Looks like Orlando is taking Howard off the table.

Looks like Orlando is taking Howard off the table.

I think Orlando wants to keep Howard until the last trading deadline, and see if they can either get a much better deal or can convince Howard to stay as a Magic. Either way, it looks like Lakers won't be getting him anytime soon.

This year's trade deadline might be crazier than usual given the odd schedule this year and the big names out there (although last year had some big names). Might be interesting being closer to the start of the playoffs.

As a Lakers fan I'm happy TBH. If things work out, we can still get him in the offseason for much less. And if not, at least we didn't insult anybody else on the squad any further, and hopefully can start concentrating on the season ahead.

In the meantime, Kupchak & Buss had better have some type of backup plan for Odom, as it stands right now, we have zero bench...

I'm still unhappy with the Odom trade, and in a way I'd rather traded Bynum than Odom because at least Odom won't be out with injury in the middle of the season, like Bynum has done ever since he took over the starting center job years ago. Now when Bynum is on IR again, who will take over his position? Unfortunately, from what I've heard Bynum is Jim Buss' own pet project, and he won't trade him for just about anything.

Yeah Buss is the real problem, he didn't pull the trigger on the Melo trade because of his love affair with Bynum, and while alot of Lakers fans didn't agree with it, I thought Melo would have took a huge load off of Kobe in terms of scoring. I think he's just underrated period, but I digress...

What's Bynum's injury average, something like at least 17 gms a year since he's been in the league? He just has an awkward body, he seems real uncoordinated which I think results in most of his injuries. I personally think when healthy and motivated, he's the second best Center in the league and I stand by that. But that being said, he's never been healthy. Ever. At some point, you have to cut bait. If Dwight is still around at the end of the year (which I doubt) that would be the time to do it...

Melo on the Lakers woulda been terrible. Melo and Kobe woulda had a knife fight in the showers after the first game.

According to the story I've heard, both Phil and Kobe wanted Melo, but Buss nixed the deal because he didn't want Lakers to trade Bynum. Now if Lakers miss the Dwight Howard trade because of Buss again, then I'd wish Dr. Buss would fire his own son out of the team. :cmad:

Lol, doubt it. Kobe respects the hell out of Carmelo, actually of all the young players, he's closest to him on a personal level. Kobe even referenced him as his "brother" on a few occasions. He & Phil Jackson wanted that deal.

More importantly than that however, Kobe knows Melo can bring it when motivated, as they battled each other in '09 WCF vigorously, and that's still to date, Melo's best playoff series IMO.

Everyone cites Kobe's attitude all the time, but he's only ever had a serious issue with one teammate, and it was directly a result of Shaq's lack of work ethic, every other problem they've ever had stems from that. I mean the guy put up with Smush Parker & Kwame Brown for pete's sake, Carmelo would've been the best offensive player he's ever played with. I think he would've welcomed the reduced load.

Chris Paul officially a Clipper! Man my clips gave up way too much! Minnys pick and Gordon! Watch stern fix the draft next year and the hornets get two picks in the top 3!!!

Clippers got raped.

In fact, Clippers got...

Congrats to Clippers for pulling off this blockbuster deal, something that the old Clippers team won't have been able to do. However, they gave up both Gordon and the T-Wolves' first-round pick in the trade, and I think they ultimately gave up a bit too much for CP3. But neverthless, congrats.

Agreed...They got raped, but they also got a superstar the team will love and enjoy seeing.

This team will be amazing to watch...Right there with Thunder

And look at this, acting as an actually intelligent NBA owner, Stern actually got the Hornets a WAY better deal than what they would've gotten from the Rockets.

Good job.

The NBA "Roethlisbergered" the Clippers.

Nice job NBA.

So I heard that CP3 will only sign a 2-year deal with the Clippers. Is this true? If so, then it means Paul will become a FA in 2013-2014.

No Paul will opt in 2013 not next year...he won't sign an extension now cuz of the new cba rules he can make more money as a free agent but Clippers will have bird rights for Paul which mean he can get more yrs and money with the clippers than any other team...

If he ain't no closer to winning a title in 2 years then he'll leave. No matter how much they can give him.

Yeah, Clippers have a two-year window to convince Paul to sign an extension, and it depends on whether they will be in the fold to win a championship, since this is one of the things that he wanted from his new team.

David Stern for Executive of the Year.

That's a damn good deal for a rebuilding team looking for new ownership... and may be subject to being moved (Hi, I'm Larry Ellison). I figured it'd either be Gordon or the Minnesota pick. Stubborn bastard got both.

Nah, I think Paul stays there...Griffin and CP3 will be a amazing duo

Time to trade Mooo Williams for SG or amnesty his azz
