2008 Academy Awards

For some reason, I am behind Tilda Swinton for Best Supporting Actress.

Just saw Michael Clayton, and I agree, she's really good in it, especially the final scene. If I were to pick who I want to win, it'd probably be her.

She was good, but I think Amy Ryan did a marginally better job in her role.

NCFOM better win the Best Picture. I'm sure "There Will Be Blood" is a great film, but NCFOM was unbelievable.

I think that both No Country For Old Men and Juno were better films than There Will Be Blood.

Can't wait for everyone to come on here and whine about their choices not winning!

I remember all of the arguments last year. It was hell. Pro-Departed posters vs. Pro-Little Miss Sunshine posters, arguments about whether comedies could be eligible for Best Picture, how Scorcese and The Departed were "overrated," how Clint Eastwood is so desperate for another Oscar, etc.

Oh look, pretty celebrities.

I wonder if it's considering too soon for a Heath Ledger montage/memorial/tribute? They'll probably do one.

As much as I like Stewart, I wish they would give Conan O'Brian his chance at the Oscars. Or bring back Billy Crystal. "Let this endless show end toooooniiiiiight!" Still, anyone's better than Ellen.

The only thing is, Ledger died in 2008. They usually do tributes the following year for all actors who died in the year. So Ledger's may not be until the 2009 Oscars. Then again, it was pretty high profile, so they may stick it in.

Someone might stick a few seconds of eulogy in when they get behind the mic this year.

Well that is bound to happen.

Juno was a good movie, a very fun film. But best Picture!?

As far as cinematic achievements, Jesse James, American Gangster, and several others should all fair above Juno.

I love Ellen Page, she was awesome. But Best Actress worthy?!

I don't think Juno deserves that many noms when movies like Gangster and Sweeney(on a superior level of cinema) are snubbed in many categories.

Burton and Helena Boham Carter both got screwed.

Sweeney should have gotten best picture and Burton best Director. Did Sweeney at least get a best adapted screenplay nom?

Only got the UK coverage here:cmad:
Wished I had E, oh well it will do.
