2008 Academy Awards

Totally Disagree. NCFOM was something that I have never seen before. Javier Bardem created one of the scariest villains since Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lamb.

.

it's an average movie with one great character and I wasn't talking about that in the post you quoted.

I didnt hate Jon Stewart. I wasnt laughing out loud but I didnt think he was a bore

The best movie of 2007 - The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - wasn't even nominated for that category. Such a shame.

I loved how there was nice ending. The hero didn't win and the freaking hotel shootout in the hotel was amazing.

Juno i felt was a close second. But NCFOM was just a tid better.

What shootout..?

Anyone who says Million Dollar Baby, A LIFETIME MOVIE with good cinematography and acting deserved to win over the Scorcesse masterpiece that was The Aviator needs to rewatch both immediately. And there were so many good movies in 2005, Crash winning is just sad.

Dude "Crash" was so overhype. IMO it felt like it was just let see how many races we can put down. Yeah this is Los Angles we all hate each other! I swear 5 kitchen sinks were thrown in that movie. Screw hat movie.

The only redeeming quality were Matt Dillon, Don Cheadle, and Terrance Howard. But Terrance and Don are great in everything.

We're there any real upsets? Seemed like there weren't.

  • Transformers not getting Best Visual FX.
  • Enchanted getting 3 nominations for Best Song, while Hairspray (yeah, yeah, laugh it up) and a few others didn't get anything.

Other than that, I'm good.

The Coens deserved it all. And they didn't give a crap. No one got the ending to their movie...they didn't give a crap. Give them awards....they don't give a crap. Awesome.

Still a disgrace that Zodiac wasn't nominated for anything.

This year's awards were about as bad as the year Return of the King won everything except Best Hobbit.

What if Tranformers won something? But nah I agree... I called it... lack luster year... shocked that an actress (two I might add) won and I never even heard of them before... those were the only suprises... but the movies this year were pretty average as they have been for some time now... wasn't too big on Million Dollar Baby or Crash or Departed... I don't know... I actually prefer when there is that huge movie like LOTR taking all the technical awards when the field isn't really deep, with those underdogs vying for Director and Best Picture in the mix... the past few years not only have we not had those big time films... the field hasn't even been deep in recent years.

I know it is opinion, but the rolling laughing pissed me off. ;)

As for Aviator, I'd call it one of Scorcesse's best that goes mostly overlooked because it didn't have anyone murdered. I personally liked it better than The Departed.

At any rate (IMO) it was better than MDB, which had the same script and storyline as something that airs primetime on the Lifetime network.

Well i cannot debate it as ive yet to see The Aviator, i was just recalling what many of the build up articles said.

Hey! Joe Pesci had that award coming after he was screwed out of the Oscar for Gone Fishin'! :cmad:

Gush gush, you're on fire gush!!! :lmao:

In regards to Best Picture, Best Director, and all four acting awards, I agree with every single one. That's a first for me.
I agree, I cant remember the last time I was even happy with 2 of the outcomes.

Surprises? Yeah there were plenty. Like, for example:

How the hell did The Bourne Ultimatum NOT win Best Picture? How on god's green earth did Matt Damon NOT win Best Actor? Best Director to the Coens?? Uh....Paul Greengrass FTW. And screw Tilda "Skeletor" Swinton. Julia Stiles supported the hell out of Bourne.

**** the Academy.

I didn't find Bardem's character all that scary to be honest. I knew he was a killer, I knew he was gonna kill everyone he wanted to. He was unstoppable, but to me he wasn't anything special. He just is a very good actor and played the role really well. In the end though his character didn't stand out to me anymore than Michael Miers, The Terminator or any other series of unstoppable killing machines. He had a neat gimmick with his weapon and a great actor playing him....aside from that I don't think he's going to be remembered forever in film villain history.

I will say this. Jon Stewart on his worst night is still better than Ellen Degeneres on her best night.

To answer your question, I was talking about your older avy with the multiple images of Sidney (since I think you missed my last post on it).

I think you missed my last post buddy...

"Oh...well That was just a concept, which I will be compiling some of her aliases into one... so it'll take me a while. -sighs- to go through each and every single episode from season 1 through 5."

Jon Stewart was ok , some of the jokes were bad though. I thought Steve Martin was a good host . The others didn't come off as that funny and even Chris Rock kinf of dissapointed.

A lot thought Casey Affleck was better than Bardem in a less obvious type role but the film on a whole had no backing from the moment it got it's release shuffled over and over, the studio just wasn't interested in pushing for it.

The only comment that I got a kick from was when he called the guy who won best song arrogant.

Give him a break the writers began to work on the oscars this Wednesday....

What were you expecting, this is the Oscars, the choices are always mostly horrible.
