50 state initiative

Excellent point! Since most teams need more than 1 hero to protect even a small state, perhaps they could use the same census numbers that determine Senate & House seats and double them? Or perhaps do that but set it up like the "great compromise" and ensure that while big states may get bigger teams due to pop, every state has to have a team of at least 4 members (taking after the Fantastic Four who commonly make due with 4). Much as the Founding Fathers created the Senate to ensure that small and big states had equal reps and the House to ensure that population did matter.

Such as, large population states could have teams with as many members as the census figures calculated (I've seen many an X-Roster juggle that) while every state is guarenteed at least a 4 member team. That way larger states may end up with 8-10 member teams but even small states like Alaska would get a foursome.

The hero's powers could also come into play. I mean, 1 Superman in Metropolis is usually enough. But that would feel like discrimination, and either wouldn't work or could make for an interesting plot point.

Maybe, along with having at least four members, every state gets at least one "tank," I/E a hero with Thor or Superman like power levels. Since one person with levels like that stays pretty busy in a single city with super powered/supernatural crime, you;d need at least one while patroling an entire state.

Man-Thing (And totally not get why that name is funny).

I like the team, but you might want to lower the amount of deeds Good Samaratain must do.

I figure Good Samaritan has found a way to 'Cheat' the rules of his abilities. Not that it's him being lazy or a right bastard, he does things like fill random peoples parking meters or help old ladies across the street out of habit. So he's always even without thinking about it doing 'Good deeds' hell he probaly wakes up in the morning and takes out his neighbors trash just for good measure.

Oh yeah and something like saving a life is like bonus points for him.

I'd love to see this team, just to see what kind of out fits they have.

Good idea, if we got any artist here wanna give it a try on designing these characters?

I wish I could F'n draw!

I can only mutilate men in various ways. *sad*

Pennsylvania

Washington: enhanced strength and slightly enhanced speed, a melee-fighter.

Jefferson: telekinesis

Franklin: electrokinetic and genius

Paine: telepathic persuasion powers

I was just going for the Founding Fathers. I wanted to diversify some, but damnit, the history of that era was written by white people.

I'll make a group called

FREEDOM RING!! (Kirkman ain't using it.)

Nat Turner

Fredrick Douglas

Crispus Atticus

Harriet Tubman

What did each of them do? what made them stand out. sorry but I'm only familiar with the actions of Harriet Tubman. She would more than likely have a teleportatin power, or something that would help transport great amounts of people.

First of all, 50 States is just too much. Instead of cloning new superheroes and such I'd just go with existing superhero teams and assign them to regions

Region 1 (Avengers)
States: New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C.
Base of Operations: New York City, New York
Heroes: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hank Pym, Wasp, Hulk, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Falcon, Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man
Leadership: Captain America/Iron Man

- The New York City Region experiences the most crime and requires more of a superhero "army" to fight it. Along with defending the nation's largest city and one of its busiest ports, the Avengers are also responsible for defending the nation's capital along with the X-Men. The Avengers are the premier superhero team and are called upon throughout the United States if the situation calls for it. The Avengers are also responsible for mentoring the Young Avengers (Patriot, Wiccan, Hulkling, a new Iron Lad, Kate Bishop, Stature, Spider-Girl, Vision, and Speed)

Region 2 (Fantastic Four)
States: Massachusetts, Conneticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine
Base of Operations: Boston, Masachusetts
Heroes: Mister Fantastic, Invisable Woman, Human Torch, The Thing
Leadership: Mister Fantastic

- Along with protecting the New England Region, the Fantastic Four are called upon throughout the United States in unusual "scientific" threats.

Region 3 (The X-Men)
States: Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennesee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C.
Base of Operations: Hampton Roads, Virginia
Heroes: Cyclops, Phoenix, Iceman, Beast, Angel, Wolverine, Shadowcat, Colossus, White Queen, Rogue, Gambit, Bishop, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Polaris, Havok
Leadership: Professor X/Cyclops

- This may seem to be a little extreme to have so many heroes in the Virginia Region, but it is one of the most vital regions in the United States. The Virginia Region contains the Hampton Roads area which is one of the nation's biggest ports; Norfolk, the base of the Atlantic Fleet for the United States Navy; and Washington D.C. the nation's capital, whose jurisdiction is shared with the Avengers. Along with defending the Virginia Region, the X-Men are responsible for dealing with threats to mutants and mutant threats throughout the United States. The X-Men are also responsible for mentoring the New X-Men (Hellion, X-23, Surge, Dust, Mercury, Rockslide, Elixir, Blindfold, Hisako Ichiki, Anole)

Region 4 (Great Lakes Champions)
States: Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming
Base of Operations: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Heroes: Mr. Immortal, Big Bertha, Flatman, Doorman, Squirrel Girl
Leadership: Mr. Immortal

- The Great Lakes Champions are dedicated to protecting the Great Lakes Region. Unfortunately for them, they are the undeserving laughing stock of the country. Everyone thinks that they are lame because not only do they contain members like Flatman and Squirrel Girl, but they also protect the Midwest, where nothing happens anyways.

