50 state initiative

Is it a one shot? Is it an ongoing?

I would like it to be kinda like 52, maybe come out everyother week though, it should focus mainly on the 50 superteams throughout the U.S., with the exception of New York. Showing how states like Montana, Utah, etc are affected by the initiative, I'm guessing there will be quite a bit of B-C listers floating around on the various teams, so if it was an ongoing, it would be a b-listers paradise. I would buy it.

Its a mini-series.

Frankly, the only bad thing about the 50 State Initiative is that it is happening in CW, a story that pretty much turns liberal hatred of the current administration, especially before Democrats retook Congress, and harnesses these emotions for punch. When 2008-2009 comes and a Democrat is President and Congress still under their control, then Marvel's government will suddenly be less evil and the 50 state thing will really kick off. Bank on it.

I'm Banking on it. :woot:

If nothing else It'll be way way to use C-Z list heroes and hopefully re-energize them, while seeing cities other than New York.

I live in New York so chances are that we'd get the Mighty Avengers.

Yes thats who you get.

I live i California, we are getting the Champions. I'm cool with that, but I dont think any of them are established heroes.

Exactly. Agree fully on this point.

CW has had a lot of good ideas executed poorly, and a lot of bad ideas executed poorly, and some good ideas executed well. This is a good idea. Fans have mentioned something like it for at least the past 1-2 years around here and Marvel is delivering.

I suspect that some form of the SHRA will remain after CW, or at least a score of heroes under federal employ, and some series starring some of these bold new teams (of HEROES) could do well.

I thought of one for Texas, but it kind of sucked. It was basically The Rangers plus Ghost Rider and John Jameson.

Flesh it out Q, you know me I like hearing others ideas and takes on things. People hated my idea 'ATLiens' didn't hurt me one bit.

Plus you usually got good ideas so let it rip Homey.:hyper:

My question is how do the determine how many members each team gets... I suggest the same as senate and house seats. So every state gets at least a 3 man team.
Basically Add two to the data in the census numbers. Or maybe not. Alaska would just get 1 hero then.

Alaska only get one?

That sucks for them or maybe not.

Texas:

The Ranger- John Wyatt is a real Texas Ranger. he volunteered to undergo power-treatment. He now has hightened endurance so that he could run all day and never tire, enhanced senses, and enhanced strength.

Labor: a mexican empowered by the sacred Rosary he carries. he is a class 85 strength with not just unbreakable skin, but also fire-proof. He is quiet, but proud.

Spur: champion Rodeo rider, Spur is a woman who can communicate with and command animals.

Two-Gun Kid: transfered to Houston with Marge and a few other lawyers to open up a branch of the firm.

I really like Labor although I'm kinda split on his name, I get your reason for choosing it.

Ranger is kinda like a Captain America for Texas? Tommy Lee Jones popped into my mind for what he might look and act like.

Good lord, this character would never be published as a serious character.

It was basically what I said. The Rangers, minus Firebird and plus Ghost Rider and Stargod.

I'd read it. We Mexicans need more representation, and quiet-but-proud fire-proof, physically impervious Mexicans are what we want.

I agree with that statement entirely. I'm not sold on the name either, I want a better name. I was thinking some spanish word possibly the word for "Faith" since his power comes from a rosary, or the word for "Power".

and you totally got Ranger. I was thinking Tommy Lee Jones too (We've both seen Man of the House).

I'm working on Alaska... I'm trying not to make them into "Icons of their state" but a super-hero that would come out of that state.

Alaska... I have two so far.

Harpoon: an atlantean hybrid (no royal blood). he can breath underwater, has super strength (class 50), dark blue skin, can stand the intense cold, and carries, you guessed it, a harpoon as his weapon.

Yeti: an honest to god abominable snow-man taken in by Harpoon. Yeti is about as intelligent as a six yearold, but a class 70 strength. his fur renders him immune to the cold. He is extremely trusting and very pleasent until he is angered.

Zoken: we must stay the course: someday our dreams of a quiet-but-proud fire-proof, physically impervious Mexican will be reality.

Zoken, there's already a character called Harpoon. He's an assassin for The Brotherhood. He basically has the same powers as Gambit, except he throws harpoons.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not... leauger.

Don't worry, I will put latino heroes in other states.

his name is staying Harpoon (They said in CW#6 that they would have name overlaps anyway). another for the Alaskan team is Melt. one of the many mutants that "survived" M-day and managed to stay out of the Xavier gulag, I mean concentration camp, I mean internment camp, I mean school. She can create streams of super-heated plasma.

Faith=Fe

Power=Poder.

How about a combination: Pofe: the Power of the Faith. Also, he has a very bushy moustache.

Fe works well. and I guess he can have a mustache, I'd actualy imagined him clean shaven.

Tommy Lee Jones is the man!

Ranger would be f--kin' cool! Damn I think Q should flesh this premise out.
