You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 10

Before I came here, I thought this was a gathering for a group of all buddy-buddy folks, and I was the outsider.

Never argued with the guy or remember any specific instance where he was a jerk

To each their own I guess.

Well that sucks. He was a regular around this thread, for sure.

Tacit liked to push buttons. I guess he pushed a step too far. It's a shame; he added a lot of flavor to the Hype without succumbing too much to hostile trollery (as far as I saw).

Sooooooooooo, that Venom trailer leak.

Looks like they finally nailed his look on film.

So I just watched the Venom trailer. Aside from the final shot which admittedly nails the look....is it just me, or does this movie look significantly bad, like bordering on parody bad?

I was rooting for this movie, an R-rated Tom Hardy Venom movie was enough for me to overlook the fact that it was Sony for a bit....but man did that trailer just reek of Sony.

It looks really bad. Most of the praise I've seen has been for the 3 second money shot of Venom at the end.

Hardy's Brock seems cartoonish to me.

"You work for an evil person"

Yeah, That's pretty bad. Agree about how Venom looks at the end though.

Hardy's Brock seems cartoonish to me.
Thought the same thing. Is this still supposed to be R?
Not sure why there's no redband or even any trailer clips that might come across as being intense enough for that rating.

Hardy just seems like he's giving a terrible performance in Venom. Never thought I'd say that, but yeah... he makes some weird choices.

Even though I'm pretty hyped for it, Hardy's accent is pretty dodgy.

I didn't even know it was Rated R.

Seeing Venom look like Venom on screen is not enough to get interested in that movie. I wanted to give Hardy the benefit of the doubt, but... yeah.

I haven't stopped watching it since it was released. I think it looks great.

It’s definitely gotten me interested in seeing the movie, where I didn’t really care before. Some of the departures they are seemingly taking from the source material have me intrigued as well.

Other choices are really weird to me - symbiote pronounciation being the main thing. The take on the Venom voice seems a bit too basic as well. Needs more Hank Azaria. :awesome:

Has Carnage been confirmed as the villain?

EDIT: Google answered my question. The posted pic looks pretty rad.

Infinity War...3.5/5

Some of the best stuff Marvel has ever done. Yet, a lot of the same old crap in the last half at the same time. Humor was great (Guardians crew were hilarious), villain was good for once, nice balance between all the big characters for a while there.

But then you have the bad.
It's way too long. Scarlett Witch is now speaking in a normal American accent? Lmao. Nice attention to detail Marvel! Heroes aren't willing to sacrifice anything for the greater good of humanity, again. They start off the movie with a bang with ballsy moves, but then can't pull the trigger when the time to execute Tony or even Cap is right. Just like the Leia fiasco. They can never go the extra mile. I'm sure Strange will have some convoluted explanation for giving Thanos the green stone instead of letting Tony die, but some of us aren't stupid. They needed a way to make Thanos half win and keep Iron Man alive.

Cap has very little screen time, and just shows up to punch people for the most part. Very disappointing considering where Civil War left off, and how good of a job the Russo Bros did with that character up to this point. Who cares about Vision? They try to make that all emotional, and i feel nothing. Black Widow has no reason to be alive or kick super-powered beings asses when all she can bring to the table is swift kicks. She's still here because they need a female character played by someone like Scarlet. Wakanda stuff was straight up boring. Another Thor subplot with a random large version of Tyrion Lannister. Umm okay? Where's Ant-Man? He would have been a great help. So Nick Fury isn't retired? War Machine can use technology to operate like he used to? So why spend so much effort in Civil War if it's not really going to matter? And of course nobody is really dead or disappeared, that's all a bait and switch because they've already announced the return of these characters through solo films etc. So what is the point?? It doesn't really mean anything if you're going to bring everyone back magically in the next movie so they can all reunite in the third act to defeat Thanos. Also, as hilarious as the whole movie was, there's still a few times when they didn't have to quip after a serious moment.

Marvel takes a giant step forward and then a couple of steps back, rinse, repeat. Entertaining ride, some good action until it gets exhausting. Good dialogue, which is something DC can't even strive for. Jeff Goldblum should defeat Thanos in the end. One of the only Marvel movies i liked, but it's not special, it just happens to be better than a lot of recent crappy superhero flicks. Maybe if they release a huge cut of this and the next Avengers, it will have more replay value.

So,I'm guessing this will never happen, but I've always hoped for a Catwoman spinoff with Anne Hathaway. She was the best part of the film, imo. I'm biased though since she's my crush and my favorite actress. But I thought she captured Selina perfectly.

It will never happen. The time to do it was a year or two max, after TDKR. Man of Steel and the DCEU stopped that from happening. I personally would have had the film told via flashbacks, with the starting point having Selina and Holly (Jen) in a cold Gotham during Bane's takeover. Then we get into her and her friends past and what led her to this point. Film ends with that scene in Rises where Bruce walks up to her from the shadows "that was very generous of you.." only shot from a different angle and actually showing Selina approaching the area beforehand from her perspective before saving that kid.

But, it will never come to pass unfortunately. Instead we got a bunch of dumb ass movies in a new universe and nothing payed off.