Region 5 (Thunderbolts)
States: Illinois, Michigan
Base of Operations: Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan
Heroes: Hawkeye, Songbird, Moonstone, Penance, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Radioactive Man, MACH IV, Atlas, Swordsman, Deadpool
Leadership: Hawkeye

- Operating in the crime plagued cities of Chicago and Detroit, the Thunderbolts fight those who they used to be a part of. Being former villains, the Thunderbolts are not well liked by the American public. But instead of trying to earn the public's trust, the Thunderbolts see their mission as one of redemption, except for Deadpool who really doesn't give a damn about redemption.

Region 6 (Defenders)
States: Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida
Base of Operatoins: New Orleans, Louisiana and Atlanta, Georgia
Heroes: Dr. Strange, Clea, Moon Knight, Black Knight, Nighthawk, Gargoyle, Ghost Rider
Leadership: Dr. Strange

- Along with defending the Southern Region, the Defenders also deal with magical threats throughout the United States

Region 7 (Force Works)
States: Washington, Oregon, Idaho
Base of Operations: Seattle, Washington
Heroes: War Machine, Cybermancer, USAgent, Beta Ray Bill, She-Hulk, Spider-Woman, Deathlok, Doc Sampson
Leadership: War Machine

- Force Works defend the Cascadia Region along with dealing in technological issues throughout the United States.

Region 8 (Heroes for Hire)
States: California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado
Base of Operations: Los Angeles, California and Denver, Colorado
Heroes: Power Man, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, Misty Knight, Ant-Man, Black Cat, Shang-Chi, White Tiger
Leadership: Power Man

- The Heroes for Hire is a psuedo-mercenary superhero group that defends the Western Region. Along with working for the government, the Heroes for Hire will also work for private groups throughout the United States.

Multi-Region (S.H.I.E.L.D.)
States: All states
Base of Operations: mobile, S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier
Heroes: Nick Fury, Agent 13, Jessica Drew, Black Widow, Multiple Man, USAgent, Wolverine, Hawkeye, Ant-Man
Leadership: Nick Fury

- S.H.I.E.L.D. is reorganized as an American agency after years of American domination and the United Nations handing full control of the organization to the United States. S.H.I.E.L.D. replaced the C.I.A and Department of Defense as the United States' espionage agency. S.H.I.E.L.D. also developed a superhero team consisting of heroes from within the agency and heroes from other teams to deal with threats all over the United States. They are the only superhero team that was not assigned a region.

Nat Turner - Runaway slave who lead a violent revolt against the slave owners, it was the biggest and bloodiest slave revolt ever. Oh and Nat was kinda loony and thought his sign from god was a full moon.

Fredrick Douglas - First blackman to own a Newspaper business, Abolitionist.

Crispus Atticus - A rebel leader in the Boston Tea Party he died in combat, a blackman fighting along side the whites who thought him less than human yet he felt America was worth it.

Harriet Tubman - Underground railroad, you know the story.

Sojurner Truth

What did each of them do? what made them stand out. sorry but I'm only familiar with the actions of Harriet Tubman. She would more than likely have a teleportatin power, or something that would help transport great amounts of people.

I just had a f--kin' amazing idea!!!!!!

Damn ok..*Calm down boy* This is totally unrelated to the FreedomRing idea..

This is straight up MARVEL U what if Nat Turner was a follower of Khunshu? A 'Fist of Khunshu' like MoonKnight! Marvel could make it a MAX series/mini. The premise being Khunshu (Which is already established that Khunshu always had a MoonKnight of sorts throughout history.) chose Nat Turner and some how..I'm stuck.

You get where I'm going.

I see it, it might be interesting to see other "legacy" type characters throughout history. what other characters have always been, even if they're current name wasn't the one used.

In North Carolina we have Fort Bragg, a military base. I'm not sure if they're counting S.H.E.I.L.D. unpowered agents as "superheroes" or if they could join "a team". But my guess is that's where they'd set up. You'd need very ranged hereoes, since one side of the state is mountains and the other is beach.

I think it'd be awesome if Eric O'Grady the new Ant-Man came here. Of course he's not sanctioned or approved by S.H.E.I.L.D. A teleporter would come in handy, getting from one side of the state to another in a flash. Maybe Nightcrawler, who knows? Stingray could help with the water stuff. And some rocky guy for the mountains. And a regular strong guy. We won't get picky.

That'd be NC's team.

Ant-Man
Nightcrawler
Stringray
Rock person
Strong person.

Ironfist
BlackPanther
Black Knight
UnionJack (Since WWI anyways)
Spider-man (If you count the JMS 'Totem/Ezekiel/Morlun/SpiderGod' Bull sh-t. )

Nova (Nova Force it'll be in outerspace of course.)

Can't think of any more.
