2011 NFL Thread: The Final Four - Part 12

I'm torn on Alex after what he did last week.

But son of a ***** he stunk up the joint today.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Niner fanbase will keep blaming Crabtree when Smith throws the ball into his feet from 5 yards away with no pass rush and Crabtree wide open. There is some serious denial in that fanbase about Alex's ineptitude. I think people don't want to admit he's a bust because he was a #1 pick.

Both teams were stymied by the other teams' defenses... however, you take away the silly turnovers. ESPECIALLY the muffed punt return, and it's a tough 17-10 Niner win...

The Niners were able to move the ball occasionally, other than the big play in the first quarter, but the Giants could hardly move the ball in the entire 2nd half, aside from the short 29 yard field after the fumble...

You take away that "touched knee" play... Niners win the game... you take away that dropped interception and/or the helmet catch in SB 42, the Pats win the game...

Flukey team.

I would never call a team that won a championship "flukey". They had to win several games to get to that point, and I would never say that a team didn't earn a Super Bowl.

Man that was a great game!

Nsh, they will blame Ted Ginn

When they won in '07, they were playing up to their potential.

While both teams played a tough game in SB 42, if you take away the "helmt catch" and/or the "dropped interception" the prior play, both on the final game winning drive, and the Pats win the game...

Yes, they might have been playing to their full potential.... both teams played a great game, but those were flukey plays that played a pivotal role in the outcome of the game.

Definitely rooting for the Giants again in the rematch, they're a scary team right now.

Now everyone here in NYC is going to all of a sudden going to be Giants fans. I can't wait. :whatever:

Maybe in your dreams...I am rooting for a meteor to hit the stadium, but that is very unlikely so i will pick the team I despise less.

NY infact has a plethora of Giant bandwagon fans

I think the Giants are the only team with under 10 regular season wins to make it to the Superbowl.

Don't New York and Boston hate each other? Or is that only in baseball?

City is divided I think between the sports of football and baseball for NY. Although, I'd root for the Jets if they were in the Superbowl if it was anyone but the Giants.

If we're doing this "What If" stuff. If the refs would have called the penalty of the Broncos in Overtime...the Steelers could have gotten the ball...scored...met the Patriots...BEAT the Patriots...then BEAT the Ravens and it would be the Steelers vs. Giants in the Super Bowl!

See what I did there? :oldrazz:

I hate all things Boston, but it primarily is a baseball thing. Still, you'll find fans who will go against every team up in NE

How does winning a 4th Super Bowl prove he's the best?

As a Steelers fan, I will say Joe Montana is the best QB ever
Brady just tied Joe Montana with 16 career postseason wins and will soon join John Elway as the only quarterbacks to start five Super Bowls. That's what proves he is the best.

I'll direct you to The Howard Stern show where he regularly plays clips of Giants fans drunkenly calling Tom Brady every dirty word in the book. Which was recorded before the Super Bowl 42 match up.

So, I'm guessing those fans still have the same feelings toward the Patriots and Tom Brady. :woot:

I don't know about that.

The fanbase hates Alex Smith pretty strongly, at least until last week.

After tonight, they are back to hating him.
