You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 10

What difference would it make if there wasn't much else competing for that kind of attention? I mean the likes of The Green Hornet TV show went to air during Batman's time, but it flopped. The Hanna-Barbara cartoon didn't come out until 4 years after the 60's show had ended. And that was with Scooby-Doo. So I'm not sure what your point is.

The poor quality of Gotham has nothing to do with other CBTV shows. The great ones like Daredevil and Jessica Jones stand out on their own merits regardless of how many other CBTV shows there are. Just like the 60's Batman show did. Just like great CBMs stand out with their quality in an era where we are swamped with them.

Well, the difference would obviously be even larger audience. The difference would be syndication. Nowadays it's all about that next new show or ep.

That's the thing. From what I've seen the show's improved to a point where the likes of DD and JJ can not only be compared but even be surpassed especially in getting to see that ensemble cast grow and develop like almost no other cbtv show attempts to do.

The 60's show is a classic and a pop cultural icon. It saved the Batman comics when sales were seriously waning. It made household names out of Batman, Robin, and the villains. It also turned the Riddler into an A-list villain.

I don't see the Gotham TV show being looked back on with any major fondness in the years to come. The acting (with a small handful of exceptions like Taylor's Penguin), writing, and general handling of the Batman mythos is horrible.

I agree. I still love the 60's the show after all these years and its never lost its luster for me.

Nope.

What development did Matt Murdock's character have on Netflix? I don't remember any changes other than changing his mind back and forth when it comes to Elektra and Stick.

You could definitely throw Murdock into the category of lead characters who react to the circumstances around him which is the intrigue as opposed to actually seeing him evolve as a person.

Why does the TDK suit look so good in Arkham Knight? It looks way better than in any of the movies. Strange indeed.

One moment like that which really made me like the character is when he talked to that crippled kid in the first episode of Defenders.

It's weird seeing it incorporate the hologram renderer from the gauntlet, or be voiced by Kevin Conroy for that matter. It was the suit I used for the entirety of the game.

AK version has better proportions - the figure is much taller, broader shoulders, cowl is smaller (less bobble-head) more powerful frame overall. Live action version looked just too feeble.

Good point. The base model is much taller and beefier than Bale. Plus, the rain makes it look shinier. And you're primarily looking at Bats from behind. And that segmented neck does look intimidating from the back.

Dark Knight suit has really nice decorative elements and on more intimidating figure (and in more impressive action sequences) they begin to shine. Batman looks wiry and withered in a creepy and awesome way. And rain adds additional sparkle to all that indeed.

As far as handling of it's character's mythos goes, it's take could be worse and reach Arrow levels. It's mythos character's handling is generally fine. Gordon can suffer, as does Leslie Thompkins. But Bruce is generally fine, just suffers from the character being young and a rough start in s1 and the first half of s2. Penguin, Riddler, Hugo Strange, Selina, Alfred, Jerome and Ra's along with Professor Pig and Mad Hatter are pretty solidly done as far as adaptions of their characters or potential characters go. Yeah, the plot is all over the place generally and doesn't make much sense at least half the time, that much is certain to me.

I have literally seen soap operas with better acting than Gotham, or any of those DC shows for that matter. Also, the dialogue is horrendous.

Been in the market for some decent soaps. I'm all ears.

I couldn't endure more than 15 minutes of Gotham. Insanely unbearable.

Gotham is amazing. Best version of Alfred ever. This most recent season is especially good

Irons would be waaay down my list of ''Favourite Alfred's''. He's been merely serviceable so far...

Irons' Alfred leaves no impression. I suppose that is better than leaving a bad impression.

Irons was the one character to call Batffleck a moron for his decisions, that was enough to make his presence more positive than forgettable.

Mildly.

I'll really miss Tacit Ronin.

Tacit was a little kooky but he reminded me of "Old Hype" which just had more spice to it than current Hype does. I'll miss him.
