You people need to decide what you want!

Hold up.....everybody,,,ya gotta look at things in perspective. What Brock Jr posted was right, but I liked this movie. It took it back to the Spidey from the 80's. This movie is a story I could totally of read from a Spectacular Spiderman from the 80's or 90's. Thing is, you have two Spidey stories intertwined into one. Classic Spidey/ Ultimate Spidey. Ya have to understand this is 2 mediums that will never live cohesively. I think the story was great, it wasn't mashed up or rushed it was how the old Spidey comics were,,,crazy villains, girl trouble, and a city to save,,,and it was all finished by the end of the comic,,,not stretched out into a mini series,,,see what I'm sayin? The tone was a lil more mature with the love angle, but that what the spidey character is about....ya can't please everyone I guess, but cut Raimi some slack,,it is Hollywood and he doesn't call ALL the shots, but he made a great movie considering what he was told to do,,,nuff said

Ok, this has nagged at me for a while, and I have to say something.

Fans need to butt out of the equation.

The one time Raimi and crew give you guys what you asked for, you guys turn around and complain. Well, you should've thought of that ahead of time.

You wanted more humor...Raimi delivered.

You wanted to see a villain be evil and stay evil....Raimi gave you Venom.

You wanted classic villains....Raimi went with Sandman.

You griped about Gwen....Raimi put her in (albeit for a small part).

It just goes to show that maybe next time, instead of claiming that Raimi doesn't give you what you want, maybe you aren't seeing the big picture.

Raimi makes movies, you guys don't. He knows what will work...note that when he allegedly wasn't giving you what you want, you claimed that those movies were great.

Incredible how on paper it looks likle everything's ok but on the screen it goes so wrong.

i wanted a good movie!!!

i dont remember people asking for dancing, or excessive pointing.

The whole reason Brock was evil was kinda stupid tho. His whole reason for wanting to kill Peter was because Brock himself screwed up by faking the picture and got fired for it. And Gwen said he wasnt his girl even before Peter and her did their stupid dance. Kinda a lame reason for wanting to kill someone.

not if your a disillusioned psychopath dude. They had one night out wit a cup of cofee..lol,,,then she's his girl? "Psycho talk,,"

Well in all fairness, the comic origin of venom was kinda weak too. Spidey humiliated brock in a very similar way, and brock just went off the deep end. I never thought it was a justifiable reason to hate spider-man/peter parker so much for sucha trivial reason.

Raimi hated Venom to begin with. Its only fitting he dies a horrible death after 5 minutes of screen time.

right we shouldn't blame it all on raimi blame it on avi arad

Producers Beefed Up Spidey 3

12:00 AM, 27-APRIL-07 - Sci-Fi Wire

As he has discussed previously, Raimi added that it was Arad's idea to add the villain Venom to the mix. "Avi Arad, my partner and the former president of Marvel at the time, said to me, 'Sam, ... you're not paying attention to the fans enough,'" Raimi said. "'You need to think about them. You've made two movies now with your favorite villains, and now you're about to make another one with your favorite villains. The fans love Venom. He is the fan favorite. All Spider-Man readers love Venom, and even though you came from '70s Spider-Man, this is what the kids are thinking about. Please incorporate Venom. Listen to the fans now.' And so that's really where I realized, 'OK, maybe I don't have the whole Spider-Man universe in my head. I need to learn a little bit more about Spider-Man and maybe incorporate this villain to make some of the real die-hard fans of Spider-Man finally happy.'" Spider-Man 3 opens May 4.

Eddie you are missing the boat here... no one wanted to see 5 minutes of Venom... EVERYONE (pre-Q&A script release) said they wanted Brock to be a SETUP... no one wanted him in as a main villain once we found out Sandman was in... once it leaked that he was in and killed in the final act we all went beserk... then it was too late.

You'd be surprised, there were some crazy fanboys that wanted Venom to be the only villain in the first movie. :o

BTW I agree with Eddie's post.

I kind of agree with Eddie's post too.

The film had what most fans asked for. The symbiote, Venom (although I don't really like him), another classic villain, the resolution of Harry's story, a more active Peter, more quips, an MJ that actually looks like a model, Gwen Stacy (George too), more balanced action...

