Zak Penn talks...Hulk sequel!

That's because the hype is NOT a reflection of the average moviegoer but more of a reflection of self important angry militant fans who think 150 million dollar movies should be made to their wishes even if they flop and lose money. Still X3 is ranked high on the main page here. Nuff said. So keep on riding the bashing bandwagon with the minority. To most X3 was the best and most fun film of the series. Not most here...but most in the population.

You have NOTHING to base that opinion on.

I liked Serenity. Wasn't the greatest movie ever but it was fun and held my interest. I guess I'm "trailer trash."
I was referring Serenity being the good movie and X3 the bad one...

I'm a browncoat fyi.

Sorry, it wasn't really clear. I liked both movies. Again, they weren't great but were fun. What's a browncoat?

Yeah you keep believing that X3 is well liked outside of here Avi Arad. Its hated by most on here, and everyone i know and has a poor result on Amazon and Rottentomatoes. Thats all i need to know.

And you dont have a clue do you, fanboys complain about the costumes, how tall Wolverine is, organic web shooters, etc. I complained about non of those things, i just wanted a good movie about my favourite characters that was somewhat faithful, i got non of those things.

Ah, okay. Browncoat is a passionate Firefly/Serenity fan who likes to whine about the cancellation of the series/movies. ;)

I'm a Browncoat too :yay: , Serenity and Firefly are awesome, unlike X3.

Why the hell is 'this guy' writing EVERY comic book movie?!?!?!? That's just STUPID; studio and fans are going to regret it in the long run!

Jamon I don't dispise Angs Hulk. I was making a point that we know next to nothing about what direction they are going with the movie. We know Zak is the writer. Frenchy is the Director and ................... Oh yeah, it's going to be closer to the comic book. There is not one single person in the business (writing, directing, actiing, ect) who hasn't had a stinker. So going on their track record is the norm. But they could suprise us. When Ang Lee was announced as the director of Hulk, people freaked! When they said Hulk dogs, 15 feet, No Gamma Bomb, No Rick Jones, Absorbing dad and Jelly fish, people freaked! Hell most people didn't like the idea of Bana playing Banner. Yes people said "it's going to suck", "Ang Lee?", Growing to 15 feet! "It's going to suck." And look, some people loved the movie. Some people thought it was ok (that would be me) and others wished only bad things to happen to Ang Lee and company for the rest of their lives. I was giving it (Ang) a chance then and I'm giving it (Frenchy) a chance now. I hated the changes being made but said, and Sava and Ions can votch for me, maybe it will work out. In my mind they didn't but that's neither here nor there, my point is, at this point we know next to nothing. When we find out the plot, the FX being used and see the first image then we can at least make an educated guess as to the out come and not just fan-boy gasm. What do you have to look foward to? Proving me wrong for hoping I guess and saying I told you so. :oldrazz:

Well i'll tell you, Zak Penn was enough to completely get dis-interested in this movie in the first place, but i held out hope for a good director, IMO we havent got that, so i held out hope that Bana would come back, knowing he only would with a good script, looks like he's out, so i really dont like the way this is going. Sorry if you cant accept that but thats the way it is, and i dont like telling people i told you so either, i will get NO joy out the fact that this movie is crap is that turns out to be the case.

Ah, Ok. I figured it had something to do with Serenity. I never heard of it until the movie came out. I hope they make another movie. :yay:

How much money it grossed is irrelevent to the film's quality. Look at Westlife. Westlife completely blow, and yet they've broken all sorts of record sales. Good sales does not equal good quality.

Look at IMDB user ratings...

X-men - 7.3/10
X2 7.9/10
The Last Stand 7.0/10

Looks like Last Stand comes in last.

Do you know the website Rotten Tomatoes? Rotten Tomatoes counts up alot of professional critic revews and adds up the positive and negative, giving an overal percentage.

Do you know what The Last Stand got? A terrible 57% overall.
Reviews Counted: 211
Fresh: 120 Rotten: 91
Average Rating: 5.9/10

X-Men - 80%
Reviews Counted: 127
Fresh: 102 Rotten: 25
Average Rating: 6.9/10

X2 - 87%
Reviews Counted: 212
Fresh: 184 Rotten: 28
Average Rating: 7.4/10

X2 has one more review counted than Last Stand, and yet Last stand has 91 rotten - X2 only has 28 rotten.

If Last Stand is such a good movie, how do you explain that?

The reason why X-Men 3 made so much money - the movies that came before it, and a VERY aggressive marketing scheme.

Yep. That's the fact. Without X2's (and X1's) success I don't think X3 would have been so big hit.

well

at my blockbuster

i always tell people not to rent supes and x3

and they always ask "why?"
and when i tell them the jist

"poor writing, bad characterization, lame storyline"
they either rent something else or try it anyway

then they come back and tell me that they wish they listened to me and then they try to stop people from renting it

i ask them when they buy it
"have u seen it yet?"
and the guy would be like "yea, but my 6(SIX) year old son loved it

it seems that x3 and supes attracted a lot of the kiddies with their effects

now i dont know enough of ol zak to start bad mouthing this new hulk film

we know way too little

wait for a script review
wait for some actual plot details

and lets all just say to ourselves

a really good actor can always adlib really bad dialogue and a smart director can always demand rewrites

max that with MARVEL, who is not fox, they dont wanna blow this **** up
they can stop lying for fox, because if this **** goes to ****ing hell, its their asses on the line.

x3 was a terrible rush job that the team wrote on lunch breaks from tic tac toe rematches

hulk seems actually have people working on it

first it has a script that it was based on
then it has changed
then expect rewrites
then expect more rewrites once u get the actor(sometimes u just cant picture certain words out of certain people)

i'm not asking for complete devotion

more like......****...i dunno, lets wait until they really **** something up, like hire madonna to play banner and have the hulk speak french

What scares me the most, is how he will look like.

What is he looks like a ******, completely different from the original? With prostetics, shoddy CGI like Jekyll in LXG, or clay animation? :(

I thought he looked really good in the original. Why don't they just stick to that look?

Leterrier will probably mess with the look. Remember, he distinctly stated that he was pleased with a 'greyer' Hulk tone and wanted to add a 'monstrous feel'. So if we end up getting CGI of him as a green-grey Neanderthal with an overemphasized lip don't be surprised.

And I'm in agreeance kainedamo. I think they got the look perfect in the first. I was always a fan of the Professor, and have always felt the classic look becomes dated by the day. They should just stick with a Deodato-like interpretation and leave it at that, with perhaps a noticeable tint to his hair to placate the 'wtfhulkshairisntblack' people.

He didn't say greyer. He said less green. He even laughed at us for having a discussion over what color the HULK would be. He then told us he was still green, just less green than the first.

I'm actually cool with that. Sounds like the comic version.

I'm totally ready to see this...

We know very little at this point. Once we actually see, with our eyes, what they are doing then we can start to form an opinion based on something other than "Its not going to be like Angs Hulk so its going to suck." When I hear that, it's music to my ears. On the other hand, I'll be the first to admit it's going to suck if the trailer looks like crap.
We know a great deal at this point. And right now I'm chiefly concerned with the writing.

I think I speak for most Hulk fans when I say that we don't want a Hulk movie like FF, X3, or Elektra. We want an AWESOME movie. Not some sub-par piece of crap. Do YOU want something the next Hulk movie to be written at the same standard as Elektra? Then I guess you don't have anything to worry about. The rest of us do.

I sense news. Something is brewing...it's too quiet. The crickets aren't even chirping. :)
