I was quite happy with the results.

I don't listen to critics, I've seen many movies that critics hated and it was the best movie I've ever seen, its the persons personal taste not what someone else thinks.

Exactly!

On another note, I'm not worried for this movie at all.

This movie will be crushed by a true behemoth this year called superman returns. Mark my words. Go get a marker if you need it.

Even if Superman Returns is the far superior movie, does it really matter. Will you enjoy X-Men: The Last Stand less if SR is better? I sure won't.

Ebert and Roeper gave X3 two thumbs up on their show saturday.

I think it may be a decent summer action movie, but I have a feeling that the diologue is going to take a dip and if you are a fan of Cyke and Rogue (two of my favorites) you will feel betrayed.

Oh well.

Eh, that's one review. So far, most of the early reviews I've seen for X3 are rather positive.
X2 got excellent reviews.

People always like to trash the critics, say they don't listen to them and whatnot, but when all is said and done, the total reviews of film are pretty consistant with their actual quality. Or, at least, how well they're accepted among us regular people. Spider-Man 1&2, Batman Begins, X1 & 2 - great reviews; Hulk - mixed; Fantastic Four - crappy; etc. Critics aren't nearly as bull-headed as most make them out to be, I think, once you start paying attention to more than a single review.

Critics as a whole (not individually) have a valid voice. People do care what they write and only claim that the words of critics are meaningless when the general consensus differs from their biased fanboy view.

Exactly. And eventually, most of said people will just jump on the bandwagon, anyway.

Yup. Notice how the X3 boards started kissing AICN's ass since moriarty gave the flick a positive review.

OK, NOW IM SCARED Ebert & Ropert gave it 2 thumbs up. Bad sign.

Thats good.
Ebert & Roeper gave X2 two thumbs up, and it turned out being great.
If they did it for X3, I am sure it will be great.

Brett Ratner won't let me down.

The series has been in trouble since 2000; when Fox hired a dramatic director who turned a great idea into a run of the mill Sci Fi story. Hopefully Ratner can inject some life into a dull movie series.

Roger Ebert frequently knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, I like about 75-80% of Ebert's critiques.

90% of the time what they say is a complete 180 from what i think. but im going to the advanced screening w/ LOW expectations so i will really like it!

I normally listen to critics, after all they are in a profession and we have to at least listen to their opinion whether we like it or not.

But WarHammer is right, we are our own critics and we'll have our own opinions after we see the movie however, most critics were right when they bashed the god awful FF4, maybe they are right again. I certainly hope not because so far X3 is getting ****ted on.

IMHO, X3 is a whole lot better than X2 or X1, if they don't compact the movie length too much and put out radical departures from the comics.

Keyword? X3 is action packed, unlike X2 or X1. Yup, a movie this short can put out more action comic goodness than the previous ones can.

Just saw the movie. It's a good movie but not as good as X-2 as a whole. I certainly like the theme of this one more and visually it's the best as the special effects are breathtaking. And the action scenes are fantastic almost like you're reading a comic book. But story wise I felt some things were rushed and it feels empty at times. It IS a good movie and especially great fun but something's missing. But still a worthy entry in the series and I hope they do a 4th one even though the whole movie smelled like goodbye.

To answer the Question what is X3 like?
Its bad. so so very bad.
I have been collecting the comics since i was 4 i am now 25. i have NEVER seen a worse mismatch of storylines in all this time.
The acting from Stewart, Mckellan and Jackman was good but the storyline and everything felt rushed and too short.
They made critical things seem rudimentry and they have KILLED certain characters off.

The end of it made certain you know they can keep it open for a X4 (like we didn't see that coming) but if Brett makes the 4th one he deserves to burn in the hell which is/was reserved for Joel Schumacher.

I left the cinema feeling slightly abused and violated.

There was no explaination no depth all explosions and they left the X-men storylines which have been around for ages and created a BRAND NEW storyline of their own. i can't ruin it for others by teling spoilers but this movie hurt.:( :( :(

In short, you hated the movie because they created their own storyline?