Plus it never steered far away from the previous films' atmosphere and dialogue. People complain about the soap opera style of narration. Which is exactly how it was in SM1&2 too. Remember MJ leaving John at the altar? The "Do you love me or not?" back and forth between MJ and Peter? The "We can't be together"? The "Thank God for you Peter"? Aunt May crying whenever Ben was mentioned?

Plus, that's how it was in the comics too. Super powered youths locked in everyday relationships and troubles. But somehow, it's no longer good enough.

The humour and campness? It's there as always. I also think that SM2 had more humour and camp than this one. Spidey films need to be somewhat lighthearted, although this one had the darkest film of all three, too.
And a great theme it was too. Powerful yet very common. Revenge, redemption and forgiveness. Moving the story and characters forward without losing the atmosphere. Yet people still complain.

The film has its flaws. I didn't much like Sandman, growing huge too often, flying around, losing some of his humanity. A couple more scenes to better establish the characters would be very nice. I found the final battle a bit underwhelming and Spidey got beaten too much (although this would be an advantage for Venom fans). But I found many flaws with the previous films too and I still love them.

SM3 is a worthy addition to the series, if not more. But people keep complaining about what was always there in those films. Maybe this particular film alienated them a little or they grew tired of the franchise. And even if it was a disappointment to some, I can't find ANY reason to hate it with such passion and compare it to Batman&Robin or even X3. It's ridiculous. I guess people like to exaggerate.

Fans need to butt out of the equation.

The one time Raimi and crew give you guys what you asked for, you guys turn around and complain.

I haven't complained this entire way through. I thought SM1 was great, and that SM2 was good. I thought SM3 could have delivered a great film that wasn't swallowed up by the romance plot for two of the three acts. I was wrong.

So, should I just shut up and keep paying Sony because it's Spider-Man?

You wanted more humor...Raimi delivered.

When it's unintentional, that's not positive.

You wanted to see a villain be evil and stay evil....Raimi gave you Venom.

No. Raimi gave me a movie monster that goes "KREE!" every few seconds and is there to kill off Harry. Thinking that "that's Venom" is exactly why I don't think Raimi nor Sargent will ever quite understand the inherent complexity.

But, to take a token out of Doc Ock and Visionary's books, since Venom sucks because anything modern =/= a good film adaption that is given respect I should just be happy with my quick frames of my favorite comic villain. Right?

You wanted classic villains....Raimi went with Sandman.

Heh...no. Ask anyone off of the street what Spider-Man villain they were going to see the movie for and you won't get 'a classic' as a reply. Furthermore, ask them of all the available options in the classics of whom they would have liked to have seen in this film and I don't even think Flint would have been brought up. I'm being really presumptuous by admitting I don't speak for the whole...but we didn't want a classic villain. We just wanted something worth watching. The Sandman doesn't fall into that category. The character is so hollow most of what we see in this film is more than the whole comic backstory.

We got the Green Goblin. We got Doc Ock. Now it's about time we moved on past the classics.

You griped about Gwen....Raimi put her in (albeit for a small part).

A cameo, at best, better spent on a Felicia Hardy character who is better suited for the purposes of the film.

It just goes to show that maybe next time, instead of claiming that Raimi doesn't give you what you want, maybe you aren't seeing the big picture.

Raimi made a movie for himself that involved Spider-Man. He wasn't making it for any of us. Thus, there is no big picture. This was his goodbye, and he spent most of it putting the elements he enjoys the most into this movie by the gallon.

Raimi makes movies, you guys don't. He knows what will work...note that when he allegedly wasn't giving you what you want, you claimed that those movies were great.

10% is not a whole. The feedback from SM1 was great. The feedback from SM2 was more tepid but still enthusiastic. Now I'm dealing with people at my school who say by the dozen that "Spider-Man sucks" all over the third film. I hate griping, but it's about time we did a lot of it before we get an SM4 that's even moreso boring.

You wanted more humor...Raimi delivered.
But I meant those snappy one-liners Spidey throws when he fights. There couple of great ones at the Key to the City sequence.

You wanted to see a villain be evil and stay evil....Raimi gave you Venom.

You wanted classic villains....Raimi went with Sandman.
Never asked for those.

You griped about Gwen....Raimi put her in (albeit for a small part).
Well, yeah...

i was very happy with the first two films. so im allowed to be disappointed.
