Yea God forbid they actually give it to the best film.
Do they everYea God forbid they actually give it to the best film.
. I mean there are some years where I'm like, yeah I agree with that choice, but I mean Goodfellas, Star Wars and many many other films, actors and actresses have lost in the Oscars because of politics, not based on the films merits. I mean remember when Halle Berry won because they wanted to prove they didn't hate black people.Do they ever. To some, Juno IS the best film of the year. Why so elitist?

I dont think it should have even been nominated, I think there were many other films this year who deserve an Oscar nomination above Juno.
The rat takes it. I was suspecting Persepolis. I'm still pissed The Simpsons weren't nommed.

I don't disagree, I just think Juno is more in line with the message they are trying to push. The Oscars have been nominating comedies a little more aggressively these last few years, but none have actually won. A lot of people criticize them for being out of touch and basically just a bunch of old white guys who rate movies. So shoving a picture like Juno to the top spot makes them look all young and now.I think No Country should win.
I'm not saying this or that film sucks, but I've just come to realize how much the Oscar values "message" and "publicity" over actualy quality when it comes to nominating and awarding films/actors/etc.Thats true, I'll agree with that. More often than not though I believe they give it to the "best" nominee.
