There's no way TDKR, a POS of a movie, will have any legs. People went back to TDK to see the Joker and it's layered, but balanced plot; people went back to Inception to see if they missed anything; there is no reason to go back to it other than a lesson in how to not overstuff a movie to the point of its weight crumbling on itself. Whedon, on the other hand, balances his ensemble perfectly.

I saw TDKR today. All of the IMAX shows were sold out for the day and the place had plenty of families waiting on line. If it's deterring anyone, I think it's very few people.

Most likely those tickets were bought in advance and people didn't want the money to go to waste.

Trying to measure how this tragedy affects the box office is like trying to measure how Ledger's death affected TDK.

If people were genuinely afraid of being shot at a movie - especially if they were bringing kids, they'd eat the cost of the tickets.

I bought my tickets earlier this week. We still went to the movie because we wanted to see it, the news of the tragedy didn't deter a thing.

I think the affect this will have on tickets sales will be very minimal.

Exactly. I work in NYC, and I was in the city on 9/11. I've never been deterred from going back there since then. It's always with you, because something bad did happen and can happen again...but I have a job to get to. I love theater. And I love the city. I can't let that keep me from doing anything for the rest of my life.

That's where extra security comes in. Although, now, one has to wonder how ticket and food prices will be affected. If theaters do decide to spice up security, someone has to pay for it.

Yeah a friend texted me saying she wouldn't go see it this weekend in fear of a copy cat and was surprised I went. I said don't slip in the shower. I'm more likely to die in a car accident tonight than I was with an unstable person shooting at me in a theatre. I'm in Canada but even still, I would've went to any of theater in the United States to watch it tonight with my chalk bat Legend t-shirt.

Loved the film, amazing. Warner Bros. will get another IMAX ticket out of me.

Any effect wouldn't be felt till Sat and Sunday. You have to think it would have some effect on walk ups.

There was like one cop car at our theater... just goes to show how this thing is really just an isolated incident. I doubt it's going to inspire copycats. That's a bit of a stretch and something out of a movie. As horrible as this is, it's interesting to think about the security to a movie theater now. I mean should it be more secure?

But I doubt something like this is going to kill the OW gross.

I think having metal detectors installed is a bit much. It's theatres, not airport.

just extra security would be enough IMO.

Yeah things like that annoy me i'm glad you corrected your friend. You see this is what these people want by doing these things they want us holed up and scared probably because that's what they are.

I've been to israel before where the threat or terrorism is far greater than in north america and people just live their lives there still.

I almost feel people should be going to the theaters in defiance.
