Man, sucks that JR is retired, but man did he ever leave behind a legacy. Thank you JR for calling some of the greatest and most important matches in the history of the WWE! And how ironic that the last match he called was Undertaker vs HHH in the Hell In A Cell from last year's WrestleMania and it was dubbed "The End Of An Era". And I'm happy to say I was there live to see him call his last match. :D

Damn.Sad JR's done. Was always holding out hope he would come back to do commentary.

Looks like he was forced to retire. In other words, he was nicely fired. Damn shame. :(

it's kind of odd how Show's on Bryan's side right now.

didn't Bryan win the World title by betraying Show and cashing in his briefcase on an already weakened Show??

Once JR was removed from commentary it was only a matter of time before he left WWE.

And Bryan did remind Show about his cash in when Show was all "I don't want to do this" as it related to their match several weeks ago.

Ross's PBP was tremendous, but it was sick and tiring of how much he would kiss McMahon's ass.

His career kind of went out on a whimper and that's sad. Even after all the **** Vince pulled with him over the years, he still stayed loyal and even at WM28, he was absolutely full capable of calling that match even on his own. He's fully capable of doing it now and yet, we're stuck with JBL/Cole/Lawler. I don't think I've felt sorry for someone more in WWE than Jim Ross and that's saying something.

It's truly the end of an era in pro wrestling with the retirement of Jim Ross, who has announced matches in Mid-South/ UWF, NWA/ WCW, and WWE. He truly deserves and will be missed in the business.

so many memories JR has brought us over his career
he would always hype the hell out of any match, even if it was an opening match jr would make it feel like the main event

truly a sad day for wrestling fans and its the end of an era :csad:

This was inevitable. I'm actually glad JR's gone. Now there's no need to hope he comes back and takes over on RAW or SD. Every time he didn't, it hurt. It's not going to hurt anymore.

I don't mind JBL/Cole, it's Lawler who gets on my nerves. Although he's toned his idiocy down much in the last few months, for me. Less of a pain in the ass, the announce team on RAW has been more tolerable overall.

Good for J.R.! His career spanned multiple eras, moving from being the voice of Mid-South/UWF to JCP/WCW and eventually becoming THE voice of the most successful era in the history of the business.

While I don't believe this "retirement" was his choice, I'm happy that he will be able to move on with his life and focus on other things, maybe even take advantage of new opportunities. Vince never really appreciated him, but he's in the vast minority. Jim Ross is one of the best ever.

Vince is probably jealous of JR's ability to connect with fans through commentary. Vince isn't considered to be a top play by play guy.

"What a maneuver!"

"I DON'T BELIEVE THIS! WHAT THE HELL??! SON OF A *****!! SON OF A ***** I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!! STEVE AUSTIN'S DRINKIN' A DAMN BEER WITH MR. MCMAHON!! STONE COLD HAS SOLD HIS SOUL TO SATAN HIMSELF TO WIN THE WWF TITLE!!! WHY STEVE?! WHY THIS WAY?!" Probably my favorite Jim Ross moment of calling a match ever.

Yep. It sounds like he was given the push in nicest way posiible after the 2K14 presentation fiasco. Shame. The panel was great.

It was more his voice than his announcing for me. His voice just didn't feel fitting. He felt more natural when he became a heel against Austin, oddly enough.

I generally disliked his announcing because it was so generic. Cole is actually a better version of McMahon. Although, every time he calls a suplex a throw I want to punch Cole in the face.

Cole has zero chemistry with anyone they pair him with. He's more of a game show host that shills social networking to the audience. JR made the position way more credible....same goes for Monsoon back in the day. They're my 2 fave announcers of all time. Heenan was the best color guy ever.

I think you mean that Heenan was the best broadcast journalist of all time.

It's just an excuse for Vince to finally be rid of JR, why he has such a dislike for the guy I'll never know. The fact is the 2K14 people were not upset by the panel and most everyone felt Flair livened up something potentially stale and stuffy, plus NO ONE could have controlled Flair the way he was at that panel.

As for them not liking the fact Flair mentioned that Cena drinks 6 packs? ****ing hell, so do they think the kids watching Total Divas think John and Nikki play scrabble when she stays over? give me a break! :whatever:

Gotta let the Ham & Eggers know!

One of my favorite JR calls is when all the McMahons united one time... "BAH GOD, THE MCMAHONS ARE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE. THE SAME NASTY, VILE, EVIL PAGE!!!"

Of course nobody thinks that. For one thing, I'm not sure Nikki can read.
