I expect that Cincy team to be madder than Rosie O'Donnell when she's out of Twinkies when they hit the field

Madder than Tiger Woods running out of new courses to use his putter?

Brian Kelly's decision makes me sick. I can understand 'following your dream', but...

completely...when I heard he got the job, I was like "ok, its been his dream and he'll finish up with Cincy in a bowl game and move on" and then I heard he was leaving the team immediately and I was like....

*****e. Bag.

My thoughts exactly, BL..when I saw he won't coach in the Sugar Bowl. Gotta make Cincy's guys feel good, right? Knowing they were apparently nothing more than a stepping stone for Kelly's "dream". :whatever:

It was a pretty ****ty move; just hauling ass like that. The want for a higher profile gig with more resources/greater challenge/whatever is understandable, but showing up to the team awards banquet, saying 'It was real' and peacing out is *****etastic.

Have enough respect for your guys to finish out the season ...or give the administration the opportunity the chance to say 'no thanks' and fire your soon-to-be-shamrock-loving ass.

As if I needed another reason to root against Notre Dame. :awesome:

What else can the guy do?

Notre Dame offered him a whole lot more money, a much better college and a much better opportunity. Loyalty is important, but this is the man's livelihood - the man's career. There is no way you can agree to be Notre Dame's coach and then spend a month coaching at Cincinnati while also taking care of Notre Dame. You can't do it.

Notre Dame couldn't hire Brian Kelly if he wasn't going to be able to work for the school until after the Sugar Bowl. You can't afford to put in place a coaching staff after January first while still trying to recruit and find coaches and all of that. Can't do it.

You also can't coach Cincinnati while coaching Notre Dame. You can't sit in Cincinnati, while calling up coaches and players to recruit for Notre Dame and asking the responsibilities of two colleges to be placed upon his shoulders isn't fair either.

Does it suck for Cincinnati's players? Of course.

Does it suck for Brian Kelly? Yea. It's requires you to assume Brian Kelly is inhuman to believe that Brian Kelly ISN'T disappointed that he won't be able to coach HIS kids in the bowl game.

But you can't ask a man to give up a better career, a better life, a better paycheck all in the name of a month in a game that doesn't matter.

You can call him an *******, but it's unfair to do so. This is a man doing the best he can in a complex situation.

Cinci players were crying when he did the same thing to his previous job to come coach them. Its life.

Agreed 100%.

Though, as a Michigan fan, I reserve the right to also agree with (and quote) Bo Schembechler when he said: "To Hell with Notre Dame." Therefore, by extension, I say: To hell with Brian Kelly.

Lastly, one must wonder how this would be different if Cincinnati were playing for a championship and if that mere fact has anything to do with his taking the gig.

Yeah because this is the first time it's ever happened where a coach gets another job before a bowl game. Urban Meyer was able to do it. Mike Price did it. It can be done.

GO NAVY!!!

I'd only agree with Norman in the sense that Notre Dame probably said "take the job now or we look for someone else"

Here let me fix that up for you. Give it a little pizz-azz.

Works best if you're in the Southeast and know the back story..........

Good ol' Make It Rain Mike Price.

Norman is born to disagree with everyone else.

Hype Member: Water is wet.
Norman: No it isn't.

It's difficult being so right all the time.

Most coaches that are hired before a bowl game either leave or mail in the bowl performance. It's more fair to Cincinnati for Kelly to get out of there and rally behind a coach that can stand in front of the team.

Chris Fowler to the crowd: "No running back has won the Heisman this decade".

How did you possibly forget Reggie Bush?

Surprised it took this long for a Bama player to win the Heisman. I'm curious to see what his NFL chances will be in 2011.
